I don't agree that "Did you read my next post?" is grounds for penalizing.
It is somewhat lamentable that this offtopic is now the topic.
But well, seeing as there will not likely be official announcements any time soon here either, I guess not much is being lost...

Hi all.
Long time no posting.
I am just here to cheer you up because you must have also heard we shouldn't expect a release this upcoming Jan 1st. While this is unfortunate i'm just gonna say that it's best we wait.
My end goal is to teach my eventual children this game, as it will be my most prized artifact of the previous millennia, to show them how games used to be mad based back before fortnite and candy crush.
All jokes aside, this is one of the few remaining jewel of an era long gone. We usually say here that it's easy going to the past but nobody ever is there, yet this game is an exception, we're all always here. Because as a community we maintain this game alive, it never really is the past; it's always somewhat the present still, a part of us all which refuses to die.

Sigh, I had just wrote a really long apology and explanation on my phone, when it suddenly decided to go back a page and delete everything I had wrote.
I don't feel like writing it all again, but I wanted to apologize and say I did'nt mean things as harsh as they probably sounded.
Maybe I will write another post tomorrow, but I need to go to bed now.

No need to write it all over again Phoenix, I feel your apology is genuine and I thank you for it.
I admit the penalty was a very harsh punishment, which was more done due to the accumulation over the years and I read this post as the climax of all your rants.
As it's near Christmas and you show here good intent, I've asked Corribus to remove the penalty (I cannot do it myself as I'm not assigned to the H3 board). We will see if he agrees the penalty was too harsh a punishment or not. In return I ask you to be more patient and considerate regarding Hota news.

As a new years resolution I intend to be a lot less negative on this board and maybe especially in this thread.

Heyho, I have a question regarding creating my own campaigns - is there a way to do that? I'm talking the whole package, and most importantly, is there a way to add (and how would one go about creating them) custom maps? I'm not talking about a scenario map (which you can build via the provided HOTA map editor), I'm talking about the campaign map, where there is a map of the world, and each mission (scenario) is usually represented by a territory. The one shown when you decide on your starting options and read the prologue.
To give you an example, and do correct me if I'm wrong, the RoE/Complete version's 'campaign editor' is stuck on the 'Long Live the Queen' map (accessible via Edit>Campaign Properties). Is there a way to make my own map? HOTA campaigns appear to use still photos in these spots - again, how do I go about creating such a thing (not the photo, but functional campaign)?
From what little info I could find, devs of HOTA decided to not disclose their own campaign editor (kinda shame, but understandable), but I am interested in how they managed to make their own maps in the first place. Is it more of a 'you gotta code it', or is there a somewhat simple 'layout' method that allows you to create the maps, as well as 'scenario territories'?
If there's a thread discussing this, I did not manage to find it, so please do direct me to it.

HotA disabled the territory selection feature. If you load any AB/SoD campaign into HotA you will get the map but not the highlighted territory. You cannot change the order of the scenarios.
The images that HotA uses for its own campaigns are simply replacements for the maps. For example, loading a campaign that uses the "Islands" (Foolhardy Waywardness) map will display the Under the Jolly Roger image. If you know your way around the h3 data files, you will see that the IS_BG.pcx file is present in both HotA.lod and H3bitmap.lod, but they are 2 different images. There is really no trickery here, you just replace the map image with the one you want in HotA.lod.
As for creating the campaign itself, HotA didn't change the .h3c file format. If you are a bit tech savvy and are able to use a hex editor, you can build the h3c structure manually. You can find the .h3c format in quite a few places, for example here, or if you have a newish version of ERA installed you can find it in the folder "Help\h3c format.txt".

2035! Quantum computer in a computer shop. Quantum plays Grandmaster 3DO NWC level. Yes HoMM3 can play in quantum, but impossible level, thus an old program. A new HoMM in the 2035 can play normally. When quantum can use an old command 0 or 1, really quantum uses both 0 and 1. Quantum is multi-thousands times faster than supercomputer and supercomputer is million times faster than home computer. But supercomputer can't play HoMM well due to old command where are blinded AI. Only chess, etc
