The swordmen skill (attack twice) and your 4th level creature skill isn t good. Mean too powerfull. Like mass haste/slow.

You heard well. Forge was planned for AB, and Conflux most likely for SoD expansion.

Excellent articles. I was there, posting at the 3DO forums back then when Heroes III was first released and then when the AG expansion was announced. People are trying to rewrite history a bit as far as the Astral Wizard site's embarrassing involvement though. A bunch of irrational teenagers who back then were too young to know about cross-genre 'science fantasy' stuff (and had obviously not played the M&M rpgs) decided to call for a boycott of the game and their posts were as nonsensical and fallacious as one could imagine. 3DO buckled because there was not an equal number of people raising a ruckus for the pro-forge side.
It is difficult these days to find any of those Astral Wizard guys still advocating the silly position but they were certainly screaming it from the mountain tops back in 1999-2001.

This is a great addon so far, few crashes, but I like it , I also like how you changed the way the Pikemen look and the Halberds look as well as when you right click on a creature or enemy it gives you a better rough estimate of how many creatures there are. Great Great add-on, you guys did very well. I think that this looks like work that NWC would have done You should be very proud for the whole team.

Posting/uploading the relevent crash log will be more helpful than just saying it was generated. Also, a description leading to the crash might prove helpful, too.

I have wondered aswell! It always is a shame you can't play with 9 players, because there are 9 castles.

Is this something that has been adressed before?

Yeaaargh! There HAS to be more playes available on the map especially as you can have giant maps now. New colours should be black and yellow.

There doesn't even exist any proper templates for any number of players above XL size, as of now. The number of players possible doesn't really have to be equal to the number of towns, but I'm not saying I'm against adding more players.

I think it'd be more fun there would be more fractions on the field, as it would be more challenging.

All vs all, especially with the Giant map it should be possible.

Am I really the only one that feels that the Cove hero lineup would benefit from having more variety? Like, as said, why isn't there any personalities based on a Nix warrior? If the decision not to add such heroes was based on some odd lore factor, then I just like to say that lore shouldn't go before impression.


this guy is probably from the campaign. It's just an example.

Also, some of the Cove heroes look way too life-like for my taste. I don't think they fit too well at all with the style used for the original portraits drawn by NWC. I've seen life-like portraits used for WoG mods, but for HotA, which is aiming to feel like a proper and fitting 3rd expansion, it just seems like a miss to me making some of them looking so life-like.

you have elf, oceanid and humans for cove heroes.

nixes were just freed from slavery, no other nix besides their new leader [from campaign] could be noticed and valued as a hero in antagarich.

as for graphic portraits, just look at those castle portraits and adrienne's, the witch. While castle's look drew from scratch, adriennne's looks like a photo of a 3d model, which it is.
Also, queen catherine's portrait looks so horrible that only after years i realised that the red thing around her head is her curly red hair and not an extravagant hood.

Who's the elf you're talking about? I don't think anybody from Cove looks like an elf, anyhow.

Sorry, but who really cares about lore besides when playing the campaigns? Why should the Cove hero lineup in random maps not have a Nix hero(es) to add to the variety? Just look at the original towns, there's heroes of gnolls, lizards, troglodytes, minotaurus, etc. I'm pretty positive that NWC would had made heroes out of Nixes as part of the standard Cove lineup, too.

Yes those are very ugly, but those're only used for the campaigns, which means I personally don't care much about them.

You have to know other parts of the complete lore to know he's an elf from the description. Besides, I don't recognizes his ears as looking elf-like. It could be made more obvious.

It doesn't make sense to talk about 'fault' when I'm simply stating my opinion/reasoning over something. Of course, anybody is free to disagree or ignore it.

you can express your opinion, but only if it has a valid and strong argument behind, not just for the sake of arguing.

I have to strongly disagree with this. IMO HoTA is so popular precisely because it respects carefuly original spirit, graphic-wise, gameplay-wise etc, in addition of a new fully playable town.
