This comic is a great representation of how artificial is the intelligence of the AI.

Lol, that one is great! And yes, it clearly shows one of the biggest AI flaws; it doesn't know how to path using Large units. It seems to think only one move ahead, trying to get closer, regardless of potential obstacles. If it can't (because obstacles block it, regardless of whether it's a map object or another unit), it seems to move up or down within the same column instead. Obstacles are seemingly only considered when they block the actual move and not the next one.

Oakwarrior said: We are trying a "novel" approach to AI and internally we're quite happy how it's turning out. I can't delve into the specifics, but it's not the good old "if (condition filled) then (do something)" system. It's not supposed to emulate human thought of course, because that'd take a lot of time and potential scientific papers to put into the framework of the game. Instead, the AI in H7 always strives to succeed and progress based on the current situation it is aware of.

It actually means the contrary: you just have to tell people that the game has a new kind of adaptive AI that will get better with each map played, people will play the crap out of the game and afterwards say, wow, the game is really immersive.
Or, in other words: JUST TELL YOUR CUSTOMERS BOLD LIES - THEIR IMAGINATION WILL DO THE REST!
Nothing new with that one, though.

Speaking of "placebo effect." Yesterday, when I was playing 3rd Stronghold mission, Melisandre wanted to attack my southernmost fort. When she was very close to it, I ordered a caravan that originated in that fort. Next turn, instead of attacking the fort, she decided to go and chase the caravan instead. She insisted on doing so up to a point when caravan was way ahead of her. After that, she once again tried to conquer that fort. With all my respect to the devs, I wouldn't call that an "expert AI."

And by the way, Elvin - that comic about AI might be a fine link for the VIP forum ...

As far as I can tell h7 tactical AI has several problems:
1) It doesn't see/understand obstacles which is why AI sometimes just starts moving up and down instead of advancing when it has obstacle in front.
2) (Related to first problem) AI can't plan future moves and instead only lives this creatures turn and nothing else which prevents movement routes.
3) AI has no coordination between units(related to 2nd problem) which is why it often with army blocks their own units and clumps them up for AoE-spells. It also has no priority on which units to protect(actually it doesn't understand to protect to be exact) and for some reason it's a berserker that just rushes to other side of battle instead of using wait or defend commands at times.
4) Target priority is little bit better than in beta, but it still does insane decisions like going after decoy-stack of 1 instead of strong stacks wasting the strongest units turns.
5) (related to third problem) AI hero seems to have absolutely no idea on what should be done in battles. Most of the time I see the hero sling very ineffective spells or spell that makes no sense to be cast on some unit. Or even worse it uses stuff like "advance" warcry to clump up the army for AoE-spell. Frankly it feels absolutely random as to what action the hero takes.
These are my experiences based on the game with the launch-date patches. I dunno if they have been fixed since as haven't played the game after first few days(I have my doubts though).

Same here. Things are just as terrible on the adventure map where it runs around like a headless chicken. It is painful to watch allied AI wasting your time like that.

Blog is down (for me), again...
So I opened a ticket at Ubi Customer Support on october 4th to ask about how to get the pre-order bonus items (portraits/artefacts). No answer in several days, so I put the ticket number on the Ubi forum and Moshi passed it along. That was two days ago. Now I finally got an answer, but it's an odd one. It's in Dutch, but I'll translate as well.
If I understand you correctly, you're only missing the artefacts and portraits.
In order to obtain these, you need to enter the Beta key on the MMH7 website.
Afterwards you should receive the content within 24 hours. Note: this content unlocks in Ivan's campaign, not in the others.
It's not even possible to enter a code on the MMH7 website at this, point . Or am I missing something?
Or...is it unlocked already because I participated in the Beta and had therefore entered the key on the website? Is it already 'there' when I will play the game? That's possible too...

Dies Irae, in Uplay you should check the dlc tab. I have there a message that I unlocked preorder artefacts and portraits. Or did you already check there?
Edit:
And it means you won't have to install the game to check

I suppose that requires having installed H7? Because I can't find a DLC tab anywhere else.
And Uplay refuses to go online (must be a general failure...the blog doesn't work either for me).
