I wonder what is in the head of people responsible for not showing us anything about Fortress before release.
If Antalyan is right and updating blog means introducing Fortress to the rest of the factions, then we will get absolutely no information about it until release.
If they don't update blog then we wont get creauture's special abilities, townscreen, music, racial ability, warmachines, 3D units, classes if they still exist...
There is not much left to announce without Fortress update on the blog.

I am sad that the leak happened on our watch as it is unfair for everyone involved. That aside I have trouble believing that ubi simply stopped trying after that.
The cold hard facts are that the game had been criticized on many fronts and then the team withdrew from the public. Actions speak louder than words certainly but I have not seen or sensed anything that could somehow redeem the game in the eyes of those who do not support it. And that lack of information before revealing the unpopular and unchanging decisions was what killed the hype before the release in the first place.
Even worse, many sources of negative player experience could have been fixed in an afternoon or two or three. Like hero specials, better distribution of unit abilities, better implementation of hero movement and logistics, scaling warmachines and actually useful first aid, less restrictive town level requirements, some general spell balancing etc. It's not like it is hard from a technical point. Even alternative dwellings were proven feasible and easy to implement.

If I remember it right, you had been involved in the H7 development for some time. Why the team hadn't done the changes you speak about if they are so easy to implement?

If "involved" means learning the developers's decisions a little bit earlier than the everyone else, yes, then he was "involved".

Even by the time of Shadow Council's feedback shots could have been aimed better, Ubilimbic kept stubborn (even openly wrote in the blog they disapproved with most requests) and here is the result.

Fans being involved at the decisional level of a developer is presumptuous to say the least. A community superintending the production of a game is a ship setting sail for fail.

The idea never was about that. The goal was to provide feedback.
By comparison, [ Larian decided to head to Kickstarter for divinity original sin 2 because they wanted the opinions from the community when developing the game, as well as allowing them to further expand the vision they originally have for this game. ] Ofc these guys know what they have in their hands and how people feel about it and they used the development method that works best for them. Ubi still has trouble telling what heroes is about and they are utterly hopeless without someone telling them if they missed something absolutely crucial or if an idea is good, risky or outright stupid. And they are not in the habit of listening either way.

Pretty sure a lot of the "feedback" the community gave for Heroes was "we want / don't want this", and to that extent it's the same thing as being entitled to dev power. Guess what, we don't have a say like that and we shouldn't have a say like that. A game with vision, cohesion and adequate features is not shouted on forums by demanding fans, it's put piece by piece by a competent and ambitious dev team in a lot of board sessions. If a dev team needs to be told what a game is about, that they're hopeless at this or that, that they missed adding some crucial element X to the mixture, then the primary problem is that the respective dev team is not suitable to create that game in the first place and no amount of community meddling under the tag of "feedback" is ever gonna help. If anything in Heroes 7's case that's been conclusively proven.
A community is worth consulting, a community should provide statistical data for eventual balance changes, a community should provide feedback on bugs and broken stuff. But never should a community have a say in how a dev team should do its job and what features a game should have. If the devs don't know that themselves then they are the wrong people for the job.

What is the point of arguing this? We have known for awhile that the devs are hopelessly incompetent. It is not like the community had much say anyway, I mean all the votes consisted of pre-determined ideas.
