I... have a decision to make. It has come to my attention that H7 has a seemingly good map editor and modding system. I am certain that you recognize the potential danger this possibility presents to my... our position. At the same time I may actually want to unleash the potential of the game. It seems that I may use the editor to my advantage and make a better game for me. The question I put to you, my generals, is: shall I refuse to touch this game, or shall I buy it and make something?

True. The game will be much more stable by that time.

You seem misinformed then. Modding system seems completely limited to cosmetic changes and no options to rectify any of the game design decisions one might disagree with.

The "modding" is just values you change for certain map or manually import those values to it if you have master-data done/downloaded. As I understood it may be better for spells though since you can change their types(aoe/single, heal/dmg etc.).

Cleglaw, I asked directly the developers during twitch if the community would be able to mod the skill system into a more H3/H5 approach and they replied no, it actually was Oakwarrior who said it wouldn't be possible. It's OK that you like the game but please stop being in full denial about everything.

there wouldn't even need to be a lot of modding. just some minor tweaking to pre-requisites and randomization, really.

taking for granted that you'll be back tomorrow like everyone else who claims they're done with HC in a tantrum, I'd like to propose a bargain to help us overcome our annoying vices,
simply, you promise to gag yourself from using the word "nostalgia" or its conjugations for one month and I promise not to use the words "lol", "hue hue hue" or other similar memes anywhere for two weeks, any breach of bargain and the loser must use the winner's vice word in every single post for one week,
do we have a deal lol

How about a complete re-design for magic system for a start, and then moving on to a general redesign of skill system and hero classes? Something as simple as changing GM skills for magic hero classes so we don't have three heroes in the same faction that specialize in the same magic school would be a small but significant change for a start, but alas, from what I hear that is not possible ("because they feel that will interfere with the general atmosphere of the game", or whatever crap justification they gave). Oh, and changing requirements for buildings in town would be high on the ligst also.
But hey, if I'm mistaken, please enlighten me, might even make me consider buying the game if that is the case.

The editor allows you to make Heroes with custom Skillpizzas, as in you have 10 empty slices which you then fill with the skills of your choice. But nothing beyond that.

MM:H7.ubi said: Before we dive right in to our examples I would like to make something clear about the modding in MMH7. You will not be able to "directly" mod the game files but instead be able to duplicate any existing content, for example towns or heroes. From here you will be able to edit them however you see fit.
By doing so, you will be able to create new “packages” containing your modifications or newly created content. MMH7 Modding is “map-based” meaning that if you create a map using a specific package or modifying specific files, those modifications will be directly available in the map itself so people won’t have to download additional elements.

Even if you may be right (not saying you are, in my view), there are still other mistakes, both major and minor. Besides, we can't be kept silent about a thing as big as the skill system.

You can change the classes as I understood, as in what skills each class has access to. Also with specializations it's same as with skills, you can only change the values(so +300 gold can become +800 for example). As for buildings, I'm not sure. You can at least change what creatures dwelling creates and how many, but not sure if you can change pre-requisites for buildings.
