Well some things do not need to be played to be criticised. I mean some of the visual aspects (like spikes) can easily be criticized. Other things I learned are from other people's experiences (which more or less tell the same).
Maybe things may change by actually playing the game, but nothing too drastic. Maybe at the end of the development things may come better, but who knows how much it'll take time. I doubt things may improve much, since a lot of game mechanics won't be changed, at least not to make some major difference.
Besides, a lot of people see Heroes VII as a bad game already, otherwise the sales would go much higher. At least higher than H3 HD.

I think the game itself will definitely be improved with the expansion/update. But the core game is still too far from the classic gameplay so it's always gonna be another black sheep of the series at best.

I at least see what he's talking about. They took what they thought was most important from each game.
Heroes 1: creature movement comes in four speeds!
Heroes 2: it's got the same six factions
Heroes 3: we too have behemoths
Heroes 4: unfinished game
Heroes 5: town levels
Heroes 6: everything else.
And that's the recipe for heroes 7.

normally I always try to stay restrained not to comment about another member, but it's getting a bit of a trend that I can't help but suspect you are deliberately setting out to annoy and test people's patience with contemptuous remarks,
whether you and anyone like minded will accept it or not mate, the truth is your posts give me the sense you would probably find a way to speak positively of this game anyway no matter how good or bad, because by god is there a consensus that it's bad,
one may endlessly and naively try to raise the titanic with a bike chain and write off all of its **** and irreparable damage as water off a duck's back, but kindly avoid expecting others on the forum to follow into such fantasy realms if you wouldn't mind, you are overdue a dose of reality,
we can give all the constructive criticism in the world to an inanimate brick wall, but at the end of the day no delusion will overcome the fact that it's an inanimate brick wall, this is not a question of constructive or positive but a question of Team Erwin's position is untenable,
the story is already written, most people in this world place a high premium on their time and will not look kindly on time wasters, therefore this time wasting product which has completely burned its customers is never going to be acclaimed or even accepted, there is no patch in the world for negative momentum and abysmal reputation, next to nobody cares about or will buy the hamster xpac sent out to die, next to nobody is interested in paltry tweaks and improvements after the fact when that **** AI and all else still remains, almost everybody of worth has come to agree by the easy or the hard way that Team Erwin cannot create a Heroes game (be they the 2.5 million players who silently moved on after Heroes 5 or the vocal commenters on all HoMM fora), and you're right, some of us who cared enough about the series to come on forums and took time to comprehend the situation will complain, and criticize, and blather on, and gripe, and whine, and moan, the hell out of the hacks and beggars who put it here in their outrageous incompetence as long as we feel like it, because we too are down time, and money, and several potentially great games and likely this whole once great series as a result lol
and I want to have the best of respect for you mate, but if you will keep advocating those unheroic hacks and pass comment on me, don't complain and criticize if an ill turn receives another lol

I could say the same for you. You come in here, rant about how "this forum is filled with crazies" and how "it is psychologically mad that we discuss about the game we have not played". And yet, here you are, making such snide, satirical comments and log out. One could consider that as trying to get others' attention and annoy them.
I want to point out that people have experienced the game in other ways - watching videos, reading articles etc. While it may not give a deep analysis without actually playing the game, it gives us at least a good idea about some of the game's features, designs and, ah, bugs.
Besides, there is no actual rule that prevents people from discussing.
And I don't get your problem with verriker either; did you even read some of his QP posts?

Hey Karanshade, I own the game, I played it a lot too, I tried to like it but I ultimately became convinced that it is the biggest piece of garbage to have ever desecrated the Heroes series. Since I clear all the credentials (not that it should've mattered anyway), do you still have a problem?

I own the game. While I don't mod it  , it's not by a long shot the brightest Heroes game in existence. The Heroes game I played latest was Heroes 3. I still have the Lost Tales campaigns to play through, but after the regular campaigns, I just don't feel the draw. The game is missing its spark for me.

Hey Karanshade, I get that you're butthurt scandalized by the high amount of people who criticize the game when they don't even own it, but what about the high amount of people who criticize the game and DO own it? What's your downplaying card on that one?

Why is it such a big deal to have an opinion even if you haven't bought the game? I mean I had an opinion on H2 long before I purchased it because I played it at a friend's. Others have an opinion on H7 by playing the beta and doing the math - like add/subtract points for improved colour saturation, balance/AI changes, skill/spell system more or less unchanged etc. The changes(and bugs) are well documented so one can tell if they like/approve of the game or not.
And then there are people who have bought the game but have little motivation to play it, unless a new H4 lost tale or an impressive patch comes out. Because they know the state of the game and whether the new patch changes/additions make it worth returning even if they haven't touched the game in months.
And that's ok, no heroes has ever managed to satisfy everyone. H7 however has managed to satify far fewer than it could afford to - given the last decade's stagnation and misuse of the series.
So why would you defend it? You like it, good for you. You don't, it's kind of expected. If you like the game so much you only waste your time bickering here. But those who do spend the time to criticize it might actually force ubi to make the next one better. Or less disappointing at any rate. What I do know is that if not for the fan outrage in the Shadow Council, H7 would have been a worse game.
