Wow. Because one humanoid wouldn't be enough, they'd have to be two in the same creature.
Fantastic.

Two swords are better than one ^^
But again, I would prefer an H2-themed crusader

dwarfurious said: Would it make you feel better if i said his sword and armor were magical ? Besides, is not fantasy and mythology full of such heroes slaying dragons and demons and such ? This human, filling that Champion role, 'is' that fantasy. He is a Hero ! That would be a better name, Hero.
except that heroes are the dudes who lead armies.
between the swordbearer and the magic bird, it feels like the developpers thought it would be cool to have 2 champions per faction, but later realized they had absolutely no idea for the alternative champions...

Disagree. A high level knight and an elegant arcane bird fit those two factions a lot. Also it's not like this is the first time they appear, even if not in that specific incarnation.

Personally I don't get this big fuss of the Swordbearer as a Champion unit. Yes, when you say it cold, a human shouldn't be in the same category than a Titan or a Dragon...but then again, we already had games (like Might & Magic rpg series) where the human classes ended kicking Dragons, Titans, Behemonths and any type of huge beast asses...
Seeing Swordbearers as a well trained and experienced human is legitimate and fits the Champion category, imo.

Yeah Castle/Haven faction was always your solid, but boring faction.
Other factions like Necros or beast-oriented factions are what I enjoy playing the most...
So as you guys say, whatever the line-up, Haven will still be you plain ol' boring faction...

Haven is cool Human swordbearer taking on dragons and winning. Take notes gentlemen. That is how it is done.
Again, he wouldn't be like a normal human. He's a paladin champion. Think of him as Obi Wan.
Plus, I suspect that even as a champion unit, these ones will have 100% more growth than other average champions. In the past there have been top tier units that have had a growth from anywhere to 4 a week (H4 Life) to 1 every other week (H2 dragons). The growth will compensate for the fact that even as an extraordinary champion unit, dragons and titans, etc., are still a much more quality unit on a 1 to 1 basis.

aside from previous HoMM games, we have mythological human legends who slay dragons and eat them for breakfast.
I don't get the fuss about humans not being allowed as champion units at all. In fantasies, the strongest of humans can kick powerful creatures' ass.

Swordbearess would be great. Xena Warrior Princess.
The unit might even be called Xena.
Or, since we are at it, Mothers Confessor or Mord-Siths.
Sprites would also make fairly nice Champions. Good-looking, blow Fairy Dust into opponent's face - et voila.

Am i the only one that likes seeing Haven, a faction of humans, with swords and armor, holding their own against everything else in this horrible world? Its like the Terran taking on the Protoss and Zerg, clearly outmatched, still holding on

Like it or not, there have been a number of human dragon-slayers in various myths. It's not the same as an army of dragon slayers attacking an army of dragons but still

I vote for Dovahkiin if we're talking about badasses that can take down a dragon and of which there can be more than one. All they have to do is buy/lease the rights from Bethesda, no big deal I'm sure

Dwarfurious said: Fenris Knights?
I just wanted to throw in my opinion that, even though it's just the name, Fenris Knights/Fenris Champions would be a thousands times more badass and satisfying than Swordbearer. I think you, Dwarfurious, came up with a great idea with that one. And as a side note to that, even though a lot of Ubi's lore is lackluster, I'm sure that there could be a lot of really cool lore that could be created to back these titles. I know it's silly to get excited about just a name - it's far from one of the most important things - but still, it's a fantastic name that could replace an uninspiring one.
