It's true that each lineup should or infact must be playable offensive and defensive as well, it's just that i'm now even more curious to see what kind of elf can pull off strike and return without a mount. It can hardly be like the H5 Fury since they were almost completely neaked and the name Emerald Warrior implys armor to me.
Knight implies armor, Warrior not so much.
They might as well be something close to the H5 Blade Dancers.

Mayhaps, but Knight also implies mounted.
Which is why a Footknight needs the "Foot" to make clear that he is a special kind of knight. We're talking about that in a different thread though.

And say yes to Blade Dancers and magical Deer, as well as two units that still seem super similar within the same tier (can someone tell me where those artworks for Dryad and Pixie come from? i don't have my compendium at hand right now, and I don't remember those much), while saying no to Pythons and the mysterious Emerald Warriors? Yeah... no. Sorry.

It's the most similar to H5 lineup yes, but in the end the other two have the snake as the only real new unit, first and third have Treant upgrade and the third has the deer so we're hardly seeing Sylvan reinvented. But of course Ubisoft manipulated it into a Unicorn vs Phoenix vs Blade Dancer poll...

Okay, Thank you. I'll look it up when I get the chance.
However, that look of the Dryad (I think? It's the blue one with flowers I am talking about here) looks super similar to the Water Elemental/Spring Spirit or Glories. Although I won't miss those two, it just looks like another ill conceived look for a creature (A simple feminine figure coming up from a mound of whatever they are composed or with some sparkles In this one's case, it is both. Come on, at least the Pixie form H5 had branches and twigs coming off of it.) The other looks quite nice, though. Are they super tiny, or Elf/Human/ otherwise people sized?

The Blue one is indeed the Dryad. Which are Elf Ghosts of sorts. They are Elfs who have been lain inside Treants after their death and reincarnate as Forest Spirits.
The other one is the Pixie. They are flower spirits of indeterminate origin and are roughly a foot/30cm tall. Their nature depends on what flower they are born amongst.

Hmm. Would people who are against the Fire giant and Valkyrie be against Dryads, then? I don't see much difference between these. I'd like to know.
Cool! I wonder if their model, if they are included, would reflect this. People are mad about things like Gargoyles being small in screenshots right now, how would they react to these guys being 1/5-1/6 the size of everything else?
I take it there was no art work about these Root Pythons, then?
Still, this makes me feel better about the voting. They aren't as similar as I feared, but, I'd still like some beasts mixed in with humanoids, so I still vote for a faction with the Pythons.

I dunno. It might be because people simply dislike fortress. It might that they see this as another Elf.
I personally don't care that much.

If they are indeed that size, I suspect we see a swarm of several Pixies.

If there were, it would be shown. But I'm liking the idea of these. Too many plant-humanoids is gonna risk the same problems as HVI Sanctuary.

But, but... Dryads aren't looking so good now, as Pixies look cool to me. And Dryads might only help out Treants, which means Dragons wouldn't be a good choice for a champion ever if Treant/Dryad combo is so powerful. And if Treant/Dryad ISN'T powerful, or Dragon can shine brighter as a choice, then why is Dryad used, since it's whole function would be useless?
GAH! This is so hard to choose.

Ok, I reversed it to Fury, since Balance is preserved again
Seriously now, I'm only voting Fury because that's how Sylvan should be. Highly agile with a good damage output, but more frail and less focused on defense. The line-up in itself is not of particular interest to me because it's quite weak, but so are the others. So I can't vote based on that. Dryad + pixies = redundant; Dryad makes Treants the obvious champion choice; Blade Dancers above Archers in Tier feels a bit odd, but I can deal with that...
Yaaassssssssssss!!! I share your logic and your apprehensions.
STOP MAKING THE ELVES DEFENSE BASED! WHEN ARE WE GOING TO GET A "GOOD" FACTION THAT IS OFFENSE BASED? Haven, Fortress, Sanctuary- all more reliant on defenses. Academy is in its own little world, and H5 Sylvan, although the units could be played offensively or defensively, had a hero whose function as a ranger = "Tracker/hunter" meant that his growth rate would improve his DEFENCE! Yes, that makes a lot of sense!
As much as I hate the Blade Dancer, I think I'm gonna throw my vote to Fury. In fact, gonna do it now. (LOL My three votes didn't do anything to the percentages. Balance still leading by 2 percent, Fury @ 28%)
I still feel like Fury, as the name implies, should have the Emerald Knight and Phoenix in the lineup. Swap them for the Blade Dancer and Green Dragon respectively. It's like the offensive lineup is being robbed of the 2 most skirmish-oriented units. Yes, that makes a lot of sense!

ChrisD1 said: please someone explain to me. why do you think a walking unit is defensive?
everybody demonized the walking dragon, making it the face of everything that is evil!! and please don't say "sieges". sanctuary fared well in sieges, and do not forget your machines.
a faction does not have to have a flying unit.
and who ever said stronghold will be without a flying creature?
I totally agree with that.

Usually a walking unit is more defensive than a flying unit.
In the case of treants there is no need to explain why xD
So, Rakshasas, Paladins, Cerberus, Minatour Guards, Blood Sisters, Grim raiders, Death Knights, Wights,Blade Dancers... All are defensive in H5?
Every champion is a tank anyway. It's a champion unit. It's bound to have high HP and defence. It has nothing to do with its flying or walking.
