Aside from the ranged attack, I also envisioned it as a wall crusher. When it makes a melee attack against a wall, it starts to entangle it. Every subsequent turn that the Treant attacks the wall segment, the entanglement spreads further to neighboring wall segments (eventually covering the entire wall) and each entangled wall segment takes damage. Possibly with a build-up as well. Visually it could look like poison ivy starts to cover the wall, spreading out from the Treat. When the Treant moves, the poison ivy all dies off and falls away. If it sticks in place but doesn't attack the wall, no damage is done to the wall for that turn.

stolen

seriously though, that shooting would be pretty cool, however i think this game already has too many champion shooters. still, more interesting than cyclop and titan standard shooters and acting as a second catapult. needed for a lineup without (many/beefy) flyers.

What do you mean with that?

Well, one of the problems of having 6 factions with 2 champions each is that you will end up with 12 different champions. It's pretty inevitable that you will have multiple shooters and multiple flyers among those.

But as for Champion shooters, which ones do we have? Only Titans and Cyclopses come to mind, actually.

Pixie
Fast damage dealer as it should be. What's more to say?

Hunter
Prized damage dealer from afar, the backbone of cores (even though cores/elites/champions are just names now, yay!!)

Dryad
Out-of-the-box defensive core. A seemingly "frail" spirit that can take a punch. Great idea really. She'll hold down the cores fort!!

Druid
Entangler and medium shooter i guess. Versatile one, yuush pls.

Stag
Fast damage dealer with supporting aura for the "frailer" units. Attack with the stag by your side and you're good

Blade Dancer
Multiple targeting damage dealer, fast, and i suspect there will be a nice niche since he has low HP. Can't wait for it. If no niche i suspect balancing (btw data mining might not be extremely accurate)

Treant
I really hope it turns out a shooter. If not,a tank to balance and support the offensive units is just perfect. It might do wonders when played right with the hippie dryad

Green Dragon
Honestly I don't know what to say about its role. It would be an overkill to be a flyer, alongside a pixie,a stag, a hunter and a blade dancer. This line up might be called fury, but that doesn't mean it won't be able to defend

As you see i skipped the unnecessairy parts about appearences. There was absolutely no need. We could have chewbacca as a pixie(fast no retaliation) and the gameplay would be the same.

i just miss Shooting champ being unique to tower/academy as they've always been the ranger faction. It was sort of their thing. now stronghold has it as well, which is weird to me since they work better as a melee faction.

how much different do you want it to be?
and it's not like multi target is smth that rare (hydra in heroes 5, pixie, blade dancer, wizard etc)
besides, stat wise they will be different and of course the rest of the line up comes in, that will distinguish those two a lot. you won't battle just with a stack of blade dancers or rakshasas in your army, so they must be extremely different.

Yea it's not that rare...since ubisoft took over. In h7 we get sword masters, Rakasha, blade dancers, cyclops, and probably a neutral. Love the variety. like one for each faction lol. And that's just this 'sweep attack' ability. The hydra gets the full thing.

oh shush now.. creatures abilities and gameplay come last when we have to deal with details, nitpicking and facial expressions of the units!
imagine the community raging (and dedicating 4 days and 5-6 pages) about more diverse creature abilities and more rewarding heroes' specializations???? we would end up with units that have weird eyebrows or funny knees! i wouldn't wish that to my worst enemy! ugh!

Well we also have an aweful distribution of fliers, shooters, and walkers so its not suprising. Not to mention all the reused h6 stuff, so they could at least get unit faces right. Do they put 100% effort torwards anything?

on that i agree! but why why why don't we rage about that stuff? that's what's bothering me! it never crossed my mind about what you're saying. but why didn't someone else rioted they way they did with necropolis and raise awareness? or with specializations? we only demanded random skillwheel.

Not everyone agrees for whatever reason. I brought it up many times in the past but it never gets talked about. It became clear that nobody cared or noticed during dungeon vote. When another of practically the same line up won so now we have almost all ground slyvan, with dungeon and haven bein the same of all ground with one optional flier.

With similar line ups and similar skills its like...WTF

I'm a bit late, people already covered pretty much everything of what I think. I liked cores and champions, and have some considerations about druid and bladedancer, but I want to talk a bit more about stags.

cores
- pixie: like people said, an explosion of vibrant colours and alien. really nice.
- hunter: miles better than the h5 hunter if you ask me. h5 looked like a random lazy elf with a cape, this one have more of a sharpshooter feel, great hood and bow too.
- dryad: I like her greenish color and her hippie face, I think I like her more greenish than bluish like people suggested.

champions
- dragon: I really had a certain fear about this one, but the results were nice and original. I liked those emerald escales very much.
- treant: like someone said, it's probably one of the best treant design made. The ancient got more robustness and hte birds flying around was another plus.

elites
- druid: I like that they opted for a strong rustic woman look, but I agree with the complains about the eyes and heels. I think it's ok to use vibrant green eyes on her, but need to take care with it to not make it look necromantic.

- bladedancer: This was a disappointment, I didn't care much about the smirk, although I think he would look better with mask. The problem was the artwork didn't passed that impression of a real agile elf warrior. He kind of lost his ninja powers since his last artwork.
However, I was watching the e3 video again and he is looking better in 3d, I think. The idle animation looked better, so I'm recovering my optimism, but let's wait to see the final results.
About the smirk, I think the point was to add a kind of come at me, bro effect.

- stags: About the stags, people didn't had empathy with them initially, because it would take the place of traditional unicorns among other reasons and that's totally legit, imo. However, I think they were one of the most original creatures from what we had in sylvan lines.

White stags are present in celtic folklore and legends as a symbol of high ideals and aspirations, Beith is also related with these "White Ones", it's the first letter of of the Ogham alphabet meaning Birch, which is associated with beginnings, birth, fresh start, where old ideas and unhelpful influences need to be cast aside.

Our Stags comes from a mythological creature from the hungarian culture, Csodaszarvas, The Miraculous Deer. Some pics:

The symbol of the cosmos, the heavenly firmament carrying stars and celestial entities was related with a large horned stag.
"...with horns of a thousand branches and knobs, and of a thousand bright candles. Amongst its horns it carries the light of the blessed sun, on it's forehead there is a star, on it's chest the moon. And it starts along the banks of the shining heavenly Danube..."

According to the legend, the twin brothers Hunor and Magor, sons of the mighty warrior king Nimrod (Bible have references of him as mighty hunter before the lord) and later great hunters (like their father), were guided by a wondrous beast, a great horned stag, which shone in multicolor lights and it's antlers glittering from light.
Enchanted by the heavenly beast they gave chase to it, but the animal always stayed ahead of them, leading them across glades and meadows onward toward the west foreign lands, where the twins would later marry two princess. The descendants of Hunor and one of the princesses became the nation of the Huns, while the descendants of Magor and the other princess became the nation of the Magyars.

Statue of csodaszarvas:

Man, there is even a hungarian band of folk rock called Galloping Wonder Stag.

There are many tales with great stags, stag gods, usually as benevolent beings, messengers of joy and happiness, also as guardians, many times associated with the seasons, particularly the solstices. Maybe this is what inspired our twilight stags.

On contrary of what many people may think, twilight stags doesn't come from a twilight movie , but from the seasons of the year, imo. Moon Doe could mean longer nights (period around winter solstice), Sun Deer could mean longer days (period around summer solstice).
In some cultures (like sumerian folklore), people had a perspective a little different of this same thing, taking into account the fact that solstices mark a period of transition, a point of inflexion. For example, solstice of winter marks the day of year with the longest night, which means that from now on, the days will start to become progressively longer, meaning the sun is gaining his strength back or that he is simply returning.

"...when the Sun appears between the horns of the heavenly stag -ie. at the winter solstice- winter is passing, the sun regains its former strength, the days are getting longer, a new cycle, a new year begins."

Enduring the winter was challenging for many old civilizations, recovering the sun was a gift, a victory. We could think about pre-cristian winter solstice celebrations like Yule, associated with similar myths of a Stag God who steals the Sun and carry it between his antlers. He has to be hunted and caught before the Sun can return.

"...Yule marks the return of the sun and the rebirth of the Horned God, as well as the beginning reign of the Oak King, taking the Holly King’s place and bringing the light half of the year..."

The Holly King concept comes from a group of priest kings, from some early mythical legends, who saved the dwindling population from the depths of the winter ice. (Some say there are links with the Great Kings of Ireland around the period of 8000-7500 BCE when the ice bridge between Scotland and Ireland collapses.

"The Holly King begins his battle with his twin brother the Oak King at the Summer Solstice. As the year is wanning the Holly King prevails and begins preparations to save and maintain his people through the cold winter. In order to accomplish his mission, he travels the land to hunt, fish and harvest.
Transporting these life saving items in a wagon or sled pulled by eight deer. These 'gifts' of life are provided to all his people, and in exchange they provide care and comfort to his team of deer."

Any coincidence?
Here is a tip:

"... The Holly King lived way up North, where he could survive in the cold during the reign of his brother in the spring and summer. The Oak King who needed the warmth to survive, lived in the warm forests in the south and falls into sleep while his brother of the cold reigns over the world during the fall and winter months."

In some traditions, the Oak King and the Holly King are seen as dual aspects of the Horned God, Cernunnos.

Ok, I ended up talking too much. lol

The townscreen is one of my personal favorites, but it still need some creative love . I think that some of the dwelling are too small - especially those where you can recruit elite and champion creatures (stone circle, anyone? It's... petit.). I would increase the size of Grail building and both champions dwelling. I worked on the image a little bit: http://i57.tinypic.com/fw0jtx.png
