One thing I would agree was to Tower automatically build the Library when one builds mage guild level 1.
Is an absurd for the already overpriced Mage Tower to require another plus 5 of each resource and another build to be upgraded and to have imediatly 6 different spells is still a poor compensation to play a faction that has Solmyr as one of her best heroes.

Yes. Seconded.

In my opinion the hit points of Inferno lies in the demons, because you can assemble them en mass. Efreeti and Devils are not what many other high tier units are to their own town, because these Inferno units have by comparison lower hp, but more speed. The AD e.g. have rather low damage, but with no retal you can really take advantage of your opponents weaknesses.

Regarding Frenzy, I find it best if you aren't already by far out attacking your opponent, so it's not really usable in e.g. a standard game against the AI where it deploys a 4 1 7 3 hero against your 30 22 15 16 hero.. but if we're dealing with two high level heroes that are similar or one has a lot more defense than the other, then frenzy can be very beneficial. E.g. imagine you're against castle with two high level heroes fighting. Their most dangerous units the AA haven't attacked your AD yet for some reason, which means you can now frenzy the AD and do tremendous damage.. iIRC it's almost 1 AA pr. AD that falls. Of course your AD's falls next, but then you could e.g. use sacrifice on some worthless units and get all your AD's back.

I play it like I play all towns. Try to go for as high level unit as fast as possible. Clear out gold and needed resources with many heroes and otherwise creep with 2 Efreeti as week 1 army (together with what I could get from starter + extra heroes + first week town units), at second week many fights usually becomes really manageable, as Devils usually enter the fray here, and most new towns will give low level units that can be converted to Demons, so Angels, Wyverns, Demons should be collectable en mass now. I usually go for rashka for the +1 speed to efreeti, but if I can I'll change him for a barbarian. Alternatively pyre has log and fiona guarantees you can have a little faster heroes from the start..

That aside, I think fire magic is thematically very appropriate with this town, so if you find a suitable opponent you could theoretically postpone the game for really big armies with very strong heroes and have cool and fun stuff like efreeti sultan armageddon mages, a main army with tons of demons, a final battle with expert fire magic berserk, frenzy and a sacrifice spell that makes resurrection, implosion and similar seem worthless, not to forget blind combined with efreeti sultans fire immunity.

I would like to share detail with Frenzy spell.
Casted on Arch Devils for example, it should be one of the best combos, astronomic attack sill.

I used 15 AD's in game to attach 14 Titans, first saved and tried without Frenzy, well, they killed 4 Titans, 10 were left.
Attack skill of my hero was 21. AD had 47 attackthen. Expert Offenso i had too, hero - Nymus.

Then i decided to do the same, but attack with Frenzy casted on AD.
Attack was now 149 (sic!).

Hit Titans. I was hoping they either wipe them out, or have 3-4 left.
No, 7 of them left.

Recently became obsessed to play Inferno, don't know why. I like their mobility. If u can build them up, they are actually very fast, Pit Fiend kills really nicely and Cerberi are amazing, yet i feel efreets drop dead very quickly and AD doesn't kill like i was hoping.

That's to be expected, the damage formula considers AA minus DD (Attacker's attack)-(Defender's defense) for damage calculations.
Damage bonus is capped at AA-DD = 60 which yields +300% damage. (This is also why one shouldn't always cast Disrupting Ray until enemy defense = 0, it can be wasted.)

In your example, after Frenzy each AD now had a damage of 120-160 instead of 30-40 (and then damage calculation factors in other things like Offense, Armorer, spells, etc), meaning ~0.5 Titan killed per AD, so 7 killed Titans [simplifying remaining calculations].

Frenzy is really good at breaking high defense or letting low-tier units make a dent in high-tier ones... but it will not break game mechanics.

That's sound advice, especially on the magic. But when I played, by the time I had a bigger army, I didn't really have an advantage over opponents, except with a serious dose of luck and bad decision from the opponent. Maybe it depended a lot on context too. And maybe I also didn't have the right main hero and other factors. I'll try again.

I'd think it makes for a better game if both sides have about the same strength when it comes down to the final battle.

Don't know about this. As far as I can say it, the only way to have ballanced final fights in Heroes III is by controlling the entire map progress like they do in some well designed custom maps (Salamandre's come to mind), that I don't appreciate that much cause I feel them too directive. Personally I prefer when the AI is buffed progressively but has the liberty to develop and explore on its own, while I do the same. I know that exploiting WoG tricks to get 1.600.000 Master Gremlins and 143.000.000 gold late month 3 will not lead to a ballanced final battle but the associations I had to do and the coordination efforts I had to make to turn it possible played an important role on the fun I was having. Curiously, some of Sal's mods like Conquistador and Masters of Summoning do wonders in this more random environment.

If AI was properly coded, I would have no problems cutting down all my maps directives. But as it is, if you don't isolate them in small areas and set to "stand still" the game will certainly freeze before month 5.

Hence the scenario-drive maps. Is a safety belt, more than a conception.

I don't know if this should be here, since it happened during a HotA game but: I was playing a Huge map, first town I took was Stronghold, I put a nice hero to guard it but since remainning army was weak, built the Escape Tunnel. Got attacked, tried to flee and got the awser: you can't retreat, shackles are present. I played for many months, bought a ton of heroes but never found the Shackles. On the other hand, a barbarian escaped from a Tower...
Does anyone knows anything about this? Is there a problem with escape tunnel if you're not a Battle Mage/Barbarian or something?

I cannot explain the disappearance of the Shackles of War without having played the match myself. However, by my understanding you do not need to be using a Stronghold hero to retreat/surrender out of a town that has built an Escape Tunnel (assuming, of course, that the Shackles of War artifact is not present).

In the case where the Barbarian escaped from a Tower town, might I ask whether the battle was fought in a castle siege (i.e. was the Barbarian defending from within the Fort/Citadel/Castle gates)? One possible explanation might be that there was already a hero present inside the town's garrison, so the hero "outside" of the town was able to escape. This happened quite recently for me -- in one game, I thought I had trapped a hero inside a town while capturing it, but they walked off unscathed despite not having an Escape Tunnel built.

No, battle was fought inside Castle walls, I killed another hero at the door.

Does it really matter what tactics are used when playing against AI? You can't lose to it. That is unless you play against more then 1. Personally, I dislike adding multiple computer player when playing against AI cause it tends to happen that some of them eliminate each other from the game before I even encounter them. Also, you can be sure that AI is going to have as many heroes as it possibly can. Having more then 1 computer players on the map results in a massive amount of snowty heroes running around the map that you need to chase down.

Regardless of what faction you play I feel the following things are what grants you a sure victory:

Earth magic
Air magic
Town Portal
Dimension Door
Chains

+
Diplomacy is totally OP and the longer the game lasts the easier time you are going to have.

When against human opponent then some counter play to this can exists but AI has no clue how to deal with you when all of the above are present. I actually quit so many maps when all factors from above get ticked too early.

Try playing without Town Portal and Dimension Door, makes the game more fun and balanced imo.
Diplomacy is very overpowered, if a map-maker has'nt decreased the creatures chance to join.

Since TP and Dimension Door make it too easy, chains are my favorites.

Diplo is fun to have too, wandering around and watching as your army gets ever stronger.

Help I suck

Hello.

I play this awesome game but I suck. I watched several youtube videos and try to emulate how they play but when I try to play I almost always get destroyed by the AI.

Its like the AI is much better than when I'm playing.

Some help please?

I suggest you learn from the best.

Which is streamers on Heroes3.tv Watch pvp games and ask questions if you don't know why they do what they do, sometimes you have a chance of getting an answer that is not a troll.

Cheers

Ive watched game destroyer, meridian, boardgamergirls videos where they play after the amulet scenario. They are not bothered by the AI so much and the middle castle is almost always empty.

When I play I get hassled by the AI much sooner than those guys. And I encounter an army much larger than mine so I get destroyed.

Its like its a harder difficulty when I play than above mentioned people.

Thoughts?
