In another world, maybe the magical imbued constructs of the academy have a battle for supremacy and creativity with the steam powered automatons of the dwarves... Maybe in another world...

Stronghold will be weaker but still very good. Before u could finish the fight in one turn and now it would be more tactical.

Looks are one thing. Ashan giants literally ARE dwarves.. Next thing we get ogres that are actually orcs? Vampires that are actually liches? For crying out loud.
Does it matter if the result fills the giant fantasy? The sphinx, the nemean lion, cerberus and orthro are the children of a snakewoman and a dragon/serpent thing and no one is bating and eyelid

Age of Wonders just said they sold over 500.000 copies of the base game, so clearly there is a market for good strategy games; when is Ubi gonna finance something in heroes that would feel as a worthy game?

Aren't dwarfs smaller humans, while giants, bigger humans? Wouldn't a giant dwarf be just a regular human

Technically, yes and no... All mythologies have smaller humanoid creatures but the "Dwarf" as such, comes from the Norse mythology. The dwarfs although human-like are not entirely smaller humans. I am not sure of how they look but they are categorized as something different and distinct. Giants in Norse mythology are very big versions of the Dwarfs. One distinction might be that Dwarfs and giants are ugly, walk in funny ways and are cousins of the smaller creatures such as gremlins, goblins and gnomes more than humans.
Giants in greek mythology are demigods or were created/born by Gods/Monsters breeding. As such, they are also not humans although they are depicted as human-like as well. The imagery of a very huge human may not be though up to the true nature of such beings. I thing that Giants were more monstrous in appearance and maybe only their physique was resembling that of a human, meaning the body in general.

That might be harder to explain...
I mean, there are dog headed humans like the Cabirei and Gnolls and even Kobolds are said to be more Dog like. Even Werewolves can be found from pure beast to beast like human.
But hamsters... i don;t know if there is any form of such creature in mythology...

Try Baldur's Gate 1. Minsk doesn't survive into Baldur's Gate 2, after all (opening up Jaheira for a romance with the player character).

Ok, guess I should replay those games . You guys are right, that was Khalid . Hmm, I don't recall Minsc in BG2 though. I clearly remember the Gnoll Fortress in BG1 though; I think you get Minsc into your party shortly before that? I vividly remember him tearing into the Gnolls there.
