"Songs of conquest" Heroes-like game?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7j6-g58UhS4
Look and that and tell me at least the map graphics aren't H3-inspired. Can't vouch for anything else, though, but it looks very much like a 3D version of HOMM III, including the front-based square perspective.

Yes, the devs love HoMM3, and that's what they were inspired by.

Maybe not quite, but definately the first battle footage. And if we're on the subject of battles: genius idea to make hex battles a bit more interesting - elevation (ofc it will probably be tricky to balance). I mean in a Heroes like game.
It can also be finally wishlisted on Steam (it's easier for me to track news this way). The studio is inexpierienced, but it's definately passionate and has a good interaction with its (albeit small) community.
Imo this game does not recieve enough recognition on this board. Like I said a couple of times: it's probably the closest we will get to Heroes 3 spiritual successor.

Perhaps because we have had a lot of promises of H3 spiritual successors and none delivered as expected? IDK, some people like King's Bounty or Age of Wonders or whatever.
Personally, I don't know if I can get fully used to the new graphic styles of current games, or their microtransaction dynamics (I don't know if this will be an issue with this game, I certainly hope not as that would be a deal breaker...)
But I do agree the elevation is a good alternative to the rather terrible "Obstacles" we are used to.

You're correct. Also, I appreciate retro graphics, but it seems these devs are trying way too hard... Idk, I looked at the gameplay and... well, why must them make it so ugly? Like, I look at it and want to look away instantly
Edit: truth be told, it is much less about the sprites and more about the frames per second, the clunkiness of it...

The graphics are ok.
I personally like it although I do need to say it somehow looks less attractive in actual motion then on previous materials they provided: https://www.lavapotion.com/blog/2021/6/4/development-update-36.
You can also visit their Facebook page, a lot of stuff to see there.
But calling it ugly is imo too harsh. This Pixel art direction is a conscious decision, it is an indie game afterall, but imo it kinda fits (I've been playing quite a few indie pixel art strategy games an its fine). It has also pretty interesting lighting effects or fog (plus they are still experimenting with some things so maybe they will "prettify" graphics at some point). And I love the atmosphere.
From what I've seen I believe it will be a perfectly fine game, the only questions at this point will be it's replayability and post-release support. I don't want another "Vampire Wars" - a game that I had high hopes for, but aside from some patches it seems the game is receiving no post-release support. Kinda like this "ok it's out, let's move on to other stuff" type of game... (probably didn't sell that well)

I like the graphics, it's pretty good, if it were a little brighter it would be great, it's not completely recognised, but I still find it quite enjoyable.

https://www.t3.com/news/these-were-the-best-in-show-games-at-e3-2021
Songs of Conquest was picked PC Gamings Shows on E3 most anticipated game (even though there weren't that many interesting titles on this presentation I believe). This is actually good news because this means there is still interest in games like these. And if enough hype is generated/people take interest in it might turn into the game selling well and having better support in the future.
I wonder what would happen if HoMM would still be a thing on shows like this (and not some obscure IP with mobile games from Ubisoft no one even takes notice of).

The feel and atmosphere and visuals on the world map are just so good, feels quite incredible. But the combat map is... not sure about that. I kinda dislike it. The pixel integration too. I'm not going to wishlist this for now, they did not convince me. I'm more willing to give King's Bounty a shot, after Disciples of course.

Very much looking forward to this one. Beautiful pixel art and the adventure map look top notch. A lot of it looks so much like a pixelized version of heroes 3, which I totally dig. I also like the elevated hexes to shake up the combat a little. There are indeed a few animations on the combat map, at least in the trailer, that looked a little wonky. Like the cavalier/horseman almost looked static as it moved hexes. Maybe it has something to do with why the combat stuff was put off for so long. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt here cause everything else is looking really well done.
Definitely looking forward to this one the most out of the KB2, disciples, and this. But will probably give kings bounty2 a go before anything though, just cause it comes out first (and on my birthday )

I think the graphics may be a bit too dark for actual gameplay, but there may always be ways to adjust that.

The game is set to be out in Q1 2022, so there's plenty of time for polishing. And if you follow their blogs/posts etc you'll see they are constantly working and tweaking stuff.
I wonder if they'll add Dragon units at some point, probably as neutrals. Also, the town growth is interesting, you actually build them by expanding the area around. It's an interesting mechanic (not a separate screen, and for example defense towers "shoot" oncoming armies instead of siege battlefields, or maybe there will still be siege battlefields idk), but on the other hand it limits map design as you need to reserve a lot of space for a potential fully built town. Maybe that also limits the options and is done with premeditation?

I'm on the fence with buying this one day one. The price tag is pretty steep for not an AAA game...

They’ve definitely got plenty of time for polish. I’ve been following their updates pretty regularly since the 2019 announcement. Their website and progress all got a big update after the previous e3 video. I was a little worried cause progress was looking really slow before that
The expanding castles look neat as they grow larger. I feel like they won’t expand anymore than what we saw in the trailer though. We’ll just have to see. The arrow tower shooting an incoming hero on the adventure map is interesting. I wonder if it reduces the hero’s stats or something along those lines rather than damaging the troops.
The Darker color pallet Might be a turn off for some, but I like it. Mostly cause it’s different from heroes 2, which I still play a lot. Despite them both using pixel art, the unit designs are distinct enough and the darker hues help separate the games further.
From what I’ve seen so far, this will be a day one purchase for me, or even a preorder. I honestly haven’t even seen the price yet lol. But the with art, tbs genre, heroes inspired gameplay, and the choice of adding a swamp faction all makes me want to give this a try. Triple A titles are certainly not without their own faults, especially these days, so I don’t mind supporting a small dev team that’s willing to make a niche genre game like this. Hell, I’d even buy a deluxe edition just to support them further. If the game totally sucks then oh well, I appreciate their effort in trying to keep these games alive
