Sarah (previous night):

You dig through the supplies of Pokechow and begin to feed the Pokemon. Some are still battered from the fighting in the Shatterhigh Mountains ((read: stat loss)), but all are stable and most are conscious. Several dig into their food with gusto, made hungry by their injuries; others pick at it more tentatively or look at it with disinterest, depending on their temperaments.

One in particular stands out: a Whismur whose cot is up against the wall doesn’t appear in the least injured, but it just eyes the food miserably and curls up in on itself.

----------------

EDIT:

Main Group (meeting):

The Starlight Squad members assigned to this mission finish their preparations in short order, calling back Pokemon and putting away supplies. Dien presses something into the other lieutenant’s hand, then directs him after Elren, presumably to rest—despite losing the argument, he seems repressedly pleased with the outcome and calls everyone to follow him out to go to Keida.

----------------

Mina:

Mina called out her Pokemon and passed out Oran Berries liberally. The only two not given one to hold were Oodramer (whose Quick Claw had proven useful enough not to discard) and Pikachu, who of course got to hold the Shell Bell.

Mina couldn’t help but smile at the last. Pikachu was so pleased with it, and so proud of herself for helping to make it. Even the sound was pleasant: when it rang, it felt as though all her minor hurts faded away.

----------------

Brona (traveling):

Some hours after leaving Ternai town, you see a twist of smoke curling into the sky from a nearby grassy hill.

----------------

Main Group (about ˝ mile outside Keida):

Dien calls a halt; it’s about 3PM and still several hours before dark. The Squad has taken cover in some brush; everyone is keeping low in case of Bandra sentries.

"We’re going to need some idea of what we’re dealing with before nightfall. I need three volunteers to scout the town, and find out how Bandra has set their forces."

Sarah notices one particular Pokemon that is different from the rest, a Whismur who will simply not eat it's food. Sarah approaches it and pats it on the head and ask it how it feels.

((Wait, are whismurs deaf or just immune?..))

Main Group:

After seeing that Mark had volunteered, Sarah decides to join as well. She didn't really know the guy but had a good feeling about him.
Sarah raises her hand and calls out:
"I can join too, if I may. My newly trained Pokemons are eager to show their worth."

Sarah (night before):

((Just immune. Be kind of mean of me to make the trainer learn sign language just to say ‘hey, I want you to use Uproar!’ ))

The Whismur jabbers something upset-sounding at you before bawling loudly. The noise disturbs the other Pokemon sufficiently to attract the nurse on duty, who pushes its ears over the holes in its head until it quiets down to a soft whimpering, then asks you what happened.

Upon explaining and repeating the question, the nurse tells you that this is one of the Pokemon that belonged to a Starlight Squad member who didn’t make it out of the mountains alive.

----------------

Scouting Party (Brona, Mark, Sarah):

Dien declines the offer to send Gengar by himself, pointing out that he’d be alone if something went wrong and it would be difficult to get a report out of him in any case. Instead he sends the three of you off together with the following instructions:

“Keep your heads down and avoid notice. If Bandra finds out we’re here now, we can say goodbye to our chances of a successful attack.”

((Will have the results up soon-ish, unless you three have specific preparations you want to make.))

"So you're saying this fella' doesn't have a trainer?" Sarah asked the nurse even though she knew the answer. "Who will take care of it now?"
The blond girl kept her head low, she knew that a lot of people had died fighting the Bandra, but she never really thought about the Pokemons who also suffer from the loss of their friends and companions.

"We usually release them if their trainer didn't make any previous arrangements," the Nurse tells you. "But this little one hasn't been taking care of herself; if we let her go now she would die." She pauses. "They were really close." ((This is Starlight Squad Nurse Joy BTW.))

----------------

Scouting Party (Sarah, Mark, Brona):

The three of you leave to scout around the town.

((Yellow: Spa
Fuchsia: Contest Hall
White: Pokemon Center
Gray: Mart
Building number 3: Daycare of course.
Teal splotch is a pond as usual.))

There are no fewer than eight sets of sentries spaced around the town ((at N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, and NW)), though thanks to Mark’s binoculars you at least gain the reassurance that most of them don’t have many Pokemon. ((Exceptions being the two sets on the road.)) Mark can also make out more Grunts in the town itself, and at least one Taskmaster. There are no townspeople in evidence at all.

On the south end of town you get a clear view of the Daycare: there are Pokemon in the fenced in area behind it, separated into pairs ((evolved forms of common Grunt Pokemon)), and its southwest side is lined with cages.

Each of the last contains a Pokemon, and while the cages themselves and plain distance keep you from identifying most of them, even from here it's obvious that several have the black-purple coloration indicating they've been Shadowed ((which if you don't already know IC you can ask Dien or use your Pokedexes to find out)) and one or two have something...off about their outlines. Some of the healthier-looking, non-Shadowed Pokemons’ cages are being removed from the stack as you watch, and loaded onto a flatbed cart.

Dodging one of the sentry groups temporarily drives you further south of town, where the main road branches off to Keida. Here, a few Berry plants are growing. They look to have been carefully tended:

As you continue in your wide circle you also get a clear view of a lone Bandra helicopter on the west side of town. Into this several more Grunts are loading boxes and multiple glass tubes containing Pokemon eggs. A clumsy Grunt drops one of the boxes, spilling a horde of brightly colored buns over the ground, and for a while afterwards you can hear his sporadic griping on the wind as he’s made to clean up the mess.

Circling north of town now,  you overhear a pair of the sentries complaining about having to run double watches until their reinforcements arrive—though they squabble about whether that’s going to be one day from now or two. Aside from that, however, there seems to be nothing else of note happening, and you make it back to the others without being spotted.

The group makes it back to the rest of the squad without any incident, Brona quickly seeking out Dien to give his report. He does so with a hushed voice, telling the leader where the sentries were placed and how the town layout is. He also make sure to tell Dien about the reinforcement arriving in a day or two.

"I think if we part in two, half of us might try to capture their helicopter and another smaller group might try and release the shadowed pokemon and retreat to assist the first group, hopefully the shadowed pokemon will create havoc and do some of the work for us." Brona finishes. "That's at least what I think might work. This way we can take the pokemon center after, hopefully finding some potions there to assist us in between battles."

Dien nods, and invites the rest of those present for their input. Once the details are hammered out, he divides the group up for the attack.

((Anyone have anything to add to the plan, do it now. If you don't, let me know which part of the attack you want your character and your puppet to be in; anyone I don't hear from in a reasonable amount of time will be assigned randomly.))

----------------

Mina listened to the report, expression serious. "Works for me, but we'll have to do something to keep Bandra from fortifying the Pokemon Center themselves in the mean time. Otherwise we'll never get them out." Mina considered for a moment before suggesting, "I could try to have Pikachu knock out the power. The down side being we wouldn't be able to use it ourselves until we could get it back up again. I'm open for better suggestions if any of you have any."

"By that time the ones releasing the cages might be finished and on their way to assist us, that way we could possibly outmaneuver some of the other grunts."

Main Group:

"Good," says Dien. "We attack at 8PM. I'll see all of you at the Pokemon Center."

The attack force then splits up and makes their way to their respective positions.

----------------

Helicopter Group:

By the time you are in position, the last of the eggs has been loaded and the Grunts are strapping the final boxes into place, preparing for takeoff. There are six of them, overseen by a Bandra Taskmaster and her Machoke--the Pokemon's skin gleams with unusual vitality, given that it's Bandra-trained. One of the Starlight Squad mentions via whisper that three of the sentry groups (one of which is a road group) are also in close range and might be a problem if you're not careful. Dien can be observed checking his watch and firing off a quick text message before motioning for the attack.

((Surprise attack, so you guys go first.))

----------------

Shadow Pokemon Group:

You creep closer to the Daycare Center. The non-Shadowed Pokemon have been removed from the stack since the scouting party left; you see them being trundled away on a cart, heading north out of town as you approach. Murkrow, Poochyena and Houndour are prevalent among those remaining, but there are a few more unusual Pokemon as well as the common Grunt species present--all Shadowed.

Among these last, Stacey recognizes her Sandshrew ((!!!)): aside from being Shadowed the Ground type has had both front legs amputated. Odd metal "cuffs" encircle where the limbs used to be, and wires are trailing out of them. On closer inspection a few of the others have obviously been experimented on as well, though not all in the same way, and every last cage has a sheaf of papers clipped to it.

As your group prepares to attack, you note there are two sentry groups in striking distance of you, plus another four checking on the Pokemon in and around the Daycare.

Judging by the orders coming from the north end of town, a Taskmaster ((different from the one by the helicopter)) is also nearby, though far enough from your position you probably won't have to worry about him immediately.

((Again, surprise attack, so you guys go first.))

The starlight squad member orders Remoraid to psybeam and Kadabra to use confusion at the Machoke, the last Kadabra is ordered to use Calm Mind.

Brona notices that the other member targets the Machoke and decide to focus on the other Bandra grunts, hoping not to damage the helicopter as it is a possible escape vehicle. "Growlithe, use flamewheel and try to hit as many of the Bandra members inside the helicopter as possible! Gengar, try hypnotizing the leader! Magby, use ember toward the grunts! Rhyhorn, use fury attack toward the Bandra members outside the helicopter! Grimer, use sludge toward the window of the helicopter to stop them from taking off! Twiggin, use your quick attack to scout the surrounding and warn us where others might be coming from!"

Brona takes a deep breath and watch as most of his pokemon charge the Bandra members by the helicopter. Hopefully they will be down before they even know what happened.

Pissed that the search lead to nothing, Christian went to sleep.

((The search was stretched over such a long time I've forgotten most of the clues. And thanks to a fire burning down my house and both of my PCs crashing, killing all of my notes I had on the search. I remember that there was a letter with many numbers, S, E, W and N. While I personally assume S,E,W and N means South, East, West and North, the numbers confused me "1meter south? 2 meters north? 5 steps north?". Heck, I even drew a picture of how Christian would've walked if he was to follow it like "Take this many steps north, this many steps south, etc." and the end result was him walking in a big square, ending up where he had started... Plus, there was no logical reason for Christian to go assume the numbers and letters meant "go X steps/meters/feet/distance south/north/west/east...

Anyway, this all boils down to: What the heck was I suppose to do???))

Mina:

Mina called out three of her Pokemon, figuring she'd spare the Rock-weak and more experienced Pokemon for after she knew what she was fighting. Pikachu she told to Thunder Wave one of the Grunts Brona hadn't already targeted, but Mina hesitated over attacking the rest; she was desperately short of attacks that only incapacitated the target. At last she settled for having Sandshrew use Defense Curl and instructing Oodramer to blast the first Pokemon out with Bubblebeam, figuring that would be safe enough with so many Rock, Ground and Fire types in Bandra's ranks.

One of the Starlight Squad members called Sanderson (though for whatever reason he'd insisted she call him "Sparky") called out his trio, one of which was a Meowth--this he ordered to Fake Out a different Grunt, calling a warning to his fellows that it wouldn't hold the Grunt for long. The other two--both unfamiliar, a dark little helmet-shaped Pokemon she remembered from the Shrine of Light ((Cosmas)) and something that looked like a blob of clay or a fish with no fins ((Inkel))--he had follow Mina's lead, calling for Flash and Mud Slap respectively.

----------------

Helicopter Group:

((Quick Claw roll (Tomas' Absol) = 20))
((Quick Claw roll (Oodramer) = 47))

The attack goes well, at least as far as the attackers ((read: us )) are concerned. The interior of the helicopter is quickly billowing smoke--one thoroughly distracted Grunt is frantically slapping at his burning uniform, and some of the boxes inside have caught fire, being simple cardboard. Another Grunt manages to call out his Pokemon ((Graveler, Sandshrew)) before going down under Rhyhorn's attacks--but both of them take one look at their fallen trainer and bolt. The rest of the Pokemon that make it out of the Grunt Pokeballs are quickly taken out by Dien's Lanturn with assistance from his Furret ((Bubble + Helping Hand = 19 damage to Machoke, rest are KO'd)), and the Grunts themselves sent running courtesy of Houndour's Roar.

The net result is that the Grunts in the helicopter are neutralized in short order, and the helicopter itself is abandoned. By all save the Taskmaster--Gengar's attempts to Hypnotize her go wide, as he can't get past her Machoke, and she is able to send out more of her Pokemon.

Kadabra 1 uses Confusion! ((Roll = 27))
Machoke is hit for 27 damage!
It's super effective!

Remoraid uses Psybeam! ((Roll = 35))
Machoke is hit for 15 damage!
It's super effective!

Carvanha uses Scary Face! ((Roll = 75))
Machoke's Speed falls sharply!

Absol whipped up a whirlwind!

Bandra Taskmaster sends out Sandslash, Graveler, Onix and Steelix!

Each of the Taskmaster's Pokemon show the same unusual health as the first. ((Contest Boosts, if you haven't figured it out already.))

Cosmas uses Flash!
The Accuracy of all enemy Pokemon falls! ((Seeing as there's only five of them...))

Oodramer uses Bubblebeam! ((Roll = 44))
Sandslash is hit for 22 damage!
It's super effective!

Inkel uses Mud Slap!
Sandslash is hit for 5 damage!
Sandslash's Accuracy falls!

Moments later Twiggin comes pelting back from the west, shrill voice calling. The noise--and the light from attacks and opening Pokeballs--have caught the attention of the sentries, who are rushing to the aid of their fellows. It seems the rest of the Bandra forces will not go down so easily.

Shadow Pokemon Group:

You are creeping ever-closer to the cages when the ruckus from the other group's attack begins. Confused shouting breaks out as the Grunts near the cages try to figure out what's going on.

Then the confusion is suddenly directed a lot closer as Ariados' Shadow Sneak smashes into the lock on a cage; fortunately these are not as durable as the cages themselves, being built to keep Pokemon in rather than out. The lock breaks and the door swings open, just enough for the Poochyena imprisoned within to squirm out, and promptly go chasing after a Grunt, snarling.

Lapras uses Sing! ((Roll = 72, 55, 39 - miss, hit, hit))

Lapras' haunting melody causes two of the Grunts to fall flat on their faces, snoring faintly. Skarmory's Swift nails a couple more Grunts ((2, since Swift is a multi target move and Skarmory has a Special Attack of 22)) before they can reach their Pokeballs.

Ralts uses Lucky Chant!
Allies are protected from critical hits!

The group has managed a tentative foothold, but around town you hear the surprised shouts of the sentries nearby as they converge on your position. ((Two rounds before the first sentries arrive. In the mean time, you can battle these!))

The next morning you are called to Selene's office. The guards let you in as usual; this time Selene has her Bronzong floating behind her, but otherwise the room looks much as it always has.

Selene gives you a look that is almost sad, at first, but the emotion quickly melts away. She rolls out a map of the region over her desk as she speaks.

((The little one at the top is Prai.))

"You should be ready for your next assignment. There's a man in the town of Prai" Selene points to a small settlement on the map, south of Stardust City "his name is Smith Blakes and he has information we need. I want you to capture him, and bring him to Stardust City alive. It would be preferable if you didn't bring the whole town after you, but not necessary. I am sending three Grunts with you for backup, and I've arranged a helicopter to take you to Stardust. There will be a jeep waiting for you there. Any questions?"
