Btw there is no affirmed answer to the question "is eating murdered animals ok?" But you could always go with the majority and say "normal"

Dang I tried to make an argument that they wouldn't have accomplished anything alive and no one would miss them, but my research backfired. Stupid non-stupid livestock.

The answer is simple really, because we have to eat to survive. Yes there are green plants to devour also. However, just because they are not life as we recognize it, does not mean they too are not a life form.
We say they do not feel pain, or such, but do we really know? They may feel pain in a totally different way then we can even comprehend, let alone gage. Just because they can not convey this to us, does not mean that they are not as intelligent (in a different way) or even more so then animals..or even us.
Imagine what a mighty oak, which has lived hundred of years might 'know' if we could communicate with them? They might make people like Steven Hawkings look like they have the iq of 3.
And for all we know it could be worse to eat plants. They might 'survive' till the last part of them is gone..
Improbable? Perhaps, but I think Vegans might want to 'chew on that' before condeming meat eaters  .
Edit : Hehe well I was only doing my job as 'devil's advocate' to get people to think. But look what I found while surfing the web...

This is completely off topic I know but I just have to say this after Mysti's post.
At least the plants remember the temperatures, humidity and light conditions from earlier years.

We eat meat out of mercy, because all you herbivores are eating the animals' food, so they are starving to death. 
I could not live one day without eating a piece of juicy steak, really. Meat is just godly. Grass (weed) is for smoking, not for eating.

However I do agree that we kill to many animals, like 30% of all food is thrown away.
And hunting is an evil act too. You are perfectly fine with buying your food in the local food store.
