Pokemon White and I started with Tepig of course. (all the other were so ugly =P)
I was just about to ask when it would be socially acceptable to talk about the new pokemon...

Got my version of Pokemon Black.
I started with Tepig as well. It's a Pignite now.
I'm in the middle of my second gym battle as I write this.

I got both Pokemon Black and White, but I'm not even at the second gym yet on my Pokemon Black version, because I got all three starters on my Black version.

White and Oshawott. Should I give a little spoiler how you can get (I think) a type that is strong against the type your starter is weak against?  Still, only just finished first gym, cause Gamestop forgot to call me and I got it late  Not to mention college, work, and sleep. 
I have in my group, the starting water type, the one that kinda reminds me of Oshawott, Patrat, Lillipup, Purloin, and Pansear (gotten from the above spoiler. Pansage or Panpour is also available instead I BELIEVE. I don't like two normal in my group, so asap I will replace at LEAST one of them.
Edit : WOOOT...FINALLY they have a PURE flying pokemon. Not any of this only dual type crud. Tornadus. Now..to actually CATCH one. I hated the fact that every flying I've encountered has had two types . Yes, I prefer single type pokemon except legendary. Dragon/Electric should be fun. Can't wait to catch that fire/psychic also.

I'm just glad they actually have a flying Pokemon which I like, I just love my Swoobat! 
I also have a Pignite, but he will soon become the next thing whatever that is .

Well dual types are ok, except when you get into the 4x damage area. Just decimates the pokemon, regardless of how potent it is. 2x damage is bad enough. Of course they sometimes cover for vulnerabilities also.

Ok, just a few issues.
- Is it me or do some of the battle graphics look downgraded? I like the added animations to the pokemon themselves but some of the attack animations just seem like they were better in HeartGold and SoulSilver.
- I kinda miss having one of the little buggers follow me around. I thought it was cool how they made it work in the last instalments.
- I'm pretty sure I just battled what looked like a garbage bag pokemon. Just...wow. And that tadpole one with the creepy face. What's up with that?

Seconded! I'd also like to put in a word for having a separate pocket for Pokeballs. Why did they get rid of that???

Personally losing all patience with the Tympoles or whatever; I don't care for their design and Round's animation noise is grating. >.<
I would also like some nasty words with whoever decided to have the amount of XP you get dependant on how strong your Pokemon is compared to your opponent. I like being able to grind a little when the game is shiny new and interesting! That way when the shiny wears off I can coast to the interesting parts.
That said, I do like that the TMs are reusable; I've actually been using them this time around.

I seriously think Ruby is more good-looking. And I hate when they are messing with my camera view!
I just wish they would give me a proper constant RTS Pokemon-view from well above the character that it's supposed to be...
Now that being said, I personally think they have A LOT cooler Pokemons here then in Diamond/Pearl and after all that's the only thing that matters.

Some of them are cool. Yes. I'll give you that. But others, no creativity put in at all.
Oh and some of the lines the opposing trainers spit out before and after battles...yeah. I know they can be pretty dumb. I've played enough of these games to know that but come on.
The plasma grunts are the worst.
"Let's scream plaaaasssssmmmmaaaa every time we mess up"
I know the game is targeted at a younger audiance but at least try to put a little effort into it lol.

Another thing that bothers me greatly is how they are "forcing" the story-line on you. I just don't like it when people are pestering my character.
Ahh so hard! Who should I give Strength to?
My Tirtouga? or my Pignite? :/

Ohforf, think about what you're asking: if the SMs suddenly became TMs and became unlimited use, EVERY SINGLE GRUNT IN BANDRA would have unlimited access to Earthquake, Protect, etc. the minute they got their hands on one SM/TM. Instead they need hundreds of the things to outfit their army, so you only have to fight foes like that sporadically instead of all the time.

In that regard. Yes it's probably better that way.
It never occured to me that we weren't the only ones who could use tm/sm.
On the other hand, Helnith is much more "alive" than the games, where it seems like you often are completely alone in a world that's all about you. So I guess it makes sense.
Also, it's not like I need them that much, apparently, smeargle can breed moves down to eevee. Um at least if it works like in gen II.
Edit: Um the last post, it was also only for fun. I didn't really think I'd change your mind. I just thought your comment was funny in regard to that you'd abbondened the concept yourself.

IIRC yes, passing down SM/TM/HM moves via breeding works in D/P also. (Has to be a move the baby could learn via SM/TM/HM, but I think you know that already.)
And I'm not mad.  FYI that's also why the multitarget moves are set up the way they are.
