I can testify to the challenge of such a run, even though it was only part of a nuzlocke challenge, I can still imagine it as pretty though without the death rule(maybe even more difficult, seeing as this means you ONLY get eight pokémon, and have no way of getting rid of one once it is captured).

Well, the only time I change my Pokemon is when I need a random one for moves like Rock Smash or Cut to cut bushes etc (after that they're going back). I never change Pokemon to match enemy types, even when I'm at a disadvantage. I play with my favorite ones (the Iron Six ) all the time. The key here is that I'm trying to give my Pokemon as many different type abilities as possible, to counter as many enemy types as possible...

As for X/Y itself. I have found the game to be challenging so far, having had plenty of times where I go "Ohh snow, what do I do what do I do?!". That flying/fighting bird being a big cause for such "Ohh snow", Sky battles being another(Only got Gale the Pidgey/Pidgeotto/Pidgeot) and some trainer battles

Yeah, Sky Battles. There was this one in which the rival trainer had an Emolga as one of his Pokemon. And you know what does that mean, don't you A natural enemy for any bird Pokemon, as it's a flying Electrical Pokemon. I only had one flyer so I gave him a Rocky Helmet to make some dmg, and spammed with potions to withstand his hits...

Don't remind me...
I walked up to the guy and was all like "Ohh, you want a sky battle, eh? Sure why no-OMFG YOU GOT AN EMOLGA!"
All I had was Pidgeotto, who almost got killed 10 times(I know it was 10 cause spark only has 10 PP, and I had only 10 Super potions).
Barely surviving the first Emolga, and having dealt with it, I braced myself for the other two pokemon, which I was sure would be two NEW emolgas.
Then they were something else entierly, and there was much rejoicing.

Ha, same here. I had double-trouble cus my birdy was Flame/Flying and rivals second Poke was a Wingull (Water). Fortunetly he was not that big of a deal after Emolga, so it went smoothly...

BTW guys, some of you might not know. If you Rock Smash rocks in Glittering Cave, there is a chance (it's random) you'll find Old Amber. Take it to the Fossil Lab, and you'll get a fresh, genuine Aerodactyl I've only read about it recently and had the luck of finding it quite fast...

I just realized, after looking it up, that the very first Hippotimus(or whatever that ground-type hippo is called) I met was a freaking SHINY!

There I go for never playing Gen 4....

Screw Whitney, her Miltank was a toddler compared to this one!

So I come out, just done defeating Korrina and getting my Mega Evolution permission bracelet. At the top of the world I go out to route 12, and there I met a breeder.
I fight the breeder, who has a Zangoose and a Miltank.
Out to fight them is Thumper the Steelix, who with his dig OHKOes the Zangoose.
And then out comes the Miltank, around the same level as Steelix, with higher speed.
But I think nothing of it as I think "Hey, Normal-types are not very effective against steel-types right? What could possibly go wrong! Use dig!"
And then my mistake becomes clear as crystal, when that OVERGROWN MILKBOTTLE OF A COW USES THAT GOD AWFUL MOVE, bide.

*Sigh*

And do you know what the worst part is? Just 10 seconds before I had said to del_diablo, who I was chatting with at the time "God, I love my Steelix! She is like the best guy ever!"

Yup.

R.I.P. Thumper the Steelix, level20-37

I wonder if I can get a refund?

I know it's barely been five minutes since last one but.

R.I.P Grace the Rhyhorn, level 17-27

No Rhyhorn Racing for me.

This marks the first time I've lost a pokémon to a rival in a Nuzlocke run. Damned Selena and her Absol with pursuit <.<

Also, I got three questions for you guys:
1) Do you play with battle style SET or SHIFT?
2) For those of you who play female characters, is the main rival Male or Female(I have started to wonder whether Selena is the female player character or an set character)
3) Are you guys connected to the internet? And if so, what are you characters names? My character is Xion from Norway.

Serena is the default rival to male characters

if the player character is female, you play *as* Serena and your adversary is the male PC (who is named Calem)

Apparently your Berry plants can be infested! I'm currently fighting off an invasion of Bug Pokemon (mostly Volbeat) with my newly-evolved Meowstic.

Edit:

Is it just me or did they keep critical captures?

Edit:

BAGON?! You're kidding me! Pity it's not a Psychic type...

And yet my non-psychic Pokemon learn psychic moves. I had my Quilladin learn a rock move. I also met only 1-2 characters who nicknamed the Pokemon. Dude nicknamed his Farfetch'd "Quacklin'". Weird thing is, it's the only Pokemon I have that knows False Swipe. Can't even teach it to Quilladin.

Anybody heard about the supposed Luminose City glitch? Some players report that if you save inside the city your game file becomes corrupted and you must erase it and start from scratch. I'm full of worries as I finished the game yesterday in Luminose. When I go back home I could be in for a big surprise

Look out guys just in case...

Crap, in that case my game is über-corrupted as this is the fifth time I end my game in Luminose City.

EDIT:

Also, just finished the fourth gym("just" means yesterday) with my awesome team that I hope to keep to the end:

Btw, am I the only one who is a bit pissed that Charizard gets two mega forms while blastoise and venusaur only gets one?

Only time will tell if the Mega evolutions idea will be popular, and continued as such. I think for now they are just trying out some stuff, and Charizard is the most popular one from the first Gen I (at least this is what various pols show). I don't know about the other choices though: Mawile or Absol for instance, not that I don't like them but I wonder why they were chosen (Mawile maybe as it's the only Steel/Fairy and Absol because it's cool )

BTW, You calmed my mind a bit B-E-T-A, I hope nothing bad will happen to my save. If yes, I'll probably throw my 3DS through the window

That sounds like an unfair advantage. They should've just levelled the playing field. Can't wait for my Mega-Blastoise though.

As for the supposed glitch, I'm pretty sure I've only saved OUTSIDE of Lumiose City, so I think I should be fine on that account.

Thank the Heavens! No glitch for me. Either that was a rumor or I've been lucky. I'm outta this hellhole and on to the next town (nice landscape on route 14 btw). Though I must say sightseeing Luminose took me quite a while. It really is the biggest city in the series history, and quite interesting to boot (lot of nice locations like juice store). One advice: don't take cabs! They're gonna ruin your savings We finally have an answer why cars are so rare in Pokemon games: they're incredibly expensive to maintain

It's a shame you cannot ride your own Skiddo/Gogoat etc. It's a nice mechanic though, made just for fun, as it doesn't add much to the gameplay, but it's still fun. They should expand this in the feature...

Mega Blastoise is Awesome, hands down.

Charizard got two Mega Evolutions:

Mega Charizard Y, which is Fire/Flying with the drought ability(so instant solarbeams FTW)
&
Mega Charizard X, which is Fire/Dragon with some other unimportant ability.

As the names suggests, the game version decides what evolution he gets. Still, I find it unfair that only one of the kanto starters got two mega evolutions. That Mewtwo got two I could deal with, he's a legendary for crying out loud, but why just charizard?!

P.S. I am heavly biased as Charizard is my least favorite Kanto starter, mainly cause my favorite is Squirtle, but my first pick was Bulbasaur, and then Green picked Charmander who ended up as an snow charizard with double advantage on my starter. And being only a kid at the time, I ofc wanted Starter fight whenever I fought him. Made the game frustratingly hard, because I HAD to defeat Charizard with my Venusaur, and I would ragequit everytime it did not work.

Wait, so I can't train a Rhyhorn/Skiddo to become my personal motorbike?!
1st thought) Phew, means I did not lose out when Grace died.
2nd thought) GAMEFREAKS HAS LIED TO ME!

EDIT:

The Luminose City bug is real. But I wonder if it is just for pokémon X.

EDIT2:

I never thought about it like that...

Charizard is the most overrated beast ever in the games, so it getting 2 MegaEvos is both expected and HEINOUS imo. Blastoise is by far the best kanto starter and it getting an (imo) UGLY megaevolution is an atrocity.

(Charizard in the animé <3 tho. Easily the best of [tr]Ash's pokémon)
