SomeGuy, a new user on our board, proposed another very ambitious and long-term project.
The aim of the project is to recreate all Homm 3 assets (graphics, but also setting and storyline) to make the game independent of original content and copyright / distribution issues. Additional benefits from our perspective is possibility for higher resolution / better image quality and easy access to all resources.

Of course, such enterprise requires tremedous amount of effort and multiple artists to participate. However, there have been already similiar projects that succeeded.

At the moment the goals and form of the projects are discussed. Visit new Content Creation subforum on VCMI board to learn the details.

Thank you so much for refering our project Warmonger.

I would like to cordially invite everyone in the Heroes Community to share your opinion on the creation of a new visual style for a HOMM3 inspired game. We really just want to know the communities' thoughts at this point, so that we may establish a visual style that is able to please everybody. On a later stage this will allow us to communicate more easily with any artists that might help us with this endeavour. So please, come and tell us what you think. Your opinion is not only valued, it is also highly needed.

You can also contribute by helping us to write a plot for what might become a new heroes-inspired campaign. If you're more of the writer kind, this might be your chance to take part into what we hope to become a full community-created campaign.

Hello, I'd like to present the lates new feature:

You are probably all familiar with Warlords's Banner, a stack artifact that could be equipped by creature and change it's properties. Here's an example of one giving +2HP to Gargoyle:



But who said we have to stop here? Let's create additional artifacts and try to give the creature somewhat more interesting abilities.

You know, it can be a lot of fun. And possibilities of engine don't end here yet, work in progress.

Motivation of this feature is support for Commanders, hopefully coming soon.

I got this crash

I'm playing map "Lords Of Conflict". The game's crashed when end my turn, and appear this line "Assertion failed: tempOwner !=player, file CObjectHandler.cpp, line 3342" on console window.

And Arch Devil can't move in combat.

Plz, help me !

Main menu now works in high resolution, at least partially.

This time the changelog got really huge, adding a lot of old and new features, including new spells, improved AI, stack artifacts, commanders, high resolution interface and more.
And it all needs testing!

Today we reached a milestone. Since launch of the Mantis Bugtracker, one thousand (1000) bugs have been reported.
Don't worry, only 188 remain unresolved at the moment

Please help us testing VCMI, this is a very big task! The more and the better bug reports, the faster we can finish it.

Here's the new Quest Log:



It may look pretty rough at the moment, but has several advantages:

- Full quest descriptions can be shown, possibly including full story of progress and images.
- Minimap shows exact Seer Hut locations. Clicking on an icon allows you to go there instanly.
- Keymaster Tents are supported. Possibly also custom objects in the future.

Also, AI shares same interface and soon will be able to understand quests as well

It's probably one of the very few new features you can expect. The rest of the team is working mostly on internal engine improvemnts, such as safe multiplayer game and flexible GUI. Also, we're fixing some minor, but time-consuming issues from the past.

Do you mean "center the map there" or teleport the hero there?

This will be good but I hope there will be a checkbox for "AI" added to quest huts--a lot of quests aren't ever meant for the AI to do.

The VCMI team's making good progress!

Aside from these things (and probably a bunch of others), I guess there's still a few spells left to implement too?

He means probably move view on instantly. It looks great, I always found painful the quests handle in Heroes.

Keep up the good work, VCMI! There is so much of those little annoying limits in Heroes 3, and those would be great if removed. (Limit of 32 towns per map, 48 quest huts, 12 letters for hero names...) I suppose you'll remove them (sorry me if you alredy had, I am lazy to read all those new stuff...)
