In the latest version (3.807f) I noticed that the mouse cursor changes to the icon from cast magic when you move artifacts in the hero's screen instead of changing to the artifact being moved. It would be nice to bring back the original behavior.

The whole thing works like a charm in era and actually allows me to play H3 without crashes (without HD it crashes every 5-10 turns-->win 7 courtesy I guess).
But I would like to report two things for Era. Don't know if it is possible to fix them, you see:
1) Move view command is deviated to the right side. So we can't use erm to get correct position and center view. Or at least give me a way to check if HD is enabled so I use modified coordinates if HD?
2) When switching armies, emissaries (ID 160-163) should be ignored and not be allowed to move between heroes. This is because they offer weekly bonuses and if moved this bonus is lost.
In WoG, each time we try to move or dismiss them, there is a question: "Are you sure you want to [...] this emissary? His bonuses will be lost".

The concept looks very good, I think. It'd be cool if this was actually possible to implement. A centred town screen is of course the highest quality, but this is a very good compromise between quality and visibility.
I really like your concept. Maybe the empty space could be used to show info about units, mana points left, or an initiative bar during battle?
I've got one more idea connected with the interface. Because there are more and more ways to play HoMM III on a tablet, i.e. tablets with Windows 8 and apps such as ExaGear Strategies for Android, I think it might be useful to create a mobile version of the interface. For example, with larger buttons and a hidden mouse cursor.
____________
My suggestions are JUST suggestions. 1) I didn't mean to make fun of anybody. 2) I can always be WRONG--if that's the case I'm sorry.

If you don't want to use a 4:3 resolution than why don't you just use one with a 16:10 aspect instead? If 1444x900 (1.6) is to small for you than use 1216x760 (1.6) instead.

Anyway know if there is a way to play multiplayer with more than 2 players with HD+ enabled? Since the anti-disconnect feature of HD+ ensures that the game cannot be continued once a player is eliminated...
Really fancy 4-5 player game, but after playing with HD+ features... I just can't imagine not to.

AFAIK you need at least 664 pixels vertically to enable all interface ebhancements. Would be 1062x664 in 16/10 aspect ratio.

Great thanks to Baratorch for this marvelous mod!
Quick army and artifact management, enemy movement shadows in combat, the extended adventure screen and higher resolutions: if you have played with these convenient features once, you don't wanna play without them anymore!
Nonetheless, some ideas came to my mind which might be interesting for you (these are only recommendations, so do with them whatever you like):
1) why not integrate the F5-options into the adventure screen section where all the other buttons are? (this would only be possible for vertical resolutions greater than 664) personally, I do not like the free space in the buttom right corner of the screen and therefore play in 1180x664. With the 6 F5-buttons rearranged, 1390x782 should be possible without those gaps in the corner (and I see no real reason for putting those options in an extra menu). Alternatively, you might also consider always extending the hero and town lists depending on the vertical resolution so that there is never a gap in the buttom right corner
2) all the buttons in the adventure screen have shortcuts (M for move, C for cast adventure spell etc.). But if you can't remember them, you have to guess or look it up in the internet or elsewhere. Which shortcut is used could be added to the description of the buttons in a different color like it is already done to explain the quick army management, e.g. "Cast spell [C]"
3) the town list can be resorted nicely by using Alt, Ctrl and Shift. But for the hero list, only Alt is working. The move up and down commands would be useful for the hero list as well
4) a convenient screenshot function could be added. For example in Blizzard games, if you press the "Print" key, an image is automatically created in a game subdirectory, which is much more convenient than when you have to open paint/gimp/etc., paste your screenshot there and save it
5) combat screen: it is very nice to see the enemy movement range. But to do so you have to press ctrl or shift. It would be more convenient if the normal range is already displayed while hovering above the enemy stack with your cursor and if you press ctrl at the same time, the shadow switches to the range ignoring other unit stacks. Alternatively how to handle this might also become a option in the combat menu so that the player can easily reconfigure it. It would also be great to add the information about how to display the enemy movement shadow to this page (it took me some time and the use of Google translate on the Russian page to find out )

Problems with 3.807f and saving
I'm trying to download the HD mod and I'm having issues. I can't get the 3.807f to work at all, it keeps giving me the run as administrator error even if I run the launcher as admin.
So I tried the 3.808 RC3 which I actually got working. It looks great and seems to run fine except that I can't save any games. I try to save and it just says "Could not save game as "Test" or whatever I try to save the game as.
I have the complete edition and I even tried playing off the cd and it would save just fine. And when I save the HD mod I save it under 3do/heroes3complete

I wonder, isn't there a slight aspect distortion at this particular resolution as the width of the display is '1.5993...' times its height, and not the standard '1.6' of the 16:10 aspect? It might not be noticeable, but technically it might be true. But seeing as HD scales internally, I'm not sure at all about this. I'd love to know the technically explanation of it, though.

This mod looks interesting, same as the idea of playing in RoE and all addons (AB+SoD+HotA). Huge respect to its creators for having time, will and abilities to make this mod.
Although I don't like the idea of zooming everything out. I understand that actually a lot of HD remakes use that method, but for me seeing Heroes 3 like this is painful. Every object is small, same goes with the town screen. Therefore I would like to ask if there is a way to have normal look (no zooming out), but compatible with panoramic screens?
My native resolution is 1680x1050. I'd like to stay with both battlefield and town screen in original resolution (800x600; as I know HD Mod offers to see it in a window), but without stretched view. Is it possible in HD Mod?
I attach a picture I made to show graphically what I mean.

You can choose from resolutions between 800x600 to 1920x1080 as much as I remember. I'm playing in 800x600 so my screen is as big as in the vanilla game.

If you want to use true 800x600 then you have to set the desktop to 800x600 and then 800x600 in the HD launcher. Otherwise, the resolution will still be 1680x1050 and scaled internally. The biggest difference between these two modes is that the mouse cursor will not feel 1:1 (because it's not) and it also cannot leave into the black bars. In other words, the game will feel more like if you didn't use HD mod at all.

Thanks for your answers! Of course I don't want to have black bars and windowed game. I think some of You did not fully understand me, but it's my fault to be honest. That image posted by didn't clarify the problem either, so I apologise for being unclear. These crossed arrows symbolised not a window, but no-stretched-view. I'm sorry once again.
I wanted to have the game compatible with my panoramic screen without playing in higher resolution. The reason is I don't want to have the view zoomed out much, because it makes everything too small (for me) and the game is painful to play. I already had fun with the map editor while working on my native resolution. It was not comfortable at all.
That's why I was thinking about not windowing the game and seeing black bars, but about making it compatible with the panoramic screen and staying as close to the original view (if zoomed out, then only a bit) as it's possible.
I think I'm going to try a resolution suggested by gatecrasher. The game will be adjusted to my screen without modifying objects' "size" much.
Once again thank all of You for the effort put into solving my problem. Soon, when I will have more time, I'm going to try it and finally play some HotA without everything stretched up and without huge zooming out (even if it means to have the graphics blurred).
