Well I think that there are overall 4 types of vampires. I readed them in a book:
1st: Ghoul like vampire with small brain, walks most of the time in 4 legs and kills for blood. Most of the times cant speak.
2nd: Ghoul/human vampire like H3. Smarter (a bit) humanoid and big claws.
3rd: Count vampire. I think that count dracula belongs to these. They look like preety vampires with charm and live in big castles.
4th: Twilight. You know them and you hate them. Just perfect humans in speed, strengh and beautifullness.

And 5th (Bulgarian vampire) - only a bag of flesh filled with blood that can transform into an animal or a human. If you hit it with a nail or something sharp, it will explode with all the blood in it.

Quote: Slavic and Celtic mythologies doesn't excist, they were folklore or fantasy, NOT mythology.
Mythology is greek, astec, norse, asian and egyptian.
I only like greek mythology, the others are all strange in many cases and most of their creatures can't be helped they are totally crap.
Anyway I love slavic and celtic fantasy creatures, but they never got used anyway, they got used in many other cool old games tho, like kings quest and most of all Quest for Glory I just loved the Domovoi, Rusalka and Leshy there!
I also adore, Barghest, Banshee, Redcaps, Kelpies and Water Trolls, but Leprechauns I don't care about.
Also the selkie only works when you let her turn into a leopardseal and not into a flurry white puppy-eyed seal.
Yup, King's Quest and Quest for Glory...what classic adventure games! It would be cool to see the Rusalka as a sprite type creature, and Leshy as some kind of Treant!

Quote: Balance has always been an issue in Heroes, I think. But I like to think now, they're making a serious effort to provide us with equally powerful factions. Well, we'll just wait and see..
You know, in H5, initiative was the most important element when you played "might" type faction. I see the Dreamreaver of the Stronghold faction has mass haste and mass slow! That's really cool.....I wonder how haste and slow will affect creature's turns? Probably like in H3 where the movement was reduced.....

You just made a hell of a idi.t right now Nightteror. So you are seying that there are no Slavic/Celtic Goods? No stories about them. There are not so many of them nor are they so well know. But Some Celtic/Slavic Legends and myths did survive and that is a description of a Mythology.
What the hell do you think Folklore is about? Folklore is Mythology from "Not so far in the past" and the troll a mother in sweden will frighten her child with is the same troll her ancester used to frighten her child.

I can say that it's not true. I'm from Poland a country that is proud of its slavonic roots and we still have many signs of the old culture existing here. Same goes for the post celtic countries. These are mythologies but as opposed to Greek Egyptian or Norse ours are not documented well. Most information on slavonic gods, heroes and beasts are residual. Thats because when we became catholic all of the slavonic temples, fortresses, and even our vast forests where destroyed. Most information is forgotten. But there is research going on.
Also is the release date (March) still the same ? It seems that they want to work on a lot of things but there is not much time left

The only difference between folklore and myth as I see it is that the cultures that gave us myth no longer exist, whereas the ones that gave us folklore still do, sort of (Europe is no longer feudal, but the cultures of a lot of the countries have hung on). Oh, and the screenshot is pretty cool IMO.

Well, difference between mythology and folklore, at least how I see, is that mythology is a "collection" of myths (stories about gods and who knows what else...) and folklore is something which came from those stories, some traditions, festivals, code of behavior and things like that. Although they are close to each other, the distinctive line between them isn't clear enough. Just my humble opinion....

Yeah I see it, hard to see if it's a obelisk though.
I wonder if you will be able to be at the bottom of the ravine, that would be great.
And yeah the Knight looks stunning.

The way I see it, mythology refers to one nation's polytheistic beliefs, it's pantheon of pagan deities (relationships between Gods and events surrounding them), which were later converted to monotheistic religions (be it Christianity in Greece and Scandinavia or dominantly Islam in Egypt for example).
Folklore, however, refers to lesser supernatural deities/creatures and events which don't necessarily contradict our monotheistic religion. They are remnants of our nation's pagan beliefs, but evolved and adopted in our religion, and we still mention and fear some of them.
There is absolutely no difference between mythology and folklore, it all about the supernatural.
And Nightterror, coming from a Slavic nation (which btw assimilated and blended with some Celtic tribes), I was quite offended by your earlier comment. Can I just ask you to be mindful next time you comment on real life stuff and leave it at that? Thank you.

Just let her go, I didnt like either the spam of Nightterror, she is acting like she is the Heroes developer.
Anyway the pic is great, adding so much contrast between the heights and the deeps of the land is eye-candy

Quote: Weehav a set of 3 Screenshots today..
2 we have alredy seen
3rd is a map shot.. but whit a nice description..
Look at FB
Yes, very nice desciption of the screenshot....it looks like the border between the Holy Falcon Empire and Heresh is going to be this ravine.....although Heresh only became a force in 771 YSD, but I suppose the necromancers started splitting away from the Seven Cities earlier.....but then it tells me that the Necromancers have two lands (The Seven Cities and Heresh) in Heroes VI. Hmmmmm.

I wonder if there are more then the Necromancers who calls Heresh their home during this time.
In other words if there are more things/people/races living there...

I guess by now we shouldn't expect much info, but I'm glad they're at least doing the screenshots. Today's pic is boring. The graphics are obviously very nice, but they look very similar to Kings Bounty (not complaining, just stating that its nothing new).
Unfortunately instead of discussing gameplay here, which is what we've primarily asked for in every poll, we're stuck debating the definition of mythology lol.
Question: In the pic, is that a bridge or a fortress wall?
