The answer for that, is simple: Incompetence!

They did not know how to sync the Might Hero's attack correctly so they decided to delete it altogether and replace it with this.

Well yes, maybe, but frankly the skill system they mention from the early draft sounds to me much better than the current pick-whatever-you-like system which I think is downright lame and one of the major letdowns of the game for me.

I do not care for the new system either.  I feel it's a step back from Heroes 5, which had a pretty solid skill system.  

I really hope they fixed the catapult line since the beta.  If not, it's worthless.

I assure you it didnt. Demons with Light Magic? Necromancers with Luck? Fortress with Dark Magic? The list goes on and on and on... The entire skill system was random, which in itself defeats the point of a skill system. I dont know what the new system is like (from what I have read so far it seems to be a bit too generous) but I do know that the old one was a pain in *** and frustrating to no end. You couldnt plan anything, only make good guesses. A nightmare lol.

The good thing about it, is that in the new system you get to pick which skill to learn. The bad thing is, that the skill trees don't change from faction to faction. This means, for example, that Necropolis Might Heroes still got skills that boost morale which are useless to them, and therefore fewer choices.

Yeah, I thought that they were going for racial diversity - but H5 felt more racially diverse than this game.
I don't like the new skill system either. I think they could have kept a little bit randomness in it.

So the people who are playing the game:

1. How is the campaign?

2. Are there any major gameplay/balance changes that you have noticed?

The skill system has been random since skills were introduced in Heroes 2.  Being random does not defeat the point of a skill system at all.  It forced you to adapt and come up with new strategies.  

What is so strange about Demons having light magic?  They had access to healing and resurrection since the third game.  As to the Necromancers with Luck, I'm going to assume you meant Morale, because that makes more sense for your argument.  Even so, morale was always useful to a Necromancer who wanted to mix units.  Dwarfs with Dark Magic?  What's so strange about that?  Good aligned factions have always had access to curses, slow, and what have you since the early games.

Frankly, there were more useful skills in Heroes 5 than there are in 6.  Now we are stuck with filler, like the new ballistics and logistics skills, which are absolute garbage.

3. Is the water elemental exactly like spring spirit or it's upgrade? I mean, I'm not pleased with just a simple recoloring with the light elemental, but still it's better than nothing.

But there were options between the old extreme and the new one, which might have satisfied both groups.

No, not that the insiders helped them fix the skill system but the whole feeling that springs from the interview that Ubisoft cares and listens to the fans.

Also true. I mean they have done a number of things to satisfy the fans even if they did not initially plan the game to be this way. Plus much the feedback we give them comes from the communities. If they didn't care they would not have bothered with.. plenty of things really, including some that have yet to be revealed. Let's just say that they took their time a bit
