What Dagoth said. "Getting laid" is a positive side effect of being in a relationship when you are in a relationship. It's not something to aim for by itself. The relationship is the goal, loosely speaking.

I watched this episode of Frasier the other day, where he starts falling for a girl, thinking she's falling for him too. Shortly after he's introduced to her boyfriend as they're "kissing" (more like eating each others faces  ) right in front of him! 
It made me wonder, if I haven't made the same mistake as well. I've often thought girls were interested in me, and have rejected them because I didn't want a relationship at that time, but what if I in reality rejected a potential great friend?
