I remember how I panicked when I played WoW for the first time. Wanted to save before PvE and realized there was no such feature. And when I died and saw the res system I realized how inferior a save system would be.
And now I came to hate the save system altogether. It ruins my immersion, and when you abuse it it's simply disgusting.

Put in a time machine item and it's the same as save state. I would e.g. by far prefer if one were to continue playing even after death in games such as Morrowind or Doom, where they could just as well be further levels and team mate who could cast resurrection, etc.
Each to their own taste, a lot of people loved the gravity gun while I didn't find it anything spectacular.

Well, in WoW that's definitely not like a time machine. You lose time (obviously), armor value and stats if you ress from the spirit resser, which makes you incapable of battle for the next 15 minutes. So you definitely feel like dying has some real consequences than just loading from save. Not too imbalanced but not unimportant either. Plus there's continuity, not going back in time

That was meant for how a save state game could work without loss of immersion.

Oh, ok.
But.. a time machine. I dunno, I really enjoy continuity. But I don't think it's achievable with other genres like TBS.

Nah, but I'm not sure how much immersion is there in TBS anyway? The only ones I remember I've played are board games and heroes of might and magic series.

I could beat red faction on impossible difficulty thanks to abusing saves. seriously, in the 2nd half of the game, most enemies can insta-kill you. heavy machine guns in particular are uber-lethal.
also, bioshock 2 has even worse (or better, depends for who) than saving when you want. when you die, you are instantly revived in a room nearby without any penalty. enemies stay dead and even bosses don't recover their health. though I wonder if they were trying to compensate for bad balance. in hard mode I'm not sure I would have gotten past the beginning of the game without it. fortunately the difficulty becomes more acceptable once you get some better weapons.

I guess it may be like doom 2 coop, it's just about blasting some enemies with.. and with bullets, rockets, and plasma flying all over the place, there'll be causalities on both sides and people just want to get right back to the battle.

well, I didn't had the impression that games in coop were very punishing, they tend to be very forgiving, no? (though I think in timesplitters 3, you lost if only one of the 2 players died, but the game wasn't very hard)

Yo. Nothing new. Nada. School's over, buddy, it's game over.
Three tries left now, each time it gets even harder than the previous. I wish real life supported save-state abusing. (if you don't know what this means... just go and get an emulator)
school being over doesn't mean that the game's over. don't you have any contact with people during summer? if not, crash some ****ing parties man. get some older dude to buy you some alcohol to bring to the party, and you'll be fine. be sure to drink a little before you go, too. remember about your attitude. attitude is key.

God, here we go again... :3
She's been really trying to get my attention today, and she did do quite a good job.
From patting me on the back all of a sudden, to rubbing her thigh against mine on the bench and "accidentally" tripping and falling on me in the Gym class.
But those are just coincidences, right?
