((Making some spot checks since Jeddite is within range to see what is happening))..Arian is lucky, Jeddite missed the pick pockets. Sadly for Arian, even though the Guard is oblivious to the pick pockets..he comes up empty. The guard is too new to have anything of value.
Inside. The main guy tells Arian the same thing as Jeddite, at the mine entrance, will show him where in the morning, and sleep anywhere but this tent.
He is interrupted by a messenger that comes in the back way...((the messenger of course is Master_Learn))

Dorn Tumblestone strode across the fields and whistled cheerfully. There wasn't much else he could do, considering he had to sell all his possessions and use up all his gold just to pay for his equipment. And even then he only got that darn half-plate because the merchant recognized the symbol of Shinare on the dwarf's chest. Well there was nothing to it. Dorn just had to find a job. There was bound to be one around this ole village. He just had to trust Shinare to lead him right to it.
Suddenly he stopped. He looked around him in surprise and blinked twice. Then he laughted heartily, his laughter echoing in the rocks around him. Shinare was not without sense of humor it seemed. Even so far from his home, she saw it fit for him to start his adventure in a mine. In front of the camp there was a large tent with a lot of activity about it. Dorn Tumblestone smiled again, adjusted the maul on his back and headed straight for the tent.

The wide eyed guard starts to challenge the dwarf, but stops frozen as if something has his tongue. Dorn walks past him easily, the guard staring at the insignia Dorn proudly wears, the youths mouth agape.
Inside the manager startles and starts to go into his 'spiel', but it is as if some force just closes his mouth. "By Paladine's sword..." he manages to finally mutter..then realizes what he says and amends "Forgive me sir knight, how may I help you this evening?" Only a knight could afford even half plate, and while most do not know a Paladin when they see them (unless the Paladin tells them), most know what wearing plate means..even if it is only half plate.

My sources tell me there is a vein of iron not far from the current mine, and I know the mine owner might be interested in it. I just happen to have purchased this land, and might be willing to lease it to him..for a price." She pays miles his fee for the first run. "Again remember, your trips take how long they take, just keep Mama informed."

The man nods. "Just so happens I can use a person like you. I will need you up earlier then the others though. My last message mentioned a possible raid on my supplies in the morning. We might just be able to catch the buggers if we are ready."

He leans in close. "We found a vein of pure enough silver to make Mithril. It is rare, as most silver needs to be processed many times before it is pure enough. We think we are near an old dwarf mine..might even have some Mithril laying about if we hit it."

He nods "Well I will see who is going to be the supervisor, which I think you might be just the one I am looking for for that..but until then the pay is 10gp a day. Sun up to sun down. Since you will be getting up a bit earlier tomorrow, lets say an extra 3gold for the first day." Then he slaps his forehead. "I didn't talk hazard pay with the others! Of course if things get dangerous you will be paid extra, how much depends on how dangerous it gets. I will show you the others you'll be working with tomorrow, would you pass that along for me?"

Mama laughs "What's wrong with my inn? Yes things can be a little rowdy in the pub, but you'll not hear a sound in one of my rooms upstairs." She hands you a key. "Just remember, Mama takes care of her own."

An hour before dawn
As Dorn and a few of the tentmasters chosen soldiers wait for an ambush of the truesilver load...suddenly the whole world seems to come alive. The ground under the entire mine, camp, and for some distance, coils, bucks, and heaves. A plume of dirt and ash comes from the mine, and one of the workers races out to find the tentmaster. He is the supervisor for the miners, and had went in early to test a vein of silver they had hit to see if it was truesilver or perhaps even Mithril.
((The earthquake wakes up anybody who had still been sleeping))
"Everybody, run!" The foreman screams. "It be Karag! Dozens of em, and they don't look right!!" He gibbers something about a tunnel opening up in the earthquake, and mutant Karag before he is gone running for the hills.
The Karag that come out do look 'wrong'. Most Karag are a dark green in color, and these are pale white, with ash grey eyes. They are fast, but their movements are somewhat ... 'jerky'. If they are raiding the mine, it is the oddest raid ever seen. They ignore the silver, and start attacking anything that nears them. They have no weapons, and while in various types of clothing and armor..everything is tattered and hanging loose. There is also a god awful stench following them.

Jeddite had chosen to sleep behind the taskmaster's tent. Which, as it happens, was not in the tent, and thus allowed. He had assumed that it would be the most calm place that allowed him to remain in camp. It appears he had chosen right. Unfortunately for his meditations, even being calm was not enough to prevent disruption via earthquake. After a little bit of monky parkour to keep himself from being knocked over (Elven meditation requires sitting, after all), Jeddite grabbed his sling and quarterstaff, loading and twirling the former as he put the latter on his back. He moved towards the sounds of screaming to see what was going on, and was rewarded with the sight of the Karag. Odd and slightly interesting how they moved... that might make this a little difficult. He singled out the closest one and let the bullet in his sling fly, sending the small, smooth stone towards its head.
