The sling bullet hits solidly, with a dull 'crack'. The things head whips back, and Jeddite could swear he hears another crack as if the things neck broke. Yet, it does not go down. It's head at an impossible angel (even for a Karag), it turns toward him and opening it's mouth rushes for him..as it closes, he sees a chunk of flesh missing where the bullet had hit it in the head..but no blood.

Noticing that this thing appeared to be already dead, Jeddite decided that it would probably be a good idea to take out its mobility before going for a killing blow. So instead of aiming for its head, he fired his next bullet at the Karag's knees and then pulled out his quarter staff to engage it in melee.

Miles was woken by the quake after very refreshing sleep in one of the inn's rooms,which was indeed sound proof.
He noticed that after one hour the sun would rise and decided to have a breakfast and go to the manager of the mine.
When a part of the sun could be seen already on the horizon,he got close to the tent and let himself in,with hope that the manager was in the tent.

Dorn was one of the first to see the enemy. If the earthquake didn't wake everyone at the camp, his shout most certainly did.
"Everyone up! We be under attack!" Then he turned to the soldiers beside him and added. "Stay steady an' give 'em hell, lads!"
He raised his maul above his head, waiting for the Karag to approach and at the right moment swung his weapon from right to left aiming at the creature's head.

Outside the Mine
Dorn is able to fell the first of the attackers, his hammer able to split the creatures head wide open. Some sort of black ooze comes out of it, and the creature falls and lays still. The stench is almost unbearable.
Jeddite is also able to fell the creature, his quarterstaff landing a solid enough blow to the head to stop the creature. Again the black ooze, and again the horrid stench.
Elsewhere, things are not going so good. The miners are NOT trained to fight, and the Karag are overtaking them, biting and clawing, taking them down one by one. The new recruit that was outside the tent is one of the first victims, his skill just not up to the task of slaying ... whatever these things have become. The big man is faring a bit better, though he doesn't seem to understand why the creatures will not stay down. He is wielding a large two handed sword, almost as long as Dorn is tall. He seems to know somewhat what he is doing with the weapon, but as mentioned he does not seem to know how to combat the creatures effectively. It is only a matter of time before he tires, and the creatures overtake him.
There are too many of them, and they are starting to push everybody back toward the mine, which while a good place to set up a good defense (as only a few can get at the group at a time), one has to assume more of these creatures can be found within. As the group is pushed back the manager of the mine trips over the poor recruit..who suddenly reaches out grabbing at the manager..his skin turning white and his eyes ashen..elsewhere others that have fallen start to stir..and rise...
In the tent, Miles hears the commotion outside, but so far none of the creatures have made it to the tent.

Austin was equipping his padded armor as the ground started to shake. With his upper body stuck within, he had a difficult time maintaining his balance. He fell over, luckily only onto the ground, and stayed there until he could manage to finish putting his armor on. Upon completion of the task, he was quick to rise, and took hold of his quarterstaff. He was outside the tent moments later, noticing the mutated Karag fighting the miners, and the fellow guards. The guards, hopefully, could handle themselves. The miners were the ones he was hired to protect. He may as well do his job.
With all the speed he can put forth, Austin rushes to the aid of a miner. He swings his right hand forward, and lands the end of of the staff into the Karag's gut. His left hand then goes for a strike with the other end, managing to hit it in the hip. It goes down. Austin then moves on to another target attacking a miner. He hits this on in the arm with his right-handed swing, and then manages to narrowly avoid being bit. Not liking the idea of it wanting to eat him, he uses the left-handed strike to connect his quarterstaff with the creature's face. It does manage to hit the full length of the skull, but the Karag is now eating some of its own teeth.
By this time, he notices the one he had sent to the ground first was now back up. It seemed to be walking with a limp, due to him hitting it pretty solidly in the pelvis.((This one is no longer a cheater zombie))
He frowns at this, and is pushed back toward the mine with the others. He glances over to the manager, and notices a person equally pale as the Karag reaching for him. Austin runs over, and strikes at the person's wrist.

Jeddite swiped out to batter away one of these undead creature's arms and brought another blow solidly down in its skull, creating an audible crunch and flattening it slightly around the Karag's temple. He twirled and jabbed another one in the stomach to knock it away and tumbled to the ground, sweeping with his foot as he passed the creature to knock it over. With their jerky movements the Karag seemed to have problems with getting back up, especially once they were on their backs. Jeddite did not share this weakness.
Rolling back to his feet, he was about to finish of the creature when he noticed that his employer was down. As the man hiring the Monk, Jeddite was duty-bound to protect him. He pulled out his sling and sent a bullet sailing towards the pail and until recently dead guard, aiming for nervous guy's head. With the assistance of the other man, the foreman should get away from his assailant. Of course, it wouldn't mean anything if his employer was able to escape if his retreat path was cut off, so the monk to a lightly fortified stance and held his ground as well as he could.

Curious for the reason of the commotion outside,Miles opened the tent and saw many people running between the other tents spread around.He went to the nearest smaller tent with hope to get if possible a better look at the events.

While everyone was sleeping and resting, Arian used this oportunity to try to rob everyone in the camp. However, he was caught off guard by the earthquake and he soon found himself in the middle of a chaos. People were running around and strange looking Karag were crawling out of the mine. Arian quickly got a hold of his sword and jumped behind some crates to see if he could ambush a nearby Karag.

Dorn took a small break from swinging his maul left and right to appraise the situation. It could be described as chaos. He felt that as possibly the only one here who had proper training he should make something out of it.
"Everyone who still can think right listen to me!", his shout echoed from the mountain. "All the workers get into the cave mouth, but don't go too deep! The rest protect them from both sides - those who know how to fight from this side, and the wee ones get inside the cave and alert us if more of those things come! They be unarmed, so just let 'em come to us and hit 'em 'till they move no more!"

Everybody (and their brother) heard Dorn's announcement. Luckily most have the sense to follow his orders. The big guy gets lucky, finally finishing off the Karag around him. Between the people targeting the undead that was trying to bite at the manager, it is finished off, and the manager is making his way toward the mountain. Slowly but surely the group is forced back to that cave, fighting now not only Karag, but their own men.
"What is going on! Why are our own people attacking us?! What is wrong with them?!" demands the manager.
"I don't know, but they don't wanna stay down." Says the big guy.
Arian is able to ambush one of the Karag (they still are not very bright, despite being 'cheater zombies'). ((Need to know if you are going for a backstab here, which would be the logical thing for a thief to do)).
Miles hears the bellowed command, and notices the white skinned, ashen eyed creatures (both human and Karag by now), and how they are attacking anything that is not pale skinned and ashen eyed.
Those in the mine are able to make sure that only a few can come from either direction, but none of them yet have put together that head trauma is the way to go.

After the sight of the pale things and the command heard Miles went from a tent to another to get closer to the miners.
After he got near them,from his view angle noticed that the things are occupied with their victims or are attacking some distant from him tents,or mostly attacking only those who near them.
He was able to smell the stench now and to get through the running people to the first group of miners,who could see that he is still human,his movements and color like the rest of them.

Soon everybody who is going to the cave ((let me know if you are not)), is inside the cave. It is a good defensive position, and the undead seem intent on getting to the people, so they are just pretty much lining up to be killed (again). There are many of them, and some are human, but since both sides need only about two people (and the side toward the cave has very little activity, most of the Karag are already out of the cave. The camp is now pretty quiet, as everybody is dead (undead) or retreated to the cave.
Still, the undead do not tire, and take either a lucky shot or a lot of damage to keep down. The group is starting to tire, even switching on and off. The big guy, sweat pouring from his brow, sees the dozens of undead left, and says. "We can't keep this up, we need to stop them for good." He nods to three other people, seemingly trained combatants.
"It's risky in this tight spot." Cautions one, but you notice he pulls out a bag (a small one)..from that small bag he pulls a huge tower shield that should by no rights be able to fit inside the bag.
"Will the cave hold?" Asks a female, who pulls out a bow.
"The cave, most definitely...the entrance, doubtful." Says a robed female who steps back to the middle of the group and pulls out some spell components.
"Nothing for it then." Says the big guy who takes the tower shield. Jeddite (if he made it to the cave) notices his speech problem seems to have vanished. The big guy takes the shield and uses it like a batting ram to knock the undead back. He then quickly turns sideways out of the path.
The man with the bag pulls a wineskin out, and tosses it in the air over the undead.
The female with the bow, draws an arrow, and shoots. It..seems to miss the flask..but you notice a liquid spilling from it, covering the undead who are starting to get back to their feet. The female finishes her spell, shooting a very minor spark..one that wouldn't seem to be able to hurt a flea. As soon as the spark passes, the big guy blocks the entrance with the shield again and ducks behind the shield. You hear a FWUMP, and fire comes around the edges of the shield. It doesn't reach anybody, or hurt anybody behind the big guy.
There is a bit of a rumble, and and the entrance starts to collapse, the big guy drops the shield and rolls back just as the entrance collapses.
"Well, a few hours we can get out of here. Rest up J, we'll need that dig spell."
They all pretty much collapse to get a bit of rest. The scent of burning dead flesh is not pleasant, but at least now you can relax for the most part. As mentioned, from the tunnel that was opened, there are no more undead coming out. Seems that all of them, except maybe a few out of the cave, are now buried under the rubble..burning.
The guy with the bag says. "Well.." turns the bag upside down, nothing comes out. "that is our bag of tricks..I hope J can dig us out before we run out of air."
"No worries, that other tunnel seems to be a bit windy..which means it has an air flow from .. somewhere." Says 'J' the obvious mage of the group.
"Well..if it has an air flow, that might mean an exit..maybe we should try to find it?" Suggest the bow maiden.
"We'll take a vote. All in favor of sitting tight until our friend J can dig us out..say Aye. All in favor of resting a bit and trying to find where the fresh air is coming from, in the tunnel where these...thing came from..say nay."
Outside
There are maybe a half dozen undead left, no more victims (besides who stayed outside) left for them to turn..the ones left are the human undead..who are slow and seem not to be infectious.

It didn't take Arian much to pin a Karag down to the ground. Arian instantly noticed the awful stench, but tried to remain calm and concetrated on the creature's moves. Using one of the tricks he learned during his life, Arian skillfully cut the Karag's joints, thus preventing it from moving.

Arian noticed that everyone was heading for the cave in order to hide from these strange creatures. It seemed logical to stick with the group in this situation, but Arian was too distracted by the Karag all over the place. Unfortunately, Arian didn't make it to the cave before it's entrance was destroyed, so he hid behind some debris and started looking for lonely Karags to take them out.
"I guess that I'll have to stay alive and get my ass out of here... But what if I took out a bunch of these monsters? I could be rewarded for that..."

Jeddite had been at the cave entrance just as the big man said the last words and mentioned that the entrance would probably not survive. He was jumping and rolling away just as the arrow shot out and the explosion sent him sprawling, leaving the monk to rise unsteadily to his feat. These dead monstrosities still seemed to have some of their number left standing, but the explosion had scattered most of them. And so the monk rolled over his staff, picked it up and rolled behind the cover of a rock, catching his breath in gasps and standing slowly. A few of these things were left... but alone he wouldn't be able to do much against them. He was beginning to tire, his blows took three, sometimes four solid hits from his staff to crack open their skulls now.
It was times like these that he wished his order was allowed to do things like carry a nice, heavy war maul...

Yay or Nay. Austin couldn't actually say either way. Though, at least there were a few simple motions that would display his vote. He shook his head in a left to right, right to left motion, and pointed his quarterstaff down the tunnel. As he was doing so, he noticed that the tip had split a little. He set the thing down, and made some gestures. The split became whole once more.

Miles was in the cave away from the entrance,so he just coughed few times from the dust that came from the colapse.
He appreciated the fact he was still alive and able to see people around him,so he just rested silently from the one hour walk to the camp and the running afterwards.
He was ready to follow the decision the group was about to make.

"That be an interesting show ye just put fer us." Dorn said squinting at the giant, "I wonder what else ye can do... Well, whatever. I vote we keep going in after short rest. There's bound to be an exit. I'll take the leas, as I'm more accustomed to caves."

Outside the mine
As the remaining undead close in on the group outside, the zombies numbers thinned out from the cave in, everybody is exhausted. It's difficult even to lift ones arms, let alone battle. It looks like the end. A beautiful voice rings out. "In the name of Paladine, I rebuke thee. Return to rest, and stir no more." A woman, bathed in light comes into view, a white and gold aura surrounding her. The undead caught in the light seize up, and just fall to the floor..remaining motionless..their skin turning returning to a natural color.
When the glow ends, there are no more undead seen anywhere. The female approaches what is left of the miners and group that did not make it to the mine. From the neck down, she is wearing a full set of silvery chain mail (including guantlets and boots .. also the same chain mail). She carries a shield with a odd colored dragon on it, and a mace that glows (though a lot more dimly then she did) with the same white and gold shield. Her hair is blond, long and flowing, and her eyes are crystal blue.
"Is anybody injured?" There is genuine concern in her eyes. Unlike earlier when she called upon Paladine, her voice is soft..you have to strain to hear her.
Inside the cave
After a period of rest, the group goes to the now open passage..it does not look natural..in fact Dorn would swear that this tunnel is of dwarven make. The stone corridor travels on for a bit, with no turn offs or diverting paths. It opens to a wide cavern, that has a strange glowing moss growing, and a few of the Karag harvesting the moss. They have the same white skin as the other undead, but when they look at the group the eyes are white and without pupils. They pause for a second, and then go back to harvesting the moss as if the group is of no interest to them.
The cavern, though it is not carved like the passage, does not look natural and is perfectly round. Besides the moss, and a few smaller rocks, there is not much cover offered. In the center of the smooth room is a pit. You see more of the Karag there, dragging what looks like to be various races bodies to the pit. They throw them in, and a few minutes later a green light and gas erupts from the pit..and not long after that the bodies that went in come back out..but moving.
A cloaked figure stands on a rock over the pit, dressed in black, a staff with a human looking skull in it's hands.

Arian gazed at the beautiful woman in chainmail. Never has he seen a body like that, such holding, and a prettier face.
"My, oh, my... This is a nice sight after facing all of these stinking and awkward Karag. She must be some sort of a high priest or something 'holy'.
Make a move or not? Think, Arian, think!"
The thief slowly got closer to the woman, constantly keeping an eye focused on her.
"Excuse me, err.. miss? Who are you actually?"
