I was refrering to the available content of course. I'd like to know how you'd like to avoid hardcode issues since you need like a complete recode for most of the problems? And with that I really mean a complete recode...

Any problem that can be avoided while still allowing the engine to interpret the content files of the original game (it does not have to mean being limited to content files in the format of the original game), yes. Remember, the engine is being written from scratch. A complete recode comes with the territory.

Factory is not trully represent jadamean, so we still need 1-2 new town faithfully to the lore
Dark Elf, Vory Elf still not appear in the game, besides they are majority in their own continents

The artwoks colour for Couatls is awesome
but now its time for critics, i think Couatls is very strange to join factory faction
The original Couatls is came from Dagger Wound island which is swamp/jungle terrain,
the Couatls rainbow color is too bright, too colorfull for wasteland terrain
even Couatls is re-engineered become Crimson Couatls the colour and stand pose just like red dragon
i prefer Couatls upgrade still have many colours
i think Couatls is more fit to join Fotress or Dark elf faction which more greener terrain

Then Dragon Golem or giant spider/giant tarantula or mechanical spider like in spiderman movie or any multiple leggeds monster is more fit as factory alternative 7 tier
But its just my idea.

Don't give them bad ideas, Couatls need to stay Plus Crimson ones kinda look like Dragon Golems...

Not every creature needs to fit the color scheme completely. That's what I hated about H6, it's just so boring and unoriginal. You will get used to the creature soon enough.

yes many mithologies put  dragons/serpents in stories
i want something new original terrible monster but not as dragon/serpent like creatures for 7th/above tier

Dear HotA Crew would'nt it be better if couatls became a neutral level 7 unit instead and you kept Dread/Juggernauts as Factory's level 7 unit?
I don't really like Factory having 8 units and 2 level 7 units.

Many recent comments from people strike me as fans disliking that their favourite music band's recent album is different from their previous art.

Complaining and telling devs to change some upcoming thing because of subjective "balance"/harmony reasons can be insufferable.

HotA team has been proving for many years that quality is one of their highest priorities and they never failed to deliver. Just look at all their recent posts, for example about coming up with Dreadnought/Juggernaut design by trial and error. Or the post about art deco style and how it's being applied to new faction.

I don't know it that's because of me (probably not), but few years ago I pointed out that pirate units have 7/7/7 speed and it's inconsistent with rest of game where every single upgraded unit has more speed than its unupgraded version. Recently realized that's it's been fixed 2 years ago with 1.5.0 patch and now they have 6/7/8 speed.

What are all these things if not a great proof of how big the HotA team devotion is to original series? Their attention to balance and faithfulness to the game is impeccable.

To sum it up, huge respect to HotA team for what they do and I'll keep on rooting for them. I'm sure they had many obstacles on their way during development but the project still lives on and keeps on getting better.

Two level 7 units are going to be awesome, get hype.

How comes that before everyone was against another dragon(-ish) creature, and now everyone is praising it?

What if Erwin secretly funded HotA, and convinced them to do that?

Well, in the end the new "dragon" is very different than any of the original dragons we have had. I'm not sure if the community would have really liked a mech dragon, which was more or less expected.

While I don't like the Couatl design-wise (vanilla H3 dragon model) I find it exciting that it is going to be Factory's sole flying unit. Sandworms might be "flying" technically but I'd expect them to be rather slow and maybe unable to cross underneath moats.

Dragons are so hard sewn into the tissue of Heroes games that it makes me wonder why people even question their presence in the line-ups. There was even a whole campaign dedicated to hunting Dragons or about a woman becoming one (not to mention the whole Heroes Chronicles bit). You can clearly see the franchise inspiration with D&D so the dragons are many.

Moreover HotA team friggin decribed the whole reasoning behind their choice: whence came the inspiration (and in faithfulness to the lore), how Couatls came to Factory in the first place (were catched/tamed like Behemoths for Stronghold) and what was the further design process behind their looks. I think they don't even need to do that but it seems being such devoted fans of the series they feel the need to come clean with everything, they feel it's no longer their "for fun" project.

I think that the fact we have two level 7 units shows how hard was for them to make the decision and discard the Couatl concept (if your remember they first made them into those snake-like tier 4 units).

I also really look forward towards the double level 7 unit in Factory.
Not just because it makes it unique, but just as people mentioned, there will be more ways to play just one town, which for me and possibly many other people, map makers, competitive players etc. will always be a plus.

So far I feel like I'm almost one of the few people actually in favor of most things going on with Factory, thus I have a question to Hota devs.

Whoever you are, Docent, animator, tester or story writer, were you actually expecting all the hype and controversy regarding Factory? And also so far which one was harder to advertise, showcase and work on from your experience if you also worked on the previous town as well, Cove or Factory and why?

I really don't understand a lot of the controversy myself. I'm super excited about the release and I'm so proud of the effort put in by the HotA team! I can't thank them enough for keeping this game alive and making my life that little bit happier. I think the new units looks amazing!

any news is welcome, I don't understand these criticisms of Hota, the developers carry on the game trying to update it keeping as much as possible to the original, but there are always people who criticize every choice of the team.
before the criticisms because they wanted the Forge, now the criticisms because they don't want two levels 7.
remember that Team Hota doesn't owe us anything, if anything the opposite, so all these criticisms are out of place, if you don't like hota don't play, nobody forces you

Yeah I really don't understand why so many are so upset over certain things. Or the controversy behind the Couatl/adding more dragons.

Like, it's an amazing unit. Simple as that. Like Factory is all about the clashing of nature + technology. And not peacefully.

" By now it is already known that ideologically, the Factory is the town of artificers - inventors capable of creating their own designs powered by their engineering prowess, but also of subjugating nature itself; forcing its laws and natural resources to work for the benefit of technological progress." - Couatl - Factory Nature Tier 7

I am loving the direction they are taking this and I love the Couatl's design. I know a lot of people don't like the Crimosn Couatl's design but I for one love it.

You could honestly view the normal, unupgraded Couatl as a rather gentle giant. Only being able to turn invulnerable while meditating. Having a colourful, dazzling display. Whereas the Crimson Couatl is monochromatic. Armored. Able to turn invulnerable and still being able to move and attack. Unleashing it's inner temper. Not to mention that it is stated that the Crimson variant is just that, a rare version of the Couatl that is much much more aggressive.

So yeah, I love it.

Exactly my thoughts. I can understand that usually bright colors are dedicated to upgraded units, but I got to say that normal Couatl really looks like unupgraded creature, there's some kind of very "vanilla" vibe in that unit. Crimson Couatl looks a bit more terrifying and somewhat "unnatural", so I think it makes perfect sense as a more advanced unit.

Surely I did. It is not often that new towns come out, and the amount of interest was quite predictable. Disagreements, disputes, and exchanges are par the course in any community. I'm neither fazed nor demotivated by negative opinions. However, I would not say that positive opinions have any significant effect on our motivation either. We have our own creative goals, and we just keep moving towards them. Feedback from the users has next to no effect on this process.

Quote:
And also so far which one was harder to advertise, showcase and work on from your experience if you also worked on the previous town as well, Cove or Factory and why?

Now, the Factory is much more complicated. The Cove was a simpler, more convenient concept. There was no need to fine-tune the style of each individual element as precisely, so that it would balance on the edge between 'technological enough' and 'not too modern', and also stay true to the visual flavor of the original game.

And then there's the sheer amount of content. There are more units in the Factory, and they are more complicated conceptually. The townscreen, too, is full of animated details. Even the hero portraits are harder here, as a number of them are recreations of specific characters from Heroes II. In the Cove, the sole returning character was Astra. In the Factory, there are Agar, Wrathmont, Kastore, and some other heroes in the storyline which I will not mention yet.

Obviously, the new campaign is an entirely special matter. For example, the cutscenes we are making for it are on a simply different level quality-wise. Each one requires lots of original models, some even with animated faces. The cutscenes in the Cove campaigns couldn't hold a candle to the upcoming ones.
