I realize, though, that it may work under one condition: simply, if every town gets a not so good and cheaper champion and a really good and expensive Champion.
With Academy, it might also be possible.
I like this idea.
So, the Swordbearer is Champion level unit, while the Angel is a Champion+ unit. The same apply with Magic Bird (Champion) and Titan (Champion+).

Naming a unit after a real world deity-like figure. No.

Fenris? I don't see a problem with that. Besides, this is Ashan after all.

Naming is another big problem.
The only argument I read here is, well, there have been dragonslaying heroes, so why not the Swordbearer?
The answer is, because it's called Swordbearers, and not Herculeses, Achilleses, Odysseuses or Sigurds.
And while Swordbearer is on par with Axewielder, Bowshooter, Netswinger, Cottonpicker or Beerdrinker, it's still a galaxy better than Magic (Arcane) Bird, which is no name, but a description, and sounds like "We-want-to-have-a-powerful-bird-but-it-can't-be-T-Bird-or-Phoenix-because-those-are-already-defined-and-there-is-no-other-good-name".
It's like naming the Swordbearer "Strong Human", upgrade: Powerful Human.
They could at least call it Fairy Roc or something like that.

Now that you mention Magic Birds, they could have named them Benu/Bennu - Arcane Benu/Bennu. Sounds much better.

They probably thought it was no big deal since there have been Thunderbirds in the past,
it's just that "Magic Bird" lacks, well, thunder.

It does sound better.
What would the plural name be though? Beni sounds like a name, Benus sounds...unfortunate when spoken out loud.

I like the werewolf suggestion as an alternative to Sword Bearer.
What if the Sword Bearer metamorphoses into one? Gaining attack at the expense of defense?

But the name has been heavily critized by the whole community, since it was announced.
A crappy name doesn't means it has to be a crappy unit...it means Ubi/Limbic should pull their snow together and rename it to something more appropriate

@ Elvin, @ JJ
Is there a possibility that they will change the name of Swordbearer and Magic Bird/Eagle (or any other unit with not-so-good name)? If they cannot change the unit, at least they should be able to rename them. Right?
EDIT: The community could create threads to gather some better names, and then make a poll to decade on which is more fitting...

Nor they should. Just a name that isn't lame and inspires respect, that manifest major skill with the sword. Something like Swordmaster
@Sleeping_Sun: I'd swear they made some name changes between H6 announcement and release.

alcibiades said: 08.12.10: Name changes and full Haven, Inferno and Necropolis line-ups.
The full line-ups for Haven, Inferno and Necropolis have been revealed. See the Faction Overview for complete information on faction philosophy, core values and, not least, line-ups. A couple of last-minute name changes have been revealed:
Quote: - Priestess is now Sister
- Temptress is now Lilim
- Excruciator is now Lacerator
- Juggernaut Ravager is now Ravager
- Bone Guard is now Skeletal Spearman
- Grave Ghoul is now Ravenous Ghoul
- Putrid Lamasu is now Lamasu
- Festering Lamasu is now Putrid Lamasu
We are still awaiting the disclosure of the 4th faction, due mid-December according to latest rumours.
Considering how heavily they have been critized, I imagine insiders have raised this matter to Ubisoft.
