I never realized Gengar has only three weaknesses.
If you're feeling particularly crazy, Gengar can learn Focus Blast in 4th Gen. Not too thrilled with 70% accuracy, but it's a Fighting move that runs off Special Attack and not Physical Attack.
Also has 120 Power.

Quote: Example: A 1 hp, speed boosted, reversal/flail, etc. pokemon can be lethal for most teams if you haven't set up something like a sandstorm, toxic or burn.
Quick attack, extreme speed, mach punch, elemental quick attack, poison, hail, sandstorm, protect, deflect, burn, wonder guard, ghost type... most of the teams have at least one of those.
Gengar used to be mr.doitall called mcicegar with the following:
Focus punch
Ice punch
Thunderbolt
Substitute
Able to wreck whole teams
But 4th gen made ice punch (and other elemental punches) physical, so it lost some of the original appeal. You can still use seed bomb, focus blast or other attacks in this gen, of course, to make use of his fantastic SP.ATK but the 3rd generation Gengar used to be da bomb.
Oh and the endeavor+quick attack combo is called F.E.A.R.

It leaves your opponent with 1hp left, making it one of the best moves for catching pokemon and making sure it won't die.

FYI all: Arceus event coming up. November 7 through 15th. Toys 'R Us only though.
@emilsn: I'm not sure to be honest. I'm pretty sure there's a GBA-to-Gamecube cable but I never looked into a GBA-to-DS one.

Just read up on it, my question is irrelevant because I just wanted to know if you could get ruby/sapphire pokemons over in Platinum version, and apparently you can without the need of a link cable No worries

Btw, the bots kinda kill the sensation.
I mean, they automatically assume 31 in all individual values and let you redistribute 512 effort values without any "effort" whatsoever...
Kills the joy of having a well "trained" team wrecking your friends' teams because they were lazy with IV/EVs...
Nothing beats the atmosphere of playing it on a gameboy. I'm dead snowing serious.
low popularity of the nintendo handhelds in Poorland and other poor Eastern Europe countries made it sucky though, I mean, in my school, only a few kids had game boys...

I think you're right, at least if you know how to use it, so you can use it pretty much anywhere (the gameboy).
Also, I thought about the F.E.A.R tactic, and I wonder, why not use it with swinub in stead of ratata? Swinub can learn the needed moves, and is immune to both hail and sandstorm, further, use a wall (slow, but high def and spc def) for safeguard + baton pass (slow so will go last, that's why baton pass), means that the opponent can only go for a stat boost.
But no matter how much the opponent goes for a stat boost, unless he has roar or something, then he'll be forced to switch out eventually, and attacking means getting down to 1 hp, and thereby getting beated if there's a storm.
Which reminds me, if you also activate a hail, then swinub can really make a mess of your opponent, by adding some more cheap moves such as endure, and stuff.

Oy, how many of those nutcases on the GTS seriously expect to get Legendary Pokemon for what they're offering?
EDIT:
Obligatory notification of shiny Pichu event. I think it's at Gamestop only though.

On the other hand some who ask for impossible trades are showcasing pokemon.
