Hmm, I always prefered to take totodile for the following reason:
Gym#1: Super effective vs. Grass & Fire (Mud slap + gust pidgeotto)
Gym#2: Super effective vs. Grass (Fury cutter scyther)
Gym#3: Super effective vs. Fire (Rollout miltank)
Gym#4: Super effective vs. none (Dream eater gengar)
Gym#5: Super effective vs. none (Dynamic Punch poliwrath)
Gym#6: Super effective vs. none (Iron Tail steelix)
Gym#7: Super effective vs. Grass (Blizzard piloswine)
Gym#8: Super effective vs. Fire (Surfing kingdra)
At least that was the rule for gen II, for what I remember. Also, notice that their main move is generally either normal effective for the first 5 and not very effective for the last 3 gyms.

Oi. Went surfing for the first time in SoulSilver and what should I encounter? Raikou. I can see Suicune walking on water, but Raikou? @_@

but lorelei isn't in the elite 4...
i actually meant to say everything except my starter was useful
It didn't even know any attack moves
i had to rely on my degong and my jolteon the whole time...
and a bunch of geodudes i used to switch my pokemon.

I got my copy of Soulsilver last friday. On of the few here in the Low Countries, due to some kind of saving bug.
I working steadily on a new team, despite getting interupted by day-to-daylife.
I just need a usefull filler for my sixth slot until I can get my ES-Dratini. Any suggestions from you guys?

At the moment I'm kicking TR out of the Radiotower.
I'm carrying:
Golem Lvl 30
Feraligatr Lvl 30
Hypno Lvl 30
Magneton Lvl 31
Magmar Lvl 30
Pidgeotto Lvl 19
Pidgeotto I've taken out of the box to fly to some places but I have not use him since I beat my rival the second time.
However seeing as the moment I can get the ES-Dratini is nearing I'm starting to doubt I'm gonna need another filler. Unless I need one in the Ice Path.
I'm not going for any particular theme, just usefull pokemon which I think look cool.

Awesome. 
I'm training up for Clair. Unfortunatly I'm a bit short on wild Pokemon less than ten levels what mine are. 
'Grats on Ho-oh; I usually have to resort to Timer Balls for Legendaries.

Thanks, my second highest was what I used on Clair and helped a little on HO-OH, Mamoswine level 41 and hasn't really changed. Also, non-cheating I have a Typhlosion, Meganium, and a Feraligatr by trading from SoulSilver.

I just bet the Elite 4 with a lvl 47 Mamoswine, a lvl 46 Pigeot, a lvl 46 Feraligatr, a lvl 46 Typhlosion, a lvl 45 Maganium, and a lvl 56 Tyranitar.

An observation: when Bulbapedia says an Apricorn is "Strong" in one category and "Weak" in another category, it actually means that it makes that category StrongER or WeakER, not that it increases one to a greater extent and the other to a lesser extent. >.> Wasted two White and two Black Apricorns finding that out.

In other news, they just announced that the next Pokemon Games will be Pokemon Black and White for the DS, they're the first 5th generation games.
