Here we go again, and so the wheel spins over and over until the Reckoning....
We already know that we went over all of this (and even the previous conversation subjects) literally tens if not hundreds of times. Either way, the proper answer to that would be: we can't determine at all. And whoever says it's likely for that or that it's all just copium. (just to not have you say "but muh New Year update!!", this year seems to have certain exceptions from HotA team + the relatively recent loss of the dear leader Docent Picolan R.I.P.; I'm not saying there won't be anything, but still)
Otherwise, you can dig df2's Russian posts and maybe you find something that actually comes from someone who would know that, but the odds are low.

Well that is honestly disappointing.
The last update we got was the Wasteland terrain and Steel Golems. Wasteland is great, but we still need a faction and some units for it and we don't even have a place to recruit Steel Golems yet...
I wish they would rather publish smaller updates more often, than us having to wait for such a long time to get anything or maybe they just announced Factory way, WAY to soon...

I don't play nor like HotA (questionable design choices & balance), but c'mon cut them some slack. Their leader just died. Be more considerate of it and not act like some spoiled brats, you're lucky they are still continuing at this point. It's a free mod and people are working on it on their spare time, they have no deadlines to met and you're not paying anything.
btw the reckoning is at hand

Come on, you can't say "just", when it happened more than a year ago.
I also lost my grandpa last year and I thought about him and my grandma every single day, for at least a year and I still do very often. But that does'nt mean I "just" lost him.
You can't still use the "b-b-but they lost their leader" excuse more than a year later. Either move on or throw the towel in the ring.

There is no need for them to excuse. They don't owe updates to anyone. They do whatever they want and asking a thousand times will not change their schedule neither.

Their dear, close, real-life friend who has been with them for probably even 10 years and was also the leader and the soul of their greatest project, has passed away a year ago. Better? He was a significant part of the project and the team's life, that is why people still use "just", and it is safe to assume that his loss is still felt in the team, for the aforementioned reasons.
Either way guys, stop malding even for the tiniest of craps.

I gave this post another read the other day and it definitely hit home for me. I think I skimmed over it the first time I read it because I wasn't exactly sure who he was. But a few things stood out to me:
- The date.
It has only been about a year since his passing last November. That is not a long time at all. How anybody would have honestly expected Factory to be released last New Years is beyond me.
- His contribution.
As it states, he was responsible for a huge amount of graphical assets. Among other things, I'm sure.
-Lastly, his influence.
He was clearly the driving force of the operation and the person who kept the crew motivated and focused. They spell it out for us in the post, "his unquenchable enthusiasm had been our driving force through all 13 years of development", "He also...simply lead by example, helping everyone stay invested and interested in our work", "It will take some time...before we figure out how to continue our work without him".
idk, reading that put my expectations back in check. After grieving has passed, I'm sure they had to scramble a bit and figure out who is going to do the work Docent would have contributed. Do they even have those skills without him? If not, they'll want to learn and get up to speed with the quality level of Hota. How many times have they ran into a wall only for someone to say, Docent usually handled that..
I'm confident that Factory will be released one day. When it's ready.

Ah, the understimated yet crucial factor of building interest: the anticipation, hype if you will. You guys remember the hype of waiting for the end of the world in 2012 (witnessing our own version of Reckoning would've been a fun prospect, don't you agree)? Waiting for something, and speculating about the thing might sometimes be more stimulating than the thing itself. As we can see in this thread.
Will HotA publish anything, at least something small soon? Will they deliver the long desired Factory update at all? Or will it end up stuck in limbo and lost forever?
Although really now, we might not be mature but at least we're as old as Heavenly Forge now, aren't you too tired with life to act like Post-Silence barbarians about a piece of emotionally charged content by now? Really, even if they don't release new content anymore that's not the end of all things, or is it?

All will agree that when the Factory project is possibly released, HotA will announce the end of the development of this ambitious fanmade expansion? Or maybe before that they will provide bugfixes as a last maintenance.

This is so inappropriate and out of touch I am going to issue a warning.
Complaining about lack of updates has gotten really old in this thread and I have received several HCMs from members (rightfully so) outraged by such behavior. Most people check this thread to see if there is any updates, and if there is none they just come back later.
Please, be considerate. This is a free mod.

Yes and I hesitated to penalize it, I thought a warning would be enough but turns out I was wrong. That's fixed now, and you also earned yourself a week of silence.

He was a bit insensitive - but without being disagreeable, it looks more like an awkwardness, and that was never a CoC breach. Penalties, + silences as in this case, should be applied for severe situations, not like a reflex, especially since qp's are not handled anymore, making recovery unlikely.
As for the "members" who called a mod upon Phoenix rants, what's wrong with you. Can't you just ignore, is not like he is setting the forum on fire by asking the same question twice a week. He is a nice guy otherwise.

well, i didn't sicc the mods on him. i agreed it was the right thing to do when he was warned, but maybe not penalized. i don't think spectacularly bad taste is a reason for a penalty.
and besides, he wasn't the only one trivializing the death of a man over his expectations of access to others' hard work.
