Kudos then that the kobold wasn't a cabir and the magma elemental wasn't an earth/fire one.

sorry I can`t but I think it is obvious. This game is another snow wrapped up in good graphics, lacking and simplified gameplay.
They will introduce a change to the skill system. So what?! The game needs its core changed , everything else is just dust in the eyes of the customers.

I think it is as Oak mentioned some time ago.
They cannot make people like this game if they hate it right now (or almost every its part). But they can make the game better, from good to amazing or from mediocre to good, for people who give them a chance.

So the story goes like this.
Natalie was playing a lot of Heroes VII, and I mean a lot,, and provided a lot of questionable at times feedback - this OP, this UP, etc. This remove, this ban...
She was then invited to the VIP program, demanded some changes - probably connected to her earlier requests, these did not come to fruition so she got pissed off and now saying what she does, probably out of spite. Note, this is basically all here in this thread, if you want to dig it yourself.
By the way, Natalka was also one of the most hardcore Heroes VI players, and we all know what that game skill system was like. So her posts now seem a bit.. Confusing at least.

It is much different than you think. One could give the game a chance if it at least meets some basic expectations. But when you see a terrible AI, bugs that should've been swept away a long time ago, to have a non-functional multiplayer, then I don't see how it is worth someone's time to invest time to play the game and *like* it. Especially when some mistakes have been repeated from Heroes VI.
It is great to see that devs have not given up on the game (kudos to their determination), but as said, it just isn't worth much if people won't play it - nor the fact some of the core features remain unchanged, even if those features just restrict gameplay itself.
And there is also a feeling this add-on just brings on new bugs. I don't know if Shades of Darkness did this to Heroes VI. All in all, if they expect people to like this game enough to pay up for an add-on, they are mistaken.

Unless they got Terry to write an all-new scenario, I think that it's another 'lost tale' that was written but never published or implemented in H4. Correct me if I'm wrong.

This “core” (used by a lot here) stuff is really confusing . The core of the game is the game engine and the graphical engine. I think there is nothing core in tweaking skills, attributes, perks, changing skillwheel, difficulty settings, new specials, spells, spell schools etc. So no “core” has to be changed here IMO. Core change would be: introducing 3D towns, switching from TBS to real-time, introducing planets which heroes could colonize etc.
The change to how multiplayer works is the only one so far that is (was) probably a somewhat core change.

With all due respect, saying that her feedback is questionable is bullsnow. As far as I can see, she delved into game mechanics pretty well, and delivered a good feedback. What is so questionable? Why haven't you delivered your feedback that would not be questionable?
The most confusing thing for me is this: most of "true H7 fan"'s comments are :"everything in HC snow, people only hate ,bla bla...". And now, there is a comment from someone who played the game a lot, who wanted to make good changes (and who is btw, experienced HoMM player) and you again dismiss it. Just admit (at least to yourself), that you dislike anything that is said by someone who has different oppinion from yours, when it comes to Heroes 7.

Can any one please tell me the hamster thing is just a joke? Surely my once beloved Heroes of Might & Magic has not deteriorated to such a sorry state that anthropomorphic hamsters are now a combat unit?

No, actually I was hardcore H5 player but you entered the forum when h6 was out and I was playing that game at the time.

H5 variant where you have limit on the number of perks is what works. They tried to reinvent the wheel and failed. Now their fix is what it is - just a fix to a broken thing.
spells
they will never reduce number of schools because of lore. It is bad as it is know, isn`t it?
hero specializations
they have been told many times that current specializations are boring and they did nothing. Maybe because of campaigns...
