VOD here, jump at 1:09:00, tell me how you enjoy those zebra stripes on the Wyvern and Basilisk.
(side note, that moment when Dan read out loud that question of mine at 1:08:44 was so lulzworthy - "Each hero has access to only 9 out of 17 of the general skills (excluding racials) which basically means 53%. This is the lowest value in Heroes history. How can you sleep at night?")

I was watching the stream and i noticed that there were some sort of color coding going on on the creatures? What was that?
The lich had a red hood, spider had red tattoos and the skeleton had some red clothes... Was it due to the player being the "red player"? Can you turn that feature off? All this discussion about creature visuals and then they get all painted in the same color in the end... please tell me im wrong...
You got it right. That's a feature inspired by almighty Starcraft and Warcraft, as Erwan himself admitted.
For really, has it come to this? To make the game so mainstream about Warcraft and other franchises? Just because it worked out in the past (like inspirations from D&D) does not mean it will work out right now. After all, 20, no, over 30 years of experience have turned into dust. Especially with that claim "no, we don't want to beat Heroes III, just to make a great game". And probably with that claim what turn-based strategy games are not popular nowadays. Is it that hard to just reconsider the approach, rather than ignore the whole genre?
Now I ask - what are they really trying to accomplish? All that gold that was spent, why not saving it for one amazing Heroes game? This is just splitting hairs to get more money out of consumers. The gaming industry does not work this way and never will. People want to buy games to enjoy them, to experience their "inner self", likely even learn some things from it about life, not just to be amazed by those graphics. Too many fallacies.
And how much was learned? Very little - starting to ignore Heroes V and even retcon it, sending the Black Hole company into bankrupcy and ignore the people's feedback. This has greed written all over it - I know it, you know it and everyone else knows it. Especially with that Shadow Council site; while good in theory, the way the site is being utilized is so wrong. Even the votes have split the fanbase into pieces, as if it wasn't enough there are still Enroth-Ashan debates, resulting in nothingness.
And now this Erwan person starts to inserting his pipe dreams of Warcraft? Who has even given the approval of such an action?
Games nowadays strive for more, and Heroes, as it seems, takes a step forward and two steps back. How else can it be explained that we got a random system that many are disliking it? Or certain creature designs, some of which are just re-used? Games change, as do the time and money needed to develop them and that has to be crystal-clear for everyone - including Ubisoft, who seems to have lent the Might and Magic dev team too little, else they wouldn't be in the position to claim they don't have money, right?
This comment I made - it just makes me furious that the devs claim they know what the players want, then take a turn into a different direction, which only a minority follows. While we leave feedback, which is branded only as subjective, personal opinion. And what opinion do the devs have, objective, then? Do they? Are they the "everknowing gods, who cannot fail and know what they are doing"? Or is it just that we are "simple peasantry, who know nothing about game development and are as educated as a hollow rock"?
What's so wrong about color-coding different armies? I think it's an OK-ish idea.

Because... reasons... Ashan...wow... Erwan....stuff...spiders.
Are you seriously calling it a "starcraft" thing ? What the actual snow. That comes from pretty much any game that tries to differentiate its players on a visual level. Like for example, the football match i play on wednesday with the pals where we use red and blue shirts. And i don't care that Erwan thinks he "copied" warcraft.
Jesus, you guys really like to complain about absolutely everything.
About player colours. Wow. I am just amazed.

We should ask color blind people what they think of it, while it's of almost of any impact for me.

Well, they hid the player color thing from us for this long, surely there's a toggle.
Hopefully it'll be as simple as: Those who like it can use it, and those who don't, won't have to.

I don't really see any point in complaining about an option to color your troops since you can use the default ones if you so wish. At most it just shows that devs have little idea on priorities in the game, but we've known that for long time now so nothing new there

It is not just about the player colors. It is that part about "taking one step further" - by giving these new features (which, sometimes are nice, but one could live without them) - "and two steps behind" - by just limiting gameplay.
And that part about Heroes having the Warcraft feeling.

There isn't. This is a permanent feature. Gameplay tab doesn't show any option of the like.

It doesn't matter what you or me call it as long as Erwan himself says that it follows the Sc/War design. And no, it's absolutely superfluous (even intrusive) to implement color coding over units in a TBS to make them look like colored zebras. Civ doesn't have it, AoW doesn't have it, neither does Disciples series or King's Bounty. The only oddball here is Heroes which for some reason has to have it. This is not an RTS where you need to recognize your units at a glance because every second is crucial for your apm. You already have color over the flags, the creature's movement square and even on the turn bar portraits, plus different starting zones, so it's just impossible to have any recognition problems. Bad design ruining immersion that is not even optional.

Cleglaw told on SC that he asked for it... a year ago. There are also 3 likes for that post, so it seems that there are people who wanted it. They want colour coding? Fine, but give other players an option not to have it.
