That's why I say it's a matter of natural selection. Think capitalism - if something is obsolete - ineffeicient - and the competetition is artificially blocked out, then said something will become always worse as a matter of course, since there is no reason to put effort into it.

Which means, the inability to look beyond Dems and Reps will lead to always worse leadership, and the US will suffer from that.

And as a PS, Clinton isn't an egomaniac. She may be power-hungry and very ambitious, but on her agenda is more than just she, herself and her. Trump, though...

He'll screw everything up and find a way to blame someone else. You remember the 24 president Charles Logan? That's him.

The great mistake was to dismiss Sanders in favor of Clinton.

I think many aspects point out that Clinton's agenda would have had the worst possible effects on the planet (see her ties with Qatar and Saudi Arabia, her genuine hatred for Russia and general warmongering mentality).

IMHO Clinton was what the actual system destroying everything wanted, I know it's really hard to accept, but we might have just avoided the very worst with Trump winning against her.

Bernie Sanders may be the candidate with integrity that barely ever flopped on any issue in 40 years but Clinton got a pussy though. Gotta vote for our priorities.

Yes, that's the general view that Trump + Putin is better match than with Hillary and it's safe to say Putin would not have respected Hillary as an president, infact Putin said: He would respect Trump as an president.

This is just random talk of common people but many have said that Russia could now invade Finland and big ol' USA would do nothing as they are so good friends now. Trump said that he would do nothing if Russia would take Finland or Estonia. But, in reality no other president of USA would do any different, he just says it aloud. It's NATO's business but of course we are not in it, because that would anger the mother Russia and we don't want that.. I'm not warmonger or any fanatic about the subject but people are talking but mostly horse poop like always.
Dude, that's 100% propaganda bullcrap, you know it very well. Russia isn't governed by idiots who will deliberately unite entire Europe and the US against their country and quite possibly start a real war. What would they gain if they invade Finland? Frankly Finland will put itself at risk only if it decides to join NATO. Estonia is totally out of the question because that would be war against all NATO members. The intervention in Ukraine - which apart from Crimea was pretty indirect - was a reaction to the US-staged coup against a pro-Russian government there, no other country across the western Russian border except Belarus has something even remotely close to that so everyone's pretty safe unless they decide to beat the war drums and hope that the Big Oversea Brother will come to save the day.

Unless, you interpret what's already happening in the Middle East as some low-intensity WW3 that keeps dragging on and on, (which would be exaggerating), there is no WW3 in the foreseeable future.

Putin is a a former KGB director, so don't act like Russia's reputation is like it is only because it has been "demonized" by the big "bad" America. Maybe it's better that Trump won't poke the giant bear, but still don't claim that Russia will be buddy-buddy with everyone. They moved the warheads to Kaliningrad to show their teeth and it may just be a bluff, but I'd tread carefully anyway. Also let's not forget the cancerous scar that is Transnistria and that Crimea was a shady business nonetheless.

I don't think there is any chance this is ever going to happen, Clinton already congradulated Trump and so on, but I wonder if it's actually legal and what would the reactions be: Electoral Collage Electors

While the actual system (from a pure democratic perspective) is pretty dumb, it actually makes a little bit of sense, America is a federal state, so it's more like a collection of "countries", you can't say that a state matters less in the grand scheme of things just because it has less population.

@artu
Essentially: "I don't like democracy because those filthy commoners voted the other candidate! Alfred, bring me another cup of that 1967 vintage, I feel like I'm being oppressed!"

That reminds me of the Brexit vote, the rural areas voted to exit, the cities voted remain, same scenario.

@Lizard
I believe that's the case, after all, they do a vote on three institutions at once, you can't under-represent a state in that case.

Correct me if I'm wrong.

@Zeno: Yeah, I know it's bull. Actually same fear talk has been "whispered" here for long now. I have actually one friend who reads a lot about the "tension of the world", what leads to what. Personally, I don't care and most of rumours/speculations are so laughable to begin with. Anyway, what I said about Trump being better poster boy for USA, I mean it. "Tension" between old rivals Russian and Americana is gone.

Putin worked for KGB, so what? We are not in a James Bond movie. Moving land-based missiles in such a way is for show, they have many more nukes in submarines and concealed launchers, probably also in hidden bunkers - this is what will be used if things turn that grim, not something with a big sign "Warheads here!" which can be seen even from space. The Russian government has not saints in its ranks but frankly it's no worse (or better) than any other Great Power government.
By the way, it remains to be seen if Trump and Putin will get along, it might not be so easy even if both of them are committed.

Here, in Romania, if you worked for the communist secret service (i.e: you were part of the political police) you may get arrested and brought to court as soon as they find any solid proof. It's in practice since '89 and even last year they imprisoned an old tormentor from a gulag. Even with this there are a lot of old communists hidden in the system and 10 years we had president which was a close lackey of the old dictator and I can say that old habits die hard: just 2 years in the office and there's a bloody slaughter in the streets. So I'm not very eager to trust Putin and as for warheads I said that "they are showing their teeth", not that they will use the ones in Kaliningrad, it's like someone opening their jacket to reveal a weapon holster, a warning, a threat saying "watch your step or you may get it".

Putin was very cautious about that in his welcome speech, it was like "Congrats Mr. Trump, you say you want to resolve our relationships, it's going to be really hard but ok, we are willing to do that, too. It was not our fault that relationships got this bad but ok, did I mention it is going to be hard to get back on track."

So.
Here we are, liberals.
You attempted to lie, cheat, and scam your way into office. You lied and instilled fear to force votes out of minorities.
You berated hard-working, intelligent white men; calling them evil, while at the same time forcing your political agenda on them.
You ran for election with an official more corrupt than anyone before her. There was nothing special about her other than a hole between her legs. But you wanted to be "new and different", even if it meant embracing evil.
You thought you could use a female candidate to play the victim card in an attempt to bend everyone else's sympathy into pushing your political agenda.
You've cried wolf so many times now that nobody cares or believes you.
You tried to muscle your way into politics by scaring minorities, instilling guilt in white men, and anger in women.
And do you know what happened?
Democracy rose up and and smacked you in the snowing face. You got stomped into submission; and the best part is: It's all your fault. You brought this loss on yourself. Your corruption, lies, and bullsnow, is the exact snowing reason why a democracy exists. Congratulations, You played yourself.
And now. Because of that, you've lost everything.
I hope it was worth it.

Been watching a lot of Trump's interviews and speeches and his brilliance really does shine, like when he said stuff like I never take a fight I can't win for certain it was seen as pure arrogance, his rhetoric was crude and radical, but I've come to realise that it's all part of a solid strategy and hell a lot of it you can trace to his business background and to even Sun Tzu's Art of War. He focused on defeating his enemies one by one, forced them to fight on battlefield's of his choosing (the issues discussed were dictated by Trump), got billions of dollars worth of free media coverage and hell even the Clinton site had Trump in the slogan, like the guy is a genius and his enemies were defeated one by one.

Sanders would've been the best candidate to face off against him and I bet Trump wished he did for the excitement and to make his victory feel more rewarding facing off against a person with a clear record.

To add to that I believe that Trump will make an excellent president, one of the best America has had for the past 50-60 years. George Kennan argued in the late 40s and then up to the 70s about US containing the Soviet Union, but it's containment has to be within the means of the US (i.e don't overstretch). This has failed, while the US remains the world's only superpower, it is spread far too thin and with the World Bank and the IMF's imperialistic mode of conduct the US has managed to demonize itself to the post-soviet countries and developing countries of Indo-China and Africa. Being the world police is far beyond America's means, it should strengthen itself at home and then work with the rest of the world, it cannot RULE the globe and shouldn't aspire to do so, there's been a rampant amount of Jewish conspiracy theories about the US wanting to conquer the planet for their Jewish overlords, it is ludicrous but the underlying message has a hint of truth, America has all of it's bases in key stratgic locations to control the planet, but it no longer has (if it ever had) the means to see through with whatever grand ambition it had.
