It's always like that for both sides. I personally hope that the EU will collapse.

blizzardboy said: They were different landscapes. Much of the reason why Europe couldn't be united in the 16th century was related to the religious and political turmoil at the time. Queen Elizabeth was very deliberate in allowing the southern powers around Italy to contend with the invading fleets alone while she consolidated power. She put the Western world in grave jeopardy for personal political gain.
That's why I'll have such a great feeling of Schaudenfreude if Britain collapses unto itself.
Did I ever mention that Sicily was pillaged and forcefully annexed into Piedmont due to the British helping Garibaldi?

You are entitled to think what you wish. But I find the EU destroying the democracy. Not to mention the fact that I want the new economic 1929 crash to be over with before the fall becomes too hard to rise up from.

But it's not like the European Union was responsible for the crash. Plus, why would you think the EU is destroying democracy, when out there, the US had so many wars outside their country, against people's wills (and therefore, against democracy)?

It's not about the 1929 crash EnergyZ, but the coming crash that will be of a similar magnitude.
The reason for why I feel EU destroys democracy is because of the long distance between the people and the decision makers. People have no idea what is decided within the EU unless the media actually highlights it. It's also very problematic to have the policy of letting others who live somewhere else with different views decide in matters where you live.
Also I do not believe the US democracy to be any better. In fact I reckon Princeton University released a study which came to the conclussion that democracy is practically almost gone within the US.
I personally believe that the model Switzerland employ is the one to be had. Representative democracy with direct democracy having the final word in every question and decision.

To put it bluntly, a democracy cannot work in a large country, truth be told, you'd need a largely decentralized government, to allow the various regional autonomies to hold enough power to decide the best for their territory.
At that point the state should basically be the arbiter of the situation, that watches over the decisions of the regional governments and deems if they are over-reaching with their policies.
After all, if I'm not wrong, that's why direct democracy seems to work in Switzerland.

That IS hilarious. Incidentally, my wife and me agree that both Johnson and Cameron look like Matt Lucas characters - you know, the Little Britain comedian.

Well, don't you think there is an irony in having ancestory that you're making a political career by trying to block? If Donald Trump's great grandfather would turn out to be Arabic, wouldn't you consider that as something a little inconvenient for his rhetoric?
