I never liked HMs as moves. They could easily be items, and surf (aka the only usable one) could be a regular TM.
The idea of keeping a HM slave 24/7 just annoys me.

Personally, I found Waterfall/Dive and Fly quite usefull in battle as well. And Rock Smash could be much better if the power got upped.

Waterfall is one of the main moves of gyarados, and a good physical water-move .. so yeah

Awesome.
Starters look cool, so do the legendaries. If the trailer is to be believed, also mixed gen wilds.
So, let's talk preferences.
I like the bird-legendary better and I'm slightly leaning towards the frog for now.

Based purely on those pictures, I think the Grass starter is cute but I'll probably go with the Fire-type fox. No real preference for the Legendaries yet.

Sadly, no. So let's spend our time until then speculating!
They've hardly ever repeated mini-games between games, but if they do, which one would you want to see back the most? I want mining.

I wouldn't mind the contests coming back. The Ruby & Sapphire contests though. I hated the diamond & pearl contests. That damn dance/rhythm part got me every time.
I agree with mining. I miss that.
Not a mini game but I wish you could have your mons follow you around like in HeartGold and SoulSilver. Just a fun little feature.

Yeah me too. Mining was awesome, though I did it for fossils and those were darned rare.
Another thing I'd like to see return is the Safari Zone. Though perhaps with the added functionality to actualy see what effects you're having on the mon. Something like X% running away and Y% catch succes.(Dang just noticed what I did there.)
Gamecorners were kinda nice, though I'd like to see something I can actually win. (Used to just buy the coins for the things I wanted)

^Second this.  I liked making Poffin better than Pokeblocks though. Mostly because I was better at it. XD Only downside was that there were no helpful NPCs to mix Poffin with, so my Poffin were always low-level.

Ditto that here. Voltorb Flip was kind of fun, but pointless since you couldn't meaningfully lose. I liked the Bingo games in XD myself, they were interesting and they had a nice level of challenge.

Apparently the new legendaries have names out! Xerneas for the deer-thing and Yveltal for the bird.

Yeah, noticed that too. It seems the trend set in in genII continues. Legendaries with names that make little to no sense in English as opposed to "normal" Pokemon.
That being said, I hope they reveal some more soon. Part of the prefun, for me, is planning my main team ahead of the game.

I have a feeling the Yveltal is part Flying. I know, too easy. But I also think it might be fire. That being mostly on the basis that it is red.
As for Xerneas, realy no idea. It's shiny, so maybes steel?

Really? I was thinking Yveltal to be Dark/Flying; its head looks like a vulture's and Mandibuzz/Vullaby are Dark. For Xerneas...my first impression was Psychic.

Sticking to my colour argumentation, Dark types are usually much darker and not as red. Whereas Phsycics aren't as shiny.
But then again, that's hardly any basis.

Honestly I can't stand the piss-poor looking 3D of the 6th gen. I wish it was back to traditional 2d view, with maybe some perspective added, but nothing more.

Realy? I find the cell-shaded Wind Waker/Anime style to be rather charming.
Edit: I love the way TotalBiscuit typified the three new starters: A cosplaying penguin in a dumb hat, a poncy ocelot and a frog that looks like it's on crack.

Something I would LOVE to see more of is moves that change depending on the type that is using them. Curse being an example. I love how it works differently depending on if you're using it on a ghost type or not.

Since a new Gen will likely mean many new moves, there is a likelyhood for that. Though they would be rather difficult to implement, I suspect.
I also hope that we're gonna see new type-combinations. I mean how many Grass-Poison\Bug-Poison\Rock-Ground pokemon do we need. It's high time for more innovative combinations. Gen V did that a bit, but we need more.
Also, I hope there'll be a lot less cute pokemon.
