OK I found out how to recreate this crash. I just put my cursor on any HotA Warehouse map object and the game instantly crashes.

I am playing RMG default preset map and am using lates VCMI build,
Tides of War, MDT Forge and HotA mods.

Does anybody know the solution? Thanks!

There used to be such issue with translation, but it was fixed.

Do you use some less popular language maybe?

Hey guys, amazing project very excited to be able to play heroes on an open platform.
A few questions:
- on Android, can i up the resolution higher than 800x600?
- do you support the HD mod ?
- with HotA, i see 1.5 version is available, is 1.6.1 planned to be ported? Will the eventual release of 1.7 be supported?
- how do i play the hota campaign? I see i can use cove town in maps but no idea how i can start the campaign.

1. Wait for next release (VCMI 1.3) for overhauled Android gameplay (initial release date: 4th of august, may be postponed a bit if more bugfixing needed)
2. HD mod essential stuff are being ported in some form, so we do not reinvent the wheel - quality of life features are added over time, some of them exist in HD mod, some do not
3. VCMI HotA versioning is separate - VCMI's HotA 1.5 is not made to mimic HotA 1.5 - it already has some 1.6.1 stuff. You can expect notable update coming with next VCMI release. Porting of 1.7 stuff will depend on any new gameplay features / creature abilities etc. - some things will be easy to add right away, some will require support in code support and will wait longer
4. Not possible yet, maybe will be possible in next release but this is not big priority.

Current plan assumes that after next release the work will be heavily focused on multiplayer for VCMI 1.4. Based on cooperation with polish community in their chats and VCMI discord ( https://discord.gg/chBT42V ), there will be also some changes in VCMI 1.3 that are essential for singleplayer tournaments, like autosaving on every turn or inability to abuse tavern hero queue by poking random generator and reloading game. And yes, there will be singleplayer tournament soon after 1.3 release by polish organizer experienced in this field, partially aiming to gather good testing feedback for further VCMI development. More details will be shared on VCMI discord when time comes.

Some addition to Dydzio post:
1. Resolution selection would be way more convenient with 1.3, but for current release you can install "VCMI Extras" mod and try to find resolution that works best for you.
4. Right now (as of 1.2) Cove can only be played on maps with selectable starting town or in RMG. With 1.3 we will also support HotA maps including all standard maps from HotA release. Support for HotA campaigns is still missing, but planned. Not sure whether it will make it into 1.3 though.

That's the only version that we provide.

VCMI installs on SoD and does not comes with any additions. No hota, no wog, no any new towns, etc. We do have some built-in interface improvements similar to HD Mod, but even those can be disabled if you don't like them.

If you wish anything in addition to sod - you are free to install it via our Launcher.

That was the goal from the very beginning. VCMI by default provides original SoD gameplay, and everything else is optional.

Also, making everything optional needs a lot of work, this is why the project takes forever

VCMI 1.3.0 is already out!

The list of changes and improvements is long. Highlights include:

Not sure if HC is still alive, but VCMI certainly is . Thanks to incredible activity of players and developers we were able to track down and fix a number of major bugs and crashes that spoiled 1.3.0 release.

Maybe a bit unrelated, but how does VCMI compare to HoTA?

I know that VCMI feels closer to ERA as both are platforms for further modifications, but I'm asking more in the sense of how does the base HoMM3 compare to HoTA, in the same way I'm asking about VCMI.

Because I've been liking HoTA for a long time, but somehow lately I don't feel like playing it, but I also can't bring myself to play the base HoMM3, but I know VCMI makes some QoL and other changes that improve upon the base game.

Hmm... How would you compare those I wonder?

- Unlike ERA we don't provide / require WoG. And unlike HotA we don't provide Cove by default. Base for VCMI is SoD. Other than few QoL improvements, VCMI is not different from SoD. Yes, you can install mods on top of it but you're not obliged to.
- Unlike both ERA and HotA, VCMI is cross-platform, and runs on many systems other than Windows - Linux, Mac, Android, etc.
- We do have some QoL features that I think no other projects offer, such as building path for heroes through subterranean gates, monolith and even boats. Or zooming for adventure map. Probably many others, but we don't have such comparison list.

Why not try it out and see for yourself? Perhaps even install it on your phone to get Heroes in pocket?

Hi,

I'd like to know if i understood correctly the following (regarding the VCMI):
Is there anything possible with this new heroes 3 engine since it was created from scratch instead of reverse engineering?
Let's say...I want to add a new magic school, is this possible?
What would be the limitations?

How much percent of the map editor/campaign editor is unstable? Like, is it worth to start making campaigns/maps in VCMI?

And lastly, congratulations for the project. The purpose of this project is really intriguing and mindblowing. It feels like you can do almost any modification.

My concerns about VCMI are in that if they preserved the original game mechanics, or made twists to it. No big deal, as I, myself, am, for example, for stronger AI. But the core must be preserved in every little tiny detail.

Second, the VCMI team doesn't have talented 2D/3D artists and basically borrows the content from other projects, which is not good to the project consistency.

To showcase its advantages, the VCMI team should present a whole new town in the original NWC style. And when this is achieved, other goodies will be appreciated by community as well.

It's just my vision.

VCMI editor can load RoE, AB, SoD and recently HoTA maps, then save it in custom .vmap format.

So - the answer is yes.
