I would like to know the most downloaded mods of this vcmi.

Also, does it have same possibilities as era, meaning there are many options and I choose which one to enable?

We don't track download counts for mods so hard to say for sure.
Most likely - WoG & HotA are in the lead, followed by most popular new towns (e.g. Forge).

Not *same*, since VCMI is not era, but approach I think the same? VCMI installs on Shadow of Death / Complete and does not contains anything other than that.
If you want to get more content - you can install mods via our Launcher app.

Is windows 7 supported? VCMI Version 1.2.1 crashes on map start with error getcurrentthreadstacklimits kernel32.dll.
Version 1.1 worked fine.

Answer is probably 'no'. Looks like we now require at least Windows 10 (64 bit). Anything older than that is not being tested and might break.

Probably because we upgraded our ancient toolchain that we use for Windows builds. New toolchain does have better functionality and performance but we have not tested it on Windows 7.

NKAI crashes on Windows 7, you can try VCAI but it's no longer developed and in general weaker AI.

Are you sure? NKAI works just fine on my Windows 10 system. Using our 1.2.1 Windows release build.

I highly recommend you to either update windows 7, move to linux, play VCMI with virtualbox and for example ubuntu linux or maybe use some android emulator that works on windows 7.

There is really a big difference with using NKAI and VCAI. To sum up things VCAI simply does not pose a challenge to human players.

VCMI does not support WoG scripts, or any other. Only WoG content and major features, like Commanders and Stack Experience.

You can't. Scripts are not implemented. WoG vcmi port contains only wog creatures, commanders, artifacts, stack experience system (sort of) and few decorations and map objects.

well then thats not actually wog. Wog gave you options to disable scritps.
where can I find the mod files maybe I can play around with them?


even after I installed both mods, and then I checked mods directory, I only saw VCMi

There are no "scripts" to disable. If you wish, you can disable some parts of wog mod, such as stack experience or commanders.

To do that, select wog in mod list in Launcher and expand it - this will show you all "submods", aka parts of wog mod which can be individually toggled on or off.

After I closed VCMI launcher, he is refusing to work even after restarting my computer lol. I can briefly see the process in the task manager but there is no window. Thats funny xD



Edit: ok I found the problem. It is because I put "Extra Cast" mod by @Perryr. I put that mod inside Wog mods, and the launcher became faulty lol.
Now after I deleted it, Launcher accepted to work. I will become sad becuz I wanted to try that mod, and also unlimited SS mod.


so I cannot put erm scripts in VCMI?

This is actually what is standard behavior for all software for like 10 years, if not more. Installation directory is viewed as read-only and all files added by user (e.g. player) should go into a separate location, for example - in Documents.

No. VCMI currently does not supports scripting. We do however provide an alternative way to change existing or add new elements (towns, map objects, spells, creatures, etc) that does not involves scripting.

For the first time, i could install, download the mods i wanted, and play a game without problems until the end.
just  a couple of bugs i've found:
-When ai is playing and you have a town selected in the right panel and press enter, you can see the screen of your city with the current enemy playing creatures, this must be fixed.
-Some commanders cant cast their spells.
-The Gate Key artifact, is supossed to let you shoot as inferno radius when defending town, but was all the time even outside siege battles with this effect.
-The Sprites of creatures is drawed behind the objects in the battlefield screen.
-in the transfer between heroes screen, if you put a commander artifact, to the commander of the other hero directly, it will dissapear forever.

About AI, i've played with nullkiller AI (dont know if this is the mos advanced one)
-Ai sometmis dont collect artifacts.
-Ai tries to recuit 8 heroes in the first turn, this makes no sense, and also most of his heroesstart with 1 creatures cause o that.
-When Ai defend a city with more than 1 hero, the powerful one sometimes is defending the town outside the walls, and AI  takes the weaker to defend the siege.

Glad to hear

As for issues you've encountered:
- Selecting castle during AI turn: will recheck just in case, but I believe fix is already in next release.
- Creatures behind obstacles in battle: known issue, will try to fix for next release.

- AI issues: kind of known. Nullkiller AI is indeed the best option right now, but any future improvements depend on available time of our AI programmer.
- WoG issues: hard to say, wog does not get much attention later, so not sure when stuff like this will get fixed.

Greetings,
So I was playing few games on VCMI and even though it has some
great features like being able to combine several great mods like
HotA and MDT's Towns and Tides of War, it has one major flaw.

It CRASHES all the time! Sometimes it crashes when you repeat same action like getting on a boat with particular Fortress hero who specialises in Hydras (I think he comes from Tides of War mod), most of the time game crash at random. Like my last gameplay (which is 2/10 done because all the crashes) crash when I try to load the game from the map (not main menu).

Also there is a glitch that if i keep my view on any HotA warehouse map object OR right click it the game instantly crashes.

I play on RMG with defeult preset.
So if anyone has some solutions for me I would appreciate them.
