Naga faction, capital Karthal which resembles the Agra fort, so basically an indian inspired naga faction with no dragon, just a water dragon boss.

As much as I think we're bound to see one (not like anyone creates a bunch of artwork for Nagas over two years just for the sake of it), I actually like to see one.

We never had such a faction in Heroes before and it would give the devs tons of possibilities for creatures, heroes, spells and abilities.

And just because they are a race called naga doesnīt have to mean that they all have a snakebody and six arms, they may just be reptilian and have troops with alot of variety. They are not bound by any rules regargind mythologies or other sources, thats just for inspiration. Its their world, they have absolute creative freedom.

I would love to see a reserved reptilian race with spiritual and serene qualities, wanting to stay away from the affairs of the other races but get drawn in by circumstances they cannot control.

Nagas were in heroes games long before WoW and have been a much liked creature since it was introduced. And Ubi donīt have to follow any mythological rules if they donīt want to.

Itīs a bit improbable that they will make a race without legs since it creates unnecessary problems with the design. But if they make the race reptilian and only call them naga thats fine with me. Who cares if thats not in line with real world canon on nagas.

I for one would care. In the previous Heroes games the Naga was a serpent like creature with multiple limbs. And I want that to stay. Of course it's fine with me if they decide to introduce some Lizardmen, however calling them Nagas just for the sake of it would seem just silly to me.

Yes, i meant more if the race (as in leaders and heroes) were reptilian. They would of course have to have units paying homage to the look of the previous nagas. I just turned against the notion that a naga race automatically  would mean 7 unit types with snakebodies and six arms but different weapons.

This is also a universe with no ties to the old one, so nagas (lorewise) could be quite different.

*sigh*

OK, if some people are so fanatic about HOMM not having ANTYTHING in common with Warcraft (might as well drop Dragons and Orcs because WC has them ) ...the faction doesn't HAVE to be called NAGA...

...how about an aquatic faction, e.g. called ATLANTIS, with marine creatures and ONE or TWO Naga units? If you still say "NO! Anything is better!" you're being unfair. Of course you may disagree, but stop being so extreme, don't you realise some people (like me) would love a faction with:

- Water Serpent/ Coatl
- Naga
- Merman, male Naga (I won't say Myrmidon because I'll get attacked)
- Sea Monster/ Leviathan
- Troglodyte
- Water Turtle perhaps
- Basilisk
- Mermaid
- Kraken
- other aquatic creatures

?

The marine world is the only one unexplored by HOMM so far, yet it has some of the most amazing and unique lifeforms to offer. Don't know about you, but I'd find Electric Jellyfish and Giant Crabs more interesting to have in my army than the monotonous Orcs...one Orc is OK, 2, erm fine, BUT a faction composed of Orcs with different weapons?!

@Nightterror So yeah, this at least isn't better and more interesting than an aquatic faction.

Actually I do expect that if there is a Naga faction it will be called Sanctuary. And seeing the current line-ups I wouldn't expect too much Nagas either. Except for the heroes maybe.

I'm absolutetly stumped on what they will put for the 5th faction...
but it'll most likely be naga faction... but that just doesn't seem right to me. i was looking through some heroes history and some trailers and i realized that this race might not even come from the heroes World...it could be a faction from the moon??

Yes, Nagas are a reptilian aquatic faction from the moon and their only weakness is kryptonium. They also utilise falling stars as their siege equipment and ride on meteors charging the enemy, much like teh WH40k Space marines and their drop pods.

Manticores are also beasts, and wouldn't make a good faction basis.

But Minotaurs would fit just fine. Anybody who read the old DragonLance books (the original once, that actually were decent books, before they started to make a ton of spinn-offs) would know that Minotaurs make a great core creature for fantasy settings.

As I see it, the viable options for core creatures are:

- Humans (Light, Dark)
- Elfs (Sylvan, Drow)
- Dwarves (Mountain, Deep)
- Orcs
- Gnomes
- Minotaurs
- Lizardmen (call them Naga if you want)

There would be others like Centaurs, Halflings, Trolls, Ogres, Gnolls, etc. but the above would be the most obvious choices as I see it.

There is a lot more variation to nagas than you seem to give them credit for. Here's an article worth reading if you are into their lore.

In myths, legends, scripture and folklore, the category naga comprises all kinds of serpentine beings.  Under this rubric are snakes, usually of the python  kind (despite the fact that naga is usually taken literally to refer to a cobra,) deities of the primal ocean and of mountain springs; also spirits of earth and the realm beneath it, and finally, dragons.

In Indian mythology, Nagas are primarily serpent-beings living under the sea.

As a category of nature spirit:

"Nagas [kLu] are a class of beings (often snake-like in form) that dwell in a variety of locations ranging from waterways and underground locations and also in unseen realms. These beings have their own perceptions and vary in their enlightened level as do humans and other beings. Nagas are susceptible to suffering created by mankind's carelessness and basic ignorance of proper conduct in nature and disrespectful actions in relation to our environment. Therefore Nagas often retaliate towards humans when they behave in such ignorant manners. The expression of the Nagas' discontent and agitation can be felt as skin diseases, various calamities and so forth.

Additionally, Nagas can bestow various types of wealth, assure fertility of crops and the environment as well as decline these blessings. For this reason the practice of Lu Sang has been developed or arises as a natural method to increase prosperity, and assist the Nagas by preserving the positive qualities of their natural environment." ~ Tsewang Ngodrup Rinpoche

A Naga has a serpent-like body. I would be MAD if they made Lizardmen and called them Naga or vice versa.

Naga obviously got popular because of Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne but looking at the concept arts, the Ashan Naga seem to be completly different from those in Warcraft and I just loved the Asian style and hope they do not forsake it.

Yeah those were the days when the Troglodytes and Minotaurs formed the most awesome faction... *sigh* :/

Otherwise I really hope and believe the Nagas will be the 5th faction. They can be made very cool, just hope they mix in a lesser addition race, like lizardmen or something.
