Amusingly I found some Chinese and even Japanese links to the nagas. Seems that the Indian myths have traveled around a bit

Yes they travled all over Asia they just never were worshiped like they were in the South east part of the continent. I know this because I did zonds of research on them to a point where I could understand that a Naga isn't just a human with a snake tail.

Look I think I know what's going on here. The Naga faction is already slated to become the 5th faction and Ubisoft has already decided to base them after Chinese/Japanese/Korean culture and has reached a point of no return and as ubisoft's repisentitive it's your job to warm us up to the idea.

Please inform your employers that we cannot be "warmed up" to anything and we will ether like or won't like the new Naga faction on our own accord. I have only one question.

Do the creators of the Naga faction acctully know what a Naga is?

the insiders are not employees, neither they are told to make us think something is best, much the contrary, they're here to make our rants feedback get to them and obviously they get their own voice towards the developers.

oh, and there is the part where the developers tell them about the game but will kill insiders if they spread what they know

What? Where was it confirmed that Naga will be the 5th faction?

Well, either way that is 99.99% sure since we have had tons of Naga artwork, will be getting music in H6 with lyrics in Mandarin, have actually seen a probable Naga hero travelling the adventure map and lots of other things.

I would extremly disappointed if we get something like Avians who worship Ylath or even Faceless.

I'm actually warming up to the idea of an aquatic faction. Basically I see it like this: The dominant species (and heroes) could be either Naga or Troglodytes. Their cities would basically be lakes, with buildings being caverns and islands. Their lineup could be something like:

Core: Mermaid/Siren, Frogman/Troglodyte, Naga warrior/Naga swordmaster
Elite: Giant squid/Kraken, Naga Sorceress/Scylla, Hippocampus Rider/Hippocampus Knight
Champion: Sea Serpent/Leviathan

Something like that. Don't really care about specifics.
The only thing I really don't want if we get an aquatic faction, is for them to actually be functionally aquatic. I don't want land boats, or cities located in the water, or inherent advantages and disadvantages in a battle depending on whether it's on land or at sea. It just seems like something like that would ruin what could potentially be a good faction.

I bet Nagas. Sue me

The problem with certain people around here are that, FORGET WoW. IMO they make every other fantasy basedgame look bad. Which I understand. WoW are nothing than a mockery on fantasy IMO.

I stand for Nagas as a main race BUT should only consist of 1-3 of the towns units, the rest should be some other creatures belonging to a swamp or jungle. Lizardmen or not. Though Lizardmen could fit as intelligent people too therefore the below suggestion.

Lizardmen faction - Jungle
Nagas - Swamp

Problem solved.

I would anyhow prefer Lycanthropes with Shapeshifter and Beastmaster as might and magic heroes based on some splinter group with leaders from human/dwarves/elves if you wish. Instead of Lizardmen/Naga faction. Now theres ORGINALITY(?)

Yes, Nagas are a reptilian aquatic faction from the moon and their only weakness is kryptonium. They also utilise falling stars as their siege equipment and ride on meteors charging the enemy, much like teh WH40k Space marines and their drop pods.

LOL
i dont mean it that way
im talking about how ashan buried himself in the moon and maybe he created a race there while underground or something like that...because hes magical or whatever
just use your imagination and try to think of what im thinking of...

New tileset

The last tileset appears to be a snow one, does that change your guys's thoughts at all?
Nagas could be viable but... what else does the snow infer?
we now know it can not be creatures like the faceless(they live underground) and we know the snow rules a lot of other factions so what new innovative faction could live in the snow?

personally I don't understand why lizardmen are seen as the driving force behind Fortress. They are one unit, and a pretty bad unit to be frank. I always saw fortress as more of just a lizardeque faction. I have to say though, that I did really like gnolls because they were unique in the way that they were the only hairy thing in that faction.

Like I've said before, I think we are going to see a "naga" faction, but I'm expecting naga heroes and one maybe 2 naga units at most. There is literally no room in the lore for anything new except nagas that this point. Seriously no matter how different their line up is, due to ashans world, we are pretty much stuck with,
1. haven ( humans)
2. Academy (humans)
3. Free cities (humans)
4. Dark elves/faceless (there is no way the faceless are their own faction)
5. Elves
6 dwarfs
7 naga
8 orcs
9. necromancers
10. demons.

Esspecially for a game that takes place in the past. Hopefully in H7 we get rid of some the old stereotypes. Like you said, maybe the demons are in the swamp, haven was destroyed, angels are neutral, and the groups went to the free cities, a mechanical center with guns and airships. Academy becomes an elemental town, there are new orc necromancers who raise undead Cyclops. The dark elves start making all sorts of beast men, and are just units behind the scenes serving as heroes to a more classic dungeon. Beast men inhabit the plains, and take on a might approach while stronghold has become more magic oriented through hexes and rituals or even (gasp) as mentioned before, necromancers. None of this can happen in H6 due to lore. It can in H7 though.

I would love love love a swamp tileset/Fortress/Fortress-inspired swamp town in an expansion, and have the Naga be their own thing in the jungle, but I feel like if any town will be a spiritual successor to HIII Fortress it'll be the Nagas.

Hey, guys on the VIP forums, would you mind pointing out to BH that HIII Fortress currently is one of the top two factions in a competition here to see what the board members' favorite factions from the entire HoMM series are? Sure, it doesn't mean much, but it'd be nice if they knew there was still a fair amount of support for that town out there.

No, I think you misunderstand things here. Originally, we were told there would be 5 tilesets (+ underground). Common sense says those would correspond to the 5 factions. Snow was added as a bonus terrain recently, but probably won't have any inherent faction.

No, Tuidhana made a pact with the Faceless more than 20 years before 'the present', so there are Dark Elves, they just haven't been forced underground yet.

They made the pact but my bet is that their skin won't turn violet until they go underground, and most of their units and talents are not here yet, so basically they may have changed their dragon but the metamorphosis isn't complete.

skin differs, silk instead of leather, underground creatures to add to their line-up, different weapons, spell wielders...
In a way I see the dark elves similar to the Ylath worshipping humans ( in regards to haven), alike in many ways but so different all together.

I'll try to wrap it up..!

according to poll so far

64% - Naga like faction
18% - Other faction
9% - Faceless
9% - Dragon Knights

so majority thinks 5th faction will include Naga!

there are 2 major views of them

1st - is Reptile-like faction which somehow resembles Fortress from HoMM3... Jungle based.. With snake based nagas and Reptile like creatures as well.. It has the most supporters.. I guess cuz a lot of people would love to see return of HoMM3 Fortress or at least some of it's creatures

2-d - is Aquatic-like faction, which will have Naga units, as well as water related creatures.. Major argument to have them is that it has been said that there is an water dragon, and water based magic...

Faceless faction lost a lot of votes due to 4th faction which are Stronghold barbarian orcs.. So there is no place for another Evil faction for HoMM6 vanilla.. As well as a lot of people think that Faceless on its own will not have an entire faction

Dragon Knights didn't really have much supporters, even though it has been mentioned that they will play a role in campaign, still they don't have a certain race, dragon knight can be any race as long as he is super cool and fights demons or faceless.. + they are hidden secret faction

Other faction!!! A lot of people may vote on this one! Cuz NO one stated that Nagas WILL be in the game.. so there is a big possibility that it can be ANY new faction, as we know it IS a NEW faction.. A huge room for imagination.. An absolute New faction can be created, and even lore can not prevail it (dev's can rewrite timeline anytime they like, i mean at least add some new facts)

IMO.. I personally wish to see a NEW faction! I think it will be Awesome to see something we never saw before!!!
But if it's naga more H3 fortress like, rather then aquatic.. i will be ok with it..
