Free from Russian puppetry? sure

Free from the rot of corruption that festers at the heart of their country and encompasses into every aspect there? Nein

The true fight to "be free" is only taking its baby steps

I don't want to sound like a racist but the last time I heard about Ukraine, it was about a murdered prosecutor whose head and fingers were removed. He was found that way together with his entire family. The heads or fingers were never found...

People don't talk about Russia, but the russian mafia is terrifying. It's like hearing from the Mexican cartels.

Ukraine should really stay away from the EU for a long time.

Poroshenko apparently appointed John McCain as presidential advisor (the name's at the bottom of the document, frankly I can't read most of it but it's about some "reforms"). According to this he wasn't actually asked in advance.

McCain is among the loudest supporters or arming Ukraine and was on the Maidan (along with Victoria Nuland and other paragons of democracy) during the protest against Yanukovych. Wonder what happens if he accepts the "invitation".

A girl from Ukrainian team has won 2nd place in world's hand-to-hand fighting championship in Moscow, and demonstrated a flag of the unacknowledged Donetsk People's Republic. According to the info, that girl comes from Donetsk.

More info reveals that the team might not have been "pure Ukrainian", but somehow registered as such, since Russia does not acknowledge Donetsk People's Republic officially, recognizing territories of Donetsk and Lugansk areas as parts of Ukraine.

HTH Figthing Federation of Ukraine officially states it didn't participate in the world championship.

Regardless, that girl has balls. The future will show the resonance of this action, which is definitely provocative.

From what I could gather up, it would seem that there's a new 'maidan' brewing, aiming to overthrow poroshenko. It seems more and more are getting pissed at the poor chocolate magnate. Praviy sector seems to be the no.1 hater.

GG. Ukraine is becoming Europe's Somalia.

And meanwhile the "poor" khokhols are getting free social housing, for which my fellow countrymen waint in a que for at least a decade.
Slava ukraina.

By the way, the russian aggressors should move into the Baltics any time now. Any minute now. Just you wait.

Protests against the constitutional amendments increasing the decentralization lead to violence, probably even fatalities after someone from the crowds throws a grenade at the guards of the Rada.

What makes Russia partly right? That a lot of people in Ukraine don't want a decentralized government? Who cares? You either support a more decentralized Ukraine or you don't. It doesn't matter what other people think.

Ukrainians will do what Ukrainians do. Germans will do what Germans do. US will do what US does. I personally support a more decentralized Ukraine, and I'm not going to (nor should I) fold on my opinion simply because a large number of Ukrainians disagree with me. It's my opinion and it doesn't belong to them. Moreover, it is perfectly just & good for me to project my opinion on others; to make it public and to advertise it, sell it, and seek to make it reality. This is basic politics.

Here's your answer. American/European propaganda said that their actions would be the solution to the crisis in ukraine. Well, having half the country protest doesn't seem like anything was solved.

That's completely missing my point. I never stated that you should change your political view just because others do. What i was pointing at was that news reports were more propaganda than stating facts at that time and ignoring the problems now is a proof for that. So when you have your own opinion based on your beliefs and observations (as oposed to what your government wants your opinion to be) as it seems to be the case with you that is exactly what i want to encourage with my post!
So again to make my point clear and simple:
Don't be a sheep, form your own opinion!

The only country that really fits having authentic propaganda is N. Korea and maybe a few other countries to a softer degree. New agencies and journalists that form a view that Zeki disapproves of doesn't make it propaganda. It makes it - at worse - wrong, as in: they pitched a view and they missed the target.

Having a political prediction that turns out to be wrong isn't propaganda. Factoring a binomial incorrectly doesn't mean you're a propaganda machine campaigning against math.

(Besides, a violent riot, or for that matter 30 violent riots, doesn't prove anything. How many major national identity crises have resolved themselves perfectly smoothly? Can you tell me what the alternative would have been like? How do you know it wouldn't be worse by far? Not at all callous to those who were injured or possibly killed, but if that's the worst that happens, Ukraine is officially the #1 boss)

Might have something to do with the fact that the people with the gas bombs and the grenade are the same "freedom fighters" from the Maidan.

Oh come on, you cannot dismiss everything that is not purely obvious ******** (aka n.korean news) as not being propaganda. Of course you can only spread such stupid lies in an isolated place such as north korea. For propaganda to still work in the West it has to be much more subtle. I don't know where you live but news reportation about ukraine was very biased here in germany. They shoved down your throat how evil evil evil russland and putin are 24/7. On all newspapers, news shows, radio stations, everywhere. And im not even saying they were lying. But leaving out information or stating rumours as facts comes very close to that.
And, might be that it could be much worse in ukraine, that is, still, not my point. I am just sad to see how easily people can be and are manipulated even today in the 21st century in a western modernized country.

Projecting an opinion isn't propaganda. You're free to disagree with an American or German news agency that says Russia is bad. I happen to more-or-less agree with them that Putin is running an Imperial Russia.

News agencies aren't neutral AI robots, if the concept of "neutral" even exists in human terms, or if that is even necessarily desirable. They report the news and most news agencies have an editorial staff that explain & advocate a particular viewpoint. Statistically, the vast majority of journalists in W. Europe and the US aren't going to look at Putin's policy favorably.

Yeah, but focusing on Putin's policy only can produce nothing except a biased, one-sided, ultimately flawed analysis, no? It's a fact that the media in Western Europe and the US focus almost exclusively on what has happened in Ukraine since winter 2014 and ignore the background or paint it in a typically anti-Russian light like this thing burst from the ground like a geyser of evil and disrupted the serenity of peaceful Europe. Sure, a number of journalists in the West have tried to escape from the black-and-white jabber but they are overwhelmed by fingerpointers who show a more "politically correct" picture.
