it is not a bug, you probably just got lucky. Both versions (standard and large) are generated as a single object.

It's not a Sand terrain, it's a new patch terrain called Dunes. Not so easy in battle indeed, but it's a part of map idea.

Yes, it's because of 256 colors in def palette. Can be fixed only by separation into groups of bmp's. Like it was done with artifact.def.

I personally feel the current Halberdier model looks a little too pomperous for a level 2 creature.

especially if it's level 1


But the question is should we use these animation in this way if only a few creatures would have them?

why not? it's just an extra diversity

Cyclops is singular. Strange and unusual one.

Same story with Efreeti.

Ring of Oblivion will be remodeled someday.

Golems and Evil Eyes initially had an unused death animation. But other creatures hadn't. Also, it's really hard to create any extra animation without original NWC 3d-models.

Pikeman/Halberdier are also planned to be slightly remodeled.
