Female/male. There's no need in additional sprites for Fortress, because only male might heroes and female magic are available in regular game.

Release date had to be shifted once again. Despite the team’s hard work, there are still tasks that require additional time to finish. In order to prevent any further unfulfilled expectations, this time we will refrain from giving any estimations for the release date. Still, development of 1.5.0 is clearly on its final stages.

Returning to presenting the most prominent features of upcoming update, we will start with the one of aesthetic nature. As one could notice on the screenshots posted earlier, among other features of the update, there will be new models of heroes both on battlefield and the adventure map, that allow them to be distinguished by gender and class at the same time.

It is known that New World Computing had planned to create two models for each class, differing in gender. For example — one can find unused map editor sprites AH01m.msk, AH02F.msk, AH02m.msk in game resources. Male Cleric, female Ranger and male Ranger respectively. Alas, only the last one has made it to the actual game. Additionally, heroes with different gender and same class can be found on original alpha-version screenshots. One could see for example male and female Overlord both on map and in battle.



Therefore, it came once again to HotA to implement the original developers’ plan, for which they lacked time, resources or both. Although, mainly decorative, this task was planned almost since the beginning of the project. On early HotA concept arts one can find images of 4 heroes per town. In addition, in 2008 additional hero models were created for Cove as well.



As it is, the actual creation of all the necessary models started only about a year ago by personal initiative of a newly joined 3D-artist — DrSlash.







While developing the new models the team followed design patterns of default hero models, fixed the original sprites and made some new conceptual decisions. Thus, it was decided to move both of the original Stronghold hero models to the same class (barbarian) due to their likeness, while the battle mages have acquired their own concept that references other installments in the series. Cove hero models have been completely reworked and Conflux might heroes recieved a constant flame animation.

Saved games from 1.4.2 should be compatible, but I can't absolutely guarantee it.

Just be patient. HotA is getting bigger and bigger with every release, the crew though, not so much. Expect some news in the next 24 hours.

Restriction is really disturbing, but there is not enough space for that in H3 interface. Such thing will require essential rework of game menus, windows etc. We've already expanded heroes meeting screen, for example, but it's unlikely to be enlarged even further.

hippox89 You have spotted most of it, but still there is a bunch of stuff that hasn't been noticed by wide audience as of yet. Including the one most significant in my opinion.

You need to install the lastest [url=https://sites.google.com/site/heroes3hd/eng/download]HD-mod[/url] version. Game options > More options > Simultaneous Turns. Simultaneous Turns are only available with HotA.

Just to make things clear. That interview is a poor source of information both about crew's current attitudes and my personal opinions. For example — the idea of making ERA support was completely discarded half a year after the talk.

As for specific thing of using HotA's graphical assets: the language barrier did mess up some points I've been trying to make during the interview. I mostly meant that HotA's graphical resources are to be treated with the same respect as NWC graphical resources should NWC still exist as a team. We are not fond of massive borrowing of our content for other projects, but for some individual cases we don't mind. Anyway, it is highly recommended to consult us on whether we would mind in any specific case (we are usually available here on HC or you can use our e-mail). Things that we don't plan on using ourselves are occasionally released for wide public.

Same for the case with Pellish — we are not against any use of our Forge material that was released for public by Don_ko, including that terrain.

HotA 1.3.6 is out. It's not very huge, mainly bug fixes and some graphical changes.
