It's only a bugfix 1.6.1. Not 1.7.0, of course. The next major update should not be expected in the next 2-3 months for sure.

It was Docent Picolan who released first graphical patch made entirely  from stolen assets

This claim is complete nonsense posted with an intent to deceive people. All of my pre-HotA WoG-related activities were aimed to adapt already existing assets to the original style, either ones from the original game (recoloring and frame-by-frame processing of so-called 8 lvl creatures), "stolen" graphics from WoG, or works of other modders. There hasn't been a single example of me intentionally borrowing a graphics from another game and trying to pass it off as my own work. Any attempts to 'work' on obviously imported assets such as objects from Age of Wonders were commissioned by other community members. As with all HotA source material, all early assets still exist in my archives; all discussions regarding such patches can be read on DF2 forums, and I can prove everything I said above using the material I mentioned. Actually, anyone who was engaged in HoMM modding in mid-2000s knows this, and I'm particularly baffled to hear such claims from you.

Worth mentioning is the fact that the experience I amassed adapting imported graphic assets to the visual style of HoMM III proved to be very useful. It still comes in handy every now and then when doing post-processing for 3D models.

Hota with a friendly modkit (allowing all that WoG does and more) would expand the community from the actual one hundred at best to ten thousands, for a start.

And that's just a hilarious notion. You know there are 200,000 registered accounts in the lobby with at least a thousand online at any time, right?

The update with the new terrain will most likely slide from summer to early autumn. However, later this month, an article with new development details will be released, so stay tuned.

The development of the Factory, the second town to be introduced in HotA and 11th overall in the game, is in full swing. As you already know, on April 28th, the Streamfest convention took place where some of the freshly developed content was unveiled. It included the following video, which, if one forgives the obvious shortcomings of hasty production, can be considered the second trailer for the Factory town.

Demo trailer for Streamfest: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sTSsek0wIEY

We were always planning to publish another illustrated update in May, but, thanks to the team's increased productivity in the course of preparation for the festival, we are now able to show you even more than was initially planned. Make no mistake: the town graphics are in the earliest stage of development. Many things will likely change before the release, so the following content is nothing more than a sneak peek inside the Factory.

Provisional appearance of the townscreen. Factory unit and hero portraits

Here are some facts HotA Crew is able to confirm so far:

- The Halfling (Tier 1) and the Gunslinger (Tier 6), complete with their upgrades, were chosen for unveiling not because they somehow epitomise the essence of the new town, but rather because out of the whole lineup, only these two had been agreed upon in terms of appearance before the decision to participate in the convention was made.

- All humanoid units from the lineup have now been made public; these are the Halfling, the Gunslinger and the Mechanic (formerly Flamethrower Operator), described in the previous article.

- Neither in the New Year Day teaser and the festival trailer, the Factory town musical theme was played. These two videos have dedicated scores, specially written for this cause; however, you can expect certain melodic elements from these tracks to make a return.

- The provisional release date for the Factory town is still December 31th. The version 1.6.0, one to introduce the Wasteland terrain, will be released this summer.

- Three big announcements for the Factory have been published thus far: the New Year Day trailer, the interview from mid-January, and now this piece featuring the most up-to-date material. We also do not intend to keep mum until the release; within a month, you can expect another article.

- While many town elements are far from completion, most of the decorations and textures for the Wasteland terrain are now finished and will not change until the 1.6.0 release.

Conversely, one of the rawest elements shown at the convention is the Wasteland battlefield, an eleventh-hour addition to the demo. Naturally, it will see change.

This is obviously a set up screenshot When creating official production screenshots of HotA, I arrange the objects based on artistic considerations. Ergo, the objects are not placed following any gameplay logic, not in realistic or RMG-like patterns, but combined only by artistic criteria — which of them look more aesthetically pleasing together. A harmonious composition of the frame, working color combinations, taking advantage of the opportunity to demonstrate several new elements in a group. So yes, the guards will not be anything sensible, and some objects may be unreachable. For example the zealots are placed there only because of their blue-tinted robes near the similarly colored teleport and surrounded by the blue player interface. A spell scroll, Cyclops and a Pandora's Box — those accentuate and expand three-ways the beige palette of the Factory castle. And so on and so forth.

Russian World of Fantasy magazine has published an article dedicated to the 20th anniversary of HoM&M3 that mentions our project: https://www.mirf.ru/games/videogames/20-let-geroyam-mecha-i-magii-3-chem-zhivyot-kultovaya-igra-segodnya

There is mostly no new information given about the future of HotA in the article, so a translation won't be needed. Though there is a new exclusive screenshot that is worth mentioning, showing the Factory's castle (until now only the "village"/capitol sprite has been shown publically) as well as a couple of new portraits. The model is, most likely, not final. As usual, around 15 different concepts of the castle have been discarded before we came up with the one we finally considered to be looking adequately enough.

There are two major architectural styles found in the Factory — its Capitol represents art deco, while art nouveau is represented by the Factory's castle. The main idea behind the castle's appearance is to be "the face of an empire", a monument to its ambitions. We deliberately made the architecture more secular and railway station-/institute-like in its aesthetics, rather than militaristic. The feature that is specific to the Factory's castle is how "alive" it is. of sieges an animation of the artillery guns being deployed will be shown, similar to how a short jingle is played at the start of each battle in the original game. Said animation will involve jets of steam ejecting, while several gears start moving with a rumbling noise, revealing the artillery cannons. In short, the building is moderately peaceful in its appearance, even has certain luxurious decoration, which, in a way, traps the unsuspecting besiegers.

Concepts:
