We were in fact approached, and there were things in motion to this end, but at one point it all stalled, although hardly for want of interest on our end. It has probably been a year since anything happened on that front, and we do not see this as a possibility in the near future.

1. Congratulations on the Factory’s release. Are you satisfied with the result?

We most definitely are. This release was the biggest in the history of HotA. In it, we implemented some very ambitious ideas: the Factory faction, with the creature lineup full of new intriguing mechanics; the airship, a new means of traveling across the map; a complex and detailed campaign with scenarios based on gameplay solutions not previously seen in the project; and a great number of cutscenes done at a whole new technical level. We also made many improvements compared to previous versions of HotA. We added a campaign editor with regional maps; implemented an animated main menu; solved the issue with objects hidden from the map editor; and replaced the sounds of Cove creatures with original ones created purposely for this town. We also fixed a huge number of bugs, including those that, for one reason or another, were not addressed in previous releases. Finally, before releasing the update, we conducted a very productive closed testing session of the new version, with online community representatives involved. This allowed for a release with an unprecedented level of quality. We've done more than ever before, in many ways better than before, and covered many aspects of the game that we hadn't dared to tackle before.

2. The update must be receiving lots of feedback. Is there a single channel for it? How does the team process the incoming array of information from players?

There are a lot of participants in our team, and our development process is closed, so feedback is mainly generated within the team. We follow bug reports fairly closely, collect them, and verify them, but we don't regularly process user feedback for other issues. This does not mean, of course, that we ignore it. Each participant can independently browse certain sources such as forums, comments, and social  ... post shortened to 2000 characters.

Today we want to share some intriguing news related to the HotA project. The Factory's release was a big event among Might & Magic fans of the world. Over recent months, we have read and seen a great number of reviews, been asked many questions, and been repeatedly invited to participate in various collaborations. Unfortunately, we do not have the capacity or time to accept each and every offer or answer every question in depth, but we would be remiss to not give back to the community, especially in light of the warm welcome the New Year's release saw.

So, first of all, we would like to announce the release of a big feature dedicated to HotA by our friends from the Tavern of Might & Magic community. Our team answered over three dozen questions from the Tavern authors, and in considerable detail. Most of them coincide with what the players are trying to find out in the comments, on forums and social media, so you will most probably enjoy reading this article. It highlights some of the details of the Factory's development, HotA Crew's plans for the future, the ins and outs of our workflow, our sources of inspiration and much more.

After a quick read of the script I recognize the variable $prize$ as the pendant. So I've removed all strings which has that variable, resulting in not giving the necklace. I don't want to dive deeper for now, but at least, not end up with tons of necklaces seems more balanced for me.

This is what I've done, please, someone tell me if I didn't broke anything else. Strings removed:

Really?, it seems to me Jebus Cross is (almost) as old as the game itself and it does'nt seem to have changed much either since then.
But good for them, if they actually know how to play anything else.

Btw. I am very familiar with Lexiav's YT videos.
He is a fun YouTuber, but I don't agree with everything he says, for example his disdain for Water Magic.
But competitive players does'nt play water maps either, so yeah...

Thank you so so much Alex for your help. I never used any plugins before. Tried to copy and paste the dll file into various locations, and none of it works.

I tried to follow your installation gudie in this post, after pasted the dll file into pack folder, it was not in the add list of the HD+ plugin.

It might sound stupid, but could you tell me how to use this dll file?

Edit: My HD mode is HoMM3 HD 5.4 R90. Is it compatible? Or do I have to do anything else before it shows up in the Add Plugin list?

Thank you so much for your input. I'm sorry if I did not make it clear. I am not a modder. I barely know anything about game editing. I am just a regular player. So please comment as you are talking to a complete newb here.

Regarding this function, where do I find it? Is it in a file? By your description, we can just change this function and don't need to hex the exe file?

I have now mapped out most of the artifacts which were added by Gathering Storm, and all of their combos.

I've also confirmed that a few of these offsets are the same in the base game (`heroes4.exe` instead of Equilibris' `h4mod.exe`).

Turns out the bonuses/spells/abilities of these artifacts are hard-coded in the machine code, as "immediate" values in instructions setting up arguments on the stack for specific function calls.

Almost all of these are preceded by `6a` (if the number or spell ID or ability ID fits in a signed byte). This is an x86 "push" instruction which uses the next byte as its "immediate" value to push. A couple are preceded by `68` - this is also a push instruction, but uses four bytes of immediate value - this is used for numbers and IDs that are larger than 127 (7F in hex). A couple cases I found were prefixed by `c7 46 0c` (this copies the next four bytes of immediate value to a spot starting at 12 bytes past the current top of the stack, so it's still setting up function arguments on the stack, just in a different order).

Some of the values have constant factors applied to them. Armor and Attack (but not Damage!) bonuses in the code are actually 10x bigger than their in-game displayed values, so +15 armor is actually +150 armor in the code, +5 is actually +50, and so on. Combat movement is more extreme: it has a 300x multiplier. So +1 combat movement is actually +300 in the code, +2 movement is +600, and so on.

Some of the bonuses are separate arguments for the same function call. For examples:

1. When an artifact applies a spell, the spell ID is one argument, and one of the other arguments is a number which is used by some spells (so Angelfeather Cloak has the 300 and the Heavenly Shield spell ID right next to each other).
2. Giving spell points and increasing spell point regeneration is done in the same function call - artifacts which only give spell points and no spell point regeneration are actually still grantin ... post shortened to 2000 characters.
